Catch All Anything Thread
My stepdaughter is mad about the fact that she just cleaned her room, which previously looked like a combination of Hurricane Katrina and the BP oil spill, and this afternoon I spent 2 hours getting various s*** out of places they don't belong, like stuffed in the coat closet, behind the couch, left in the dryer for 2 days, or whatever. 80% of the stuff in I moved belonged to her so I just threw it in a big pile in the middle of her room and on her bed. I said hey, looks like you hadn't made as much progress as you thought because you pawned your work off on someone else and nobody felt like doing it this time. If you don't like it, maybe you can use the cellphone your mother pays for that you don't do a thing to earn and call somebody who gives a f***.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 05:56 PM) lol. What is this idiot talking about? Did Jordan say he could average 100 ppg for a season? I gave him the benefit of the doubt because the last paragraph seemed to clear it up, but he really should've explained why he was talking ppg and not 100 in a game.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) Here's Hollinger's take. Read full thing, small excerpt. He starts that off by basically projecting it like he was substituting values in an equation which isn't really the assumptions that are being made. His style of play and physical ability would get him farther today, playing with today's style of ball, than it did when he was in his prime. Whether or not he actually could literally get 100 points in a game is debatable but I don't really think that actual number is the point, really. He brings up how Jordan never came close to scoring 100 in his career, but he didn't because he never really had to. But I do think he'd get 40 ppg.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) Anyone get to watch the Reid/Angle debate? I only saw quotes in articles after words, and heard a few audio clips on the news this AM. How did either of them do? Anyone do anything to make a difference in that race? http://www.slate.com/id/2271188/

2010-2011 NBA Thread
MJ says in today's NBA he'd either foul out or score 100. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=5686980 I'd been saying a for a while that with the way the rules are right now, MJ with his style of play would average 40 ppg, easily. Defense would be different but he would adapt.

Health Care Plan Worker Contributions
My wife's is about what yours is AHB, it sucks. Mine is like $390 a month (family) or somewhere in that range last I looked. I don't know what the employer contributes. Probably a lot.

My poor dad is like the only Democrat in my family and gets all these random anti-Obama emails like the one I just posted and he always forwards them to me like "is this true?" I need to show him how to use Snopes.

In order to believe the following (after Obama ditched his horses*** idea to bill veterans' private insurance for injuries sustained in combat that he ditched almost as soon as it was thought of) you'd have to have literally never heard Obama speak on any topic related to the military, ever, and only gotten your information from Sean Hannity or somebody. It's pretty obviously satire and people forward it in e-mail and say/believe it's an actual quote. Fail.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 06:51 PM) Capitalism has saved the Chilean miners' lives! Conversly, does this mean capitalism killed the West Virginia miners? edit: saw this in a comment, had to include To capitalism: the cause of, and solution to, all life's problems! By this logic, capitalism is directly responsible for the workers that died in the explosion of the BP oil rig because it wouldn't have happened if BP hadn't been driven by profit. Why even bring something like that up? That's just plain old kool-aid drinking.

XFC (Extra Fine Cannabis) would/should be the abbreviation for what I hope is the name of a publicly traded marijuana company I'd buy stock in if it ever becomes 100% legal.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Marx was just a philosopher. He never started any communist revolutions himself. He had been dead for over 30 years before the Russian Revolution. Yeah that's what I was saying. There was no such thing as Communism when Marx was alive. Now as far as anyone seems to know they are the same thing. If Soviet communism = Marxism then even Marx wasn't a "Marxist."

Cutler is lying when he says this was his first concussion, he's had like 4 of them before. He said something to the effect that he doesn't remember parts of the 2nd quarter of the Giants game.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 05:22 PM) Marx had some legitimate criticisms of capitalism. It's just that his prescription for the fix was so unworkable/unrealistic. Yeah, this is the part I couldn't get down with. But when you look at something like, say, wealth consolidation upwards/shrinking of the middle class, Marx probably already said something about it 150 years ago and he is saying "I told you so" from his grave.
