  1. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 11, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Will the Tigers be four games worse than the Sox the last 19 games? It's looking more and more possible but I believe Captin Covey and his trusty sidekick James will save the day for us.
  2. It would have been. All bad. At least now it's been bad with rays of good on the horizon.
  3. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 11:28 PM) What is the tie-breaker for draft position? Previous year record. Better record last year gets the less favorable upcoming pick. Examples: Sox tie with Giants... Sox would get the better pick since the Giants where better last year. Sox tie with Phillies... Phillies would get better pick since we where better last year.
  4. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 10:19 PM) So any thoughts on if this was Fulmer with his best stuff? If so then that sucks because what makes pitchers good ones is that they can still not get shelled with their mediocre or bad stuff. If this was middling stuff, then hell yea Fulmer. We have not yet seen him at his best.
  5. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 07:38 PM) I agree; he's looked good and don't forget the Coop influence. In the minors our guys get questionable tutoring. In the bigs, the pitchers have Cooper. Fulmer looked damn good today, folks. Yep. Lots of room for improvement and trending positively ( finally ). Small grain of salt here with the sample size but I've always believed he'll have value as a big league pitcher. Dudes not a lots cause as some have suggested.... ( along with Rodon, Burger, and some of the other young guys that another poster wrote off earlier in the week. )
  6. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 10, 2017 -> 04:23 PM) Yeah, that's true. I'm really not mad here. No sense going any further over something so trivial. I want the Sox to lose EVERY GAME this month. That's just me. I will admit I haven't even looked at what Bumgarner has been doing recently and even if I knew he had been struggling or not pitching up to his extremely high standards I would still expect the Giants to win. They didn't. Oh well. You've matured well, grasshoppa.... myself, not so much.
  7. Finally got to watch the condensed game. Fulmer looked really improved. Love the movement he had on his fastball... reminded me of his Vandy years - through not as nasty due to a loss of 3 - 5 mph. If he can harness more control, perhaps all hope isn't lost for him as a SP. Move him to the bullpen and I still believe he can have a good career that is high value... one where we'll see him throwing more nasty Vandy like s***.
  8. Oh... to have Tatis Jr. still. Ok.... divergence over. Carry on.
  9. Wish I was watching this game for one reason really... Fulmer.
  10. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Sep 9, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) We don't know how his whole career will turn out, agree. What I'm asserting (and I think a study would back this up), is that if you looked at a players first 130 AB's there's likely to be a statistical relationship between how they do initially, and how they do over their career. I'm not saying the r^2 would be 0.8, but I'm guessing it's positive. Doesn't mean it will apply to him, but I bet the relationship is there and that's why it's concerning. Wonder how Mike Trout did when he first came up??? Robin Ventura??? Jose Bautista??? A-Rod???? Aaron Judge? One could cherry pick both sides but really we just need to be patient and give the guy 1,000 at bats or so.
  11. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 11:27 PM) Please lose the next 2 +1 I could seriously see us going on an epic losing streak to end the year.
  12. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 11:35 PM) It is hard to rebuild when your first round picks include Rodon, Fulmer, Collins, and Burger. Dude... the jury is still out on ALL of those players. Try harder.
  13. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 11:24 PM) He'll be better than Tim Anderson at the plate at a bare minimum. He's not this bad. Although Devers is looking like he would've been the best get like I originally thought. Rumor has had it that Boston wouldn't give Devers up.
  14. QUOTE (Jim Busby @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 08:51 PM) Thank You Again Rick / Plus they gave you more time :angry: to trade away Talent That scrunchie face you've got there Jim looks good on ya
  15. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 05:52 PM) That is some nasty movement on his fastball and slider. Kid is pretty filthy. Jesus.
  16. Here's to the beginning of a 10+ game losing streak.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 8, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Cmon 3-2 loss with dingers by TA & Moncada & 8IP by Gio.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2017 -> 07:36 PM) Well poop. Ban yourself
  19. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 6, 2017 -> 09:21 PM) Giants won, Sox and Phillies lose. 1 GB of the Giants for the 2nd pick 2.5 GB of the Phillies for the 1st pick I understand this. The magic number from fathom - I still don't really get even after trying to figure it out for weeks. ( I'm as dense upstairs as a block of wood. )
  20. I love how a simple omitted letter can make a phrase so confusing: "the curve is most likely is four best pitch."
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 5, 2017 -> 06:30 AM) Fangraphs still has the Sox a game worse than the Giants for the 2nd pick. They have 4 left with the Rockies, 6 vs Dbacks, 6 vs Dodgers And 3 with the Sox and Padres That's a pretty rough schedule
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 09:00 AM) Avi doesn't have the trade value yet. If the idea is to trade Avi then give him all of the 2018 season to boost his stock and then dangle him on the trade market over the 2018/19 winter as a much cheaper alternative to signing Harper. If the idea is to keep Avi long term, let's see how he performs next year and go from there. Great thing about Avi is that there's no pressure to trade or extend him. Just wait and see.. This is likely the best post you've made here. ????
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 08:28 PM) Awesome One of the few on this forum who still had faith in him Kopech-Rodon-Giolito-Lopez-Hansen looks better by the second Crazy that not too long ago our righty to lefty SP ratio was the exact inverse of that prospective rotation.
  24. QUOTE (ron883 @ Sep 3, 2017 -> 06:33 PM) Really want to respond to this post on there. I love how no one on that forum has said anything about Giolito's start today or Lopez throwing a quality start on Friday.
