Government Jobs?
QUOTE(BobDylan @ May 13, 2007 -> 08:57 PM) I wonder if they hire based on one's understanding of the differences between their, there, and they're. If so, you got no chance. And than and then.

Michael Moore facing Treasury Dept. investigation
QUOTE(Texsox @ May 13, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) There is a lot to be said for Trade, not Aid. Plus, we start putting a McDonalds on every corner, and Castro starts liking that McMuffin in the morning and a Big Mac in the afternoon, biggie sized of course, and he's finally gone from there. The McMuffin probably isn't best for his artifical anus.

2007 MLB Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 13, 2007 -> 01:14 AM) The Marlins lost a game in what may have been as spectacular fashion as I've ever seen tonight. After 3 hours and 38 minutes in rain delays and a 3 hour game that ended at 1:45 AM local time, the Marlins lose 7-3 at Washington. They left 12 men on base, gave up an inside the park homer on a misplay, and STILL led 3-2 going to the last of the 9th. An RBI single tied it, Christian Guzman did what Christian Guzman does though and struck out with bases loaded one out and the game now tied. With 2 outs and the bases loaded, the Marlins brought in Jorge Julio, who is having one of the worst years I've ever seen a guy have out of the pen. He then proceeds to nearly hit Marlin killer Ryan Zimmerman on the first pitch, and then serves up a fastball on a tee the 2nd pitch, which is deposited over the left field wall for a walk off grand slam. Amazing. And no one noticed, I guarantee it. Sad.

Tell Zeller that since Iowa State was on him before anyone else, he should be our second five-star center in two years.

Government Jobs?
Well, I may have told you this, but my pop works for the State of Iowa. You might be persuaded to join one of them there unions. EDIT: I guess technically I'd be a state employee this summer too.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:59 PM) Long with a good K per IP ratio tonight. Is the org just starting him to stretch out his arm? They don't see him as a starter but a reliever, correct? Carter has been beastly, and Shelby doing better, but still has a far ways to go. If they saw him as a reliever instead of a starter then they wouldn't be moving him from reliever to starter. He was having major issues last year that he seems to be working out while starting.

For all that's gone wrong with him, I still feel bad for the guy. We still don't win it all in 05 without him.

Cintron back on bereavement list
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 12, 2007 -> 11:16 PM) I can't think of anyone at AAA right now who I think will contribute much. Not even Fields. There really isn't. Might as well hope for the best then.

Cintron back on bereavement list
Never said that he did, but he's far from sucking in AAA, and not every sinigle person we call up will flame out.

QUOTE(BearSox @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) Hey fathom... Andy Gonzalez pretty much sucks, and would probably be worse then Iguchi. Actually he's been playin pretty well in AAA.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) I saw them say how he has made an adjustment to the outfield (the segment where they were talking about guys moving from IF to OF) but nowhere in that segment did I ever see them claim he was a starting outfielder (however I may have missed an earlier segment that insinuated such). But I want Ozuna starting at 2nd right now (I'm a big Ozuna guy because I think he does a lot of things that help teams win, more so at 2nd than LF). Especially if Zuna would start hitting more like he did the past two years. Whoops. I believe what they said was (paraphrasing) that "you don't lose anything defensively going to Ozuna in LF".

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:18 PM) Injuries. No one would be stupid enough to question his defensive prowess. Plus, while I like Erstad he's a horrific offensive solution over at first (where I think its a near must to have a power hitter). And I have heard many a former player comment on Erstad being the best in the biz (from Mark Grace to most of the experts on Baseball Tonight) to a couple people I know around baseball (and obviously Derek Lee is the other name that comes up). Baseball Tonight also claimed Ozuna as a starting caliber LF tonight.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:13 PM) He's got decent speed, but its not like he did anything amazing (took an extra base on a wild pitch that a cripple could of taken second from and he damn near went into no mans land at second and got picked off. So I can't say whether he's a "good runner", but he has solid speed. Get me registered for xoops, you dink.

So yeah, turns out Terrero is a pretty decent baserunner. That's what I took from the tenth inning.

QUOTE(Hanky Panky @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:00 PM) Ryan Sweeney is awesome by the way. He's from my hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Go there multiple times a year. I bet he misses the Quaker Oats smell.

I give up. Evidently, on the eighth day, God created Erstad.

WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
QUOTE(BearSox @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:54 PM) Well, I think we all would like to keep the same chemistry, but the pinch running for Konerko was a no-brainer. I know, that's why I suggested it in the game thread. What I'm trying to say is that Darin isn't a great enough 1B to be justified as a defensive upgrade at first.

If you can resist f***ing with your IF defense late in the game, you try to leave it alone. That's just what I believe. I'm just more comfortable with Paulie finishing it off.
