  1. From the most recent MLBTR Chat: ” Matt 1:08 Are the White Sox actually going to spend $190 mil in payroll? I don’t see it White Sox 1:08 Why do people think Reinsdorf will be cheap when he is so close to a winner and he is getting pretty old? He wants to win and has the money, prove to me he won't be going after the top class free agents, especially at RF and 2nd. Mark P 1:09 Both sides of this debate have merit. Reinsdorf has never been one to spend big on his team, though that doesn't mean he couldn't or wouldn't given this special circumstance. The Sox obviously think they're on the verge of winning another title, so I could see Reinsdorf okaying a splurge for the next year or two. 1:10 Also, Abreu/Kimbrel/Keuchel all come off the books after 2022, so it's not like the Sox couldn't drop payroll back a bit next winter if they wanted. < p> ” I think “Mark P” would be a good Soxtalk Moderator.
  2. “He shouldn’t be trusted any time soon with a high leverage situation, but if the team can help him figure out some things to help him improve his control and command, they might have Aroldis Chapman 2.0 on their hands.” The most optimistic view of him as expressed from a Phillies fan site, akin to FutureSox.
  3. After signing Kendall Graveman to bolster the bullpen, the White Sox are aiming high and looking to now add a second baseman and “a front line starter,” according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale (via Twitter). Semien and Robbie Ray are mentioned by name, yet this could indicate that the Sox are just prepared to look at the top of the market to fill their needs, rather than necessarily a specific interest in either of those players. This is itself notable given that the White Sox payroll is already projected for a new record-high for the team, and spending big on a player like Semien or Ray would take Chicago into luxury tax range for the first time ever. Semien, of course, is already a familiar figure on the South Side, as spent his first two MLB seasons with the White Sox before being dealt to the Athletics in December 2014. -MLBTrade Rumors commenting on the tweet from Bob. Yea, we’re going to rock a ~170M payroll, gang. Thanks Pal. Cool Bud. What say you, Man?
  4. I resent this… I’m Mr. Feelings and not anyone else. Thanks - now I’ll be crying relentlessly all day. ?
  5. Damned holiday… restricting movement. ?
  6. So would 29 other teams. Well, maybe 28 if you take out the A’s.
  7. I think he just thinks your poop stinks and hasn’t had enough sense to add you to the Hall of Fame List. Escuse me, back to second grade art class I go… ( It’s going to be a LONG off-season everyone. ) ?
  8. I love your ambition but we’ve officially reached the loonyville portion of the off-season. Notice the use of “we’ve” rather than “you’ve”.
  9. I get a feeling I’ll be eating some crow on the return… being so upset at the end of our season, I figured he could be had for three cents… But I also wanted us to flat out not pick up his option and use our coin elsewhere. Urg.
  10. I could see Dombrowski valuing Kimbrel more than others because he knows how routine centered he is.
  11. Those were my serious first two thoughts as well.
  12. I’m sorry my idiotic boredom started this line of nonsense.
  13. Frank Thomas is coming out of retirement and signing a 6/175 deal to be our homegrown Ontani.
  14. But you’re so cute, it’d be impossible to do that.
  15. Reading your posts should be an activity earned, not given. ?
  16. Yea, I’m hopeful they’ll sign him at a lesser rate as him getting the same amount of years seems a stretch due to his age… but even if he ends up getting 2/16 the scenario you mention likely plays out. Bummer, I dig the dude too.
  17. Don’t blame you. I don’t have that much self control, personally… and being an out of state fan compounds it. Hear anything regarding the prospect of pulling Tepera back in?
  18. It sure must be the off-season lull for you to grace us with your presence, brother ?
  19. You don’t if someone isn’t paying you for his proper future value projection. Baseball execs worth half their weight have a good evaluation on him and know the pedigree of prospect he is. Someone deals with you at near his ceiling or he stays here.
