  1. I think if you told a Soxtalk poster on the last day of the 2014 season the moves that we would make up to now, they wouldn't believe it for a number of reasons. We may not win enough games to contend this year, but I have an extremely hard time faulting Rick for what he's done thus far.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 09:58 PM) Explain please http://www.sbnation.com/college-basketball...ch-carter-movie
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 08:59 PM) Wow, Baylor was losing to NAIA school Houston-Tillotson, at Baylor, for most of the 1st half. What is it with Baylor teams being so wildly inconsistent? They were like this the past couple seasons too. And why the hell is Baylor playing a school like that in the midst of conference play anyway? Or playing them at all? Coach Carter movie. Not even joking.

I'm just glad at least one passionate fan made his feelings known.
  5. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 09:40 AM) Yay Heads! Yay me! How fun is the Big 12 going to be this year?
  6. I wouldn't be surprised if he retired tomorrow, to be honest. I don't think he'll accrue the numbers.
  7. I hope he doesn't pitch like schist.
  8. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 11:32 AM) I think people underestimate how often talented teams get completely mishandled by coaches in the NFL. You don't luck into a playoff team. San Fran was a sleeping giant for forever, you couldn't understand how they were 6-10 under a coach. Jake Delhomme went from good QB to one of the worst QBs in the world and the were stuck with him for a while. Indianapolis did.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 13, 2015 -> 11:20 AM) Wow, B12 with SEVEN ranked teams right now. That doesn't include a significantly improved TCU program, or a dangerous KSU team. TT may be the only weak team in the entire conference. OU got thumped tonight at West Virginia. This town is more than a little pumped for College Gameday.
  10. Huge win for ISU at West Virginia in a game that gets more chippy every matchup.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 11:20 PM) Ughh....reminded me of Iowa last year. Get a nice lead at halftime, get f***ing blown out in 2nd half. Pathetic. Why doesn't Olaseni play more?
  12. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 8, 2015 -> 10:44 PM) The Sox don't play in Comerica or Safeco, they play in US Cell. Hitting is marginally more important than outfield defense. There just isn't a lot of room. It's going to be very hard to find a better replacement CF for Eaton than Melky. If you're talking about the handful of innings a "defensive specialist" will get, that role just isn't that important to worry about. One thing Jordan Danks isn't, is anything above replacement. We shouldn't get caught up his utility as a defender because much like Viciedo, any value he brings in one area is more than negated overall. The Sox could still bring in a Danks like player as a NRI in spring, but it's hardly a critical spot. Talking a .5 win swing at absolute most imo. If we get to the place where that spot is impacting us, we'll be able to make a move to rectify it.
  13. Who are my fellow Big 12 fans besides NS and greg in here? Are we thinking OU wins the conference this year?
  14. Hopefully this helps Diallo to ISU.
  15. If we're worried about Jordan Danks we are worried about the wrong things. Dude has proven he can't hit at the major league level. If we're looking for defensive specialist outfielders, they're out there, and they aren't gonna cost much.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 10:23 PM) From the second his name was mentioned as a candidate at GT, I was posting on here about how awful a fit it would be. Thanks to Hewitt's ridiculous life-time contract with GT, it was always known to be a 4-year gig at a minimum for Gregory. Thankfully it sounds like they have a decent amount of money now to spend on a coach. I feel like they should be able to steal from one of those A-Sun/SoCon/SunBelt schools that won't suck
  17. Nice win for Illinois. Baylor would have been well served to shoot the ball before time expired. TCU/K-State in a battle as Weber continues to happen.
  18. Baylor ball down 1, ten seconds left against KU. At least they already announced ISU is hosting Gameday for the Kansas game. That's pretty much the biggest thing to happen to Ames.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 09:43 PM) They are very good. Illinois just taking them to the woodshed. Conference play is no joke in the Big Ten I've been watching KU-Baylor. Illini defense just shutting them down or what's the deal?
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 01:32 PM) Luck actually makes a lot of questionable throws. Luck is the best talent to come out of the draft since Peyton (and Luck having better physical tools and Peyton having better intelligence...albeit by a very narrow margin). I said Jameis is best since Luck. Doesn't mean I put him at the same level as Luck but if it weren't for his off the field issues, you would be talking about a guy everyone would be salivating over. He has made tons of big time throws and came up huge in big game after big game. Will he make the occasional turnover, certainly, but he's playing in a pro-style offense. You are going to turn the ball over running that style far more than you would in a spread offense. Mariotta really doesn't have the opportunity to throw a ton of picks given their style of offense. Heck to be frank, Cutler should have never had the opportunity to throw as many as he did given the style we were trying to run in Chicago. You're completely right about Luck. He's more gunslingery than he gets credit for.
  21. I was under the impression that that Maryland team was pretty darn good. Would be a really nice win for the Fighting Illini.
  22. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 7, 2015 -> 09:33 PM) Brand new stadium, and if you squint, you can see how they could add seats to make it an MLB park some day. Either way that's a rather remarkable jump.
  23. Charlotte gained nearly 6,000 additional fans per game? Holy f***.
  24. Danish just was invited to big league camp.
  25. It kind of appears that the White Sox "trying" this offseason has led to tangible ticket results. Which is nice.
