  1. So far so good Humber - way to go big guy!
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 10:08 PM) I'm expecting very little from Jake this year. Anything he gives the Sox is a bonus in my mind. He's injury prone at this stage, folks. That's one side of the coin for sure - and a side which is warranted by reality. However, there is another possibility which is also likely as well. Time will tell... I'm still hopeful and optimistic... if being as such is a fault - then I am glad to be faulted. It has served me very well in all areas of my life outside of baseball and I gladly carry it into my Sox fandom.
  3. This was encouraging to read Thornton's response... Time will tell if he's correct - I'm very pleased to see him own up like this and be a man of integrity. Hopefully he works out... if not, I am confident in our two other options.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) Unfortunately, Chris still hasn't acted like he belongs in the spot either. Yea, he had a bad spring but really - aside from on bad pitch on a 3 - 1 count to Butler in the Royals series - he's been good this year thus far. I just like that he has shown in his college career to have poise and intensity. He also has more plus pitches that he can go to for out pitches. We'll see thou my friend - I sure hope Matt can turn the corner.
  5. It was a really ugly ninth and Matt looked shaky from the start. I was one of the proponents in Sale's corner for closer and am still skeptical with Thornton closing. Hopefully he turns it on from here and can show me to be very wrong. Conversely - hopefully he's on a short rope - I'd hate for Ozzie to keep going to him if results like this continue.
  6. Peavy threw 71 and has thus far reported no issues. Next start - April 13th.
  7. QUOTE (Tuna @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Where did you purchase these tickets? I can't find anything on the site for them... stubhub!
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 03:24 AM) I predict there will be some drinking of alcoholic beverages during this game. By many other in the stadium, I am sure. As hi8is and hi8is Sr. both don't drink. This have changed a lot for me since 2005.
  9. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) Seriously? You just emailed Brooks, and he hooked you up? Do you have any sort of history with him? Or is he just a very nice, accommodating man? I just emailed him and told him my intentions for my dad and the story behind our trip. That's a good marketing director there - doing a small gesture like this does nothing but good for the team. Hopefully after this loss tonight we go on an 8 - 0 run with our bullpen finally getting it together.
  10. QUOTE (kapzk @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 10:44 PM) Hey there ...my first post on this board...hope I fit in with this group. I am extremely excited for this season and for sure that optimism was not wasted in the first series. Let`s keep it going and beat KC Welcome aboard - you'll fit in just fine! Just say away from the folks whom always have a gray cloud hanging overhead.
  11. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) Shameless plug of a favorite neighborhood watering hole Someone else should take you up on this direction - sounds like a wonderful joint. I however, and hi8is Sr.... both don't drink any longer. Gasp.
  12. QUOTE (Smart Ball Sox @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 08:53 PM) I have some feedback for you. Thanks to an nth degree. More than what I expected - thank you again kind Sir. Sounds like the time of a life - which is my intention for my dad. I got an email back from Brooks and he's going to get us on the field at some point too! This is all coming together better than I could have imagined!
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) Fantastic seats, higher end food that they bring to you along with drinks (all inclusive), buffet and a lounge in the back, special parking. I haven't done it, but its supposed to be fantastic. Thanks NorthSide.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 08:35 PM) Don't quote me on that though. Yea, I don't expect that at all - but I did email Brooks to see if he could hook up my dad with something special. Who knows if he'll even read the email thou! Just being in Chicago with my dad is all that is important to me. For all I care, we could watch the games in a bar and I'd always have fond memories.
  15. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 05:11 PM) Floyd has looked sharp this Spring so hopefully he brings it tonite That is my sentiment as well.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) and might get special privileges to the clubhouse before/after the game. Now that would be UNREAL! wow. I'm glad I worked my tail of over the last couple months... this is going to be the time of his life and it's with such joy that I embark on this journey. I'll be in Chicago in under 24 hours! Awesome
  17. Has anyone sat in these seats before? I did something silly and picked up two seats for the last Oakland game for my dad and I as a cap to our weeks trip to Chitown. We leave tomorrow and I'm jazzed! Any feedback about the United Scout seating ( if you've experienced it ) or any other tips about the Cell or Chicago in general will be appricated. Thanks to your feedback I've got a great place booked in the River North / Downtown area. Cheers Soxtalk - you guys are all helping a dream for an old man come through from his son.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 3, 2011 -> 07:45 PM) Peavy threw 59 pitches in a simulated game today. No problems. Goal must be for for him to go out on Friday and throw 80. Then I'm guessing next Wednesday the goal is for 100. Who knows thou - I'm no doctor
  19. Hopefully Ozzie learns to only use Ohman against lefties and Coop can help him with his location. Humber didn't look too bad - just also had location issues. I'm concerned with Matt as the closer with just 2 pitches... I'd have preferred Sale. We'll see how it rides - I think that the bullpen can get it together and is just behind schedule. Fingers crossed - it's gotta get better or things will be ugly / need to change. Again - it's only been 3 games... we've still got 159 more left... so at this point, there's no real reason to make judgments IMO.
  20. Last time i did an outing centered around white sox baseball was in a spring trainning trip to see them for a week in 2005. We all know what happened then. In 1 week - I'll be in Chicago with hi8is Sr. for the first 2 series at the cell. Logically speaking - this must mean that we'll win the series again this year. Delusions of grandeur? Me? No? Scarasm? Wit?? Yes!
  21. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 2, 2011 -> 09:34 AM) time to make the move and drop Rios down in the order... I'm not going to flame you John - it's great to see some support for Carlos. Him, Edwin, and Peavy are my current players whom I expect to surprise a lot of people. With that said - and this isn't any disrespect... It's only been 1 game. I think that if Dunn can play to a .250 / 45 / 100 clip in the 3 hole - we're in good shape. Beckham, Dunn, Konerko, Rios, Quentin... That could be a MURDEROUS 2/3/4/5/6 Throw in Alexi down there in the 8 hole and man - this is going to be a fun year!

  24. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 10:56 PM) Peavy felt no residuals today from 45 pitches tuesday. (per sun times)
