  1. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 05:20 PM) That's true. Plus we'll have the new farm rankings and player rankings to look forward to. Oh, and winter ball too. The offseason is always fun to be absorbed in a bunch of stuff. Usually around January I get really antsy and by February I'm about ready to burst into flames... then spring training rolls around starting with reporting and a wave of relief washes over me. Hopefully we'll have an active offseason hot stove to watch around the entire league.
  2. Would have been nice to see Yoan come up big there with the bases juiced. Edit: congrats Jose!!
  3. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 06:07 PM) We need a bullpen by 2019 or 2020.
  4. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 05:34 PM) To clarify - I'm hopeful that those 3 are the outfield, but realistic me is saying none of stick in CF and we get 2 legit corners out of them. Needing to pay big bucks for a corner OF means only 1 of them panned out Ah - got ya. Edit: It's unanimously thought by pundits and us board lurkers that Eloy will be confined to corner duty... but the jury is still out on Robert. We don't know enough about him yet and have no clue what will actually transpire as his body develops. We also don't know enough about Rutherford to write him off from being up the middle. His old A ball coach in the Yankee org was glowing about him. Read this review from mid year after he made a spectacular play: http://www.nj.com/yankees/index.ssf/2017/0...est_ever_o.html
  5. Anyone watching on MLB.tv and have the game keep resetting to the 1st inning during playback?
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) I just fudged my huggies. 10 - 3 now. I think I will stop looking at Tigers games... it's a lost cause.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 05:09 PM) That's good news from Detroit and Philly. Engel doing his part as I typed this post! Crapola - Tigers now down 4 to 3. Edit: well, f***. 6 to 3. Tigers to the number 1 slot by years end.
  8. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 04:56 PM) If we have to spend money on a corner OF in a couple years then the rebuild was a complete failure as it means 2 of Eloy/Roberts/Rutherford failed. Avi has 2 arb years left for relatively cheap. You have to keep him till the deadline next year, if he maintains this you might get a real return vs. what you would get his off season when it's still risking that this wasn't just a random good year in a sea of s***ty ones. I wouldn't say "complete" so fast there and it would mean that only 1 of the 3 didn't pan out... unless I'm misunderstanding you. ( I never misunderstand anyone )
  9. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 04:46 PM) Come on Covey, don't let us down. 2018 draft position is at stake. Tigers currently up 3 to 1 on the Twins in the top of the 7th in Detroit. Minnesota has a runner at second with 1 out. Phillies up 1 zip in the 3rd. The Bum goes for SF against Los Doyers tonight. Big game. Please lose.
  10. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 04:50 PM) Better hope for some good Abreu/Avi trade rumors or this off season is going to be a very long and boring one. But he'll have endless amounts of research, debating, and speculation to enjoy about the next draft. That said - I always miss Chicago White Sox baseball in a viscerally painful way.
  11. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 11:16 AM) Let me clarify, I was speaking in terms of the fans. For the fans to go through this miserable season it was about a top three pick. You all know that I am right no matter how much you deny it. In fact, the whole point of this thread is to track that pick, and going through the pages the evidence is clear that everyone wants a top 2 pick. People even wanted to lose to the Cubs to get a better pick, which is something I'd never cheer for, F them. I wasn't on board for the rebuild at first but everyone wanted a top 2 pick for sure out of this draft. Everyone in fact wanted Beer with number 1 I believe. The organization wants development but we didn't, that's the letdown I'm talking about. Because we had to suffer through this season, and to get the 5th pick is a letdown. As far as the guy who says we don't see eye to eye, I could give a crap to to be honest. ukalukadoodoo
  12. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 23, 2017 -> 12:02 AM) Ha ha. Wasn't this guy turning out to be a total bust in the minors? At least they got some production out of him. Wasn't this one of those bad player for bad player trades? Davidson was a top 100 prospect when we traded Addison Reed for him.
  13. One of the best plays in baseball this year, considering context. Bonehead running KC.
  14. Greg, let's just build a fire and sing kumbaya. You can keep the Miller lite all for yourself too.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) MLB Trade Rumors‏ @mlbtraderumors 59m59 minutes ago Tigers Will Not Retain Brad Ausmus https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/09/tigers-will-not-retain-brad-ausmus.html …://https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017...d-ausmus.html …://https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017...d-ausmus.html … For the record - f*** the Tigers.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:37 PM) Indians lost. Astros 1.5 behind for AL HFA. For the record - f*** the Astros.
  17. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) The Yankees are gonna win 90+ games and lose a one game coin flip to a .500 team. ? That would be so freaking awesome
  18. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 07:57 AM) The White Sox finally got Chris Sale into the playoffs! He's gonna be bananas to watch - regardless of results the dudes going to be off the rails.
  19. QUOTE (mcbrides @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:22 PM) A Lester like signing would be ideal, but as is happening now you can only hope for three years of production. Our "Lester" will come in 2019 or 2020. Edit: and I hope his name is Sale. Wake me up when I'm not dreaming
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 10:04 PM) No offense, but if this was Moncada's stat line folks would be saying, "It's his first season, darn it. Give him a chance. Relax. he'll be fine." Because it's Davidson ... ugh his first season's 26 homers? Throw 'em back in the water; small fish to fry. Need bigger fish. See I care that it's his first season. I think those numbers are ... OK? How many rookies in Sox history have had 26 homers? Pete Ward would have killed to hit 26 home runs for Chicago. The issue with that logic is that Davidson has shown in almost 150 MLB games and over his entire minor league career that he's a one way player at the dish. He's never had an average over .250 or an OBP over .300 at level above AA in his career. If that was the case for Moncada then he wouldn't be considered a potential franchise cornerstone. Edit: Also, the one dimensional performance boasting 26 home runs has also only amounted to -0.7WAR as has already been pointed out. I don't care if a hitter is crushing 50 homers a year if they're a defensive liability and can't even sniff an OBP above .250. Davidson IMO will turn out to be a bench player for a team who isn't contending after he gets another go with us in 2018 as a starter. Hope he can for the first time as a pro hit for a decent average, develop his eye so he gets on base, and turns into a good third baseman. That's asking a lot.
  21. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:06 AM) Yeah, I also liked that he recognizes he has a hitch in his swing and asked the Sox if they could until the off season to work on fixing it. Makes sense with him focusing so much on the defensive side of his game during the season. Was it the uncertainty of Collins sticking at Catcher that you weren't a fan of? IIRC, that was the concern for some folks on draft day. Collins for me was behind others available with my preference. Some of which haven't turned out as well as he has and one other who is actually now in our farm. I didn't care for the hitch in his swing and didn't know enough of him defensively to be stoked on the pick. He was also the first pick under the new regime - before we knew of their now two year long philosophy of evaluating hitters. By no means did I hate the pick and quickly gave him some trust. A year and a half later, I'm happy about him and more hopeful.
  22. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) I'm highly enamored with the HS class this year. Same here, brother
  23. QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:27 PM) This season was about obtaining a top 3 pick, if we get fourth or 5th it will be a letdown. I don't mind wins that occur because our future plays great, but these wins where guys who wont be here make the difference suck. Just like the Bears needed to be in top position to grab a qb last year, and the Bulls need a top 3 pick to grab one of the three studs coming into the NBA next year. We just don't see eye to eye and rather than spending time debating a dead horse, I'll instead just say ukalukadoodoo and leave it at that. ukalukadoodoo.
  24. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:52 PM) Phillies lost, Detroit lost, Giants lost....Sox....won. 0.5 GB of Detroit for the 3rd pick 2 GB of the Phillies for the 2nd pick 2.5 GB of the Giants for the 1st pick 9 games left for the Sox. Buckle up folks - it's gonna be a fun ride.
  25. QUOTE (Tony @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 09:32 PM) By "this board", do you mean rational adults who are not wowed by 26 HRs and instead see a terribly flawed baseball player that currently boasts a .222 AVG, .264 OBP, .716 OPS, -0.7 WAR, lackluster defense and mediocre minor league numbers? Please, get started.
