I could live with it if Angelo and Co. at least ATTEMPTED to put something that could once in a while pass as a NFL offensive line. He doesn't, though, and as you watch his various moves in the past 5 years you start to see where the OL is on his priority list - not very high. Since 2006 (he managed to put together a pretty good line through free agency in 2005) his answer is either to keep veteran players a couple of years too long and not draft replacements (Fred Miller, several others), sign bottom of the barrel scrubs from other teams and expect them to start (Frank Omiyale), avoid drafting young OL and/or drafting projects late in the draft and seeing them bust (too many to mention). The only correct decision he's made is drafting Chris Williams and even still the jury is still out there mostly due to the back injury fiasco, and this is negated by signing Orlando Pace anyway. Ok, I'll give him Josh Beekman but that is something he should've done 4 other times since then so there'd actually be depth there. Most of his OL solutions are half-assed - think of the teams that have solid OL like the Colts, Broncos, or the Patriots... do they draft like this? No, they do not.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) I have no idea what you're talking about. Is this via mail? MMS? QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 08:53 AM) I think he's talking about MMS, maybe Verizon loaded some sort of "special" software on his phone, because whatever it is, it doesn't sound normal. Not that I know, since I don't own an Android anyway, but still...sounds odd. Oh, and Kotsay has been impeached, you're mission was successful. Yes MMS. My phone is a Motorola btw and T-mobile is my carrier but when I had a G1 it would do the same thing. Possibly the only thing I hate about the software.

Why do Android phones have such a stupid process for viewing picture messages? It's like it's made difficult on purpose. Why do I have to wait for a slide show to load (even for one pic)and then only have like 3 seconds to look at it until/unless I press pause? Anyone know an app I can use to bypass this dumb s***?

Memo to Chicago Bears offensive linemen: please return your entire weekly paychecks to the Chicago Bears human resources department as soon as possible. This is expected to be repeated until further notice or until all of you appear to be at least partially earning them. Thank you for your compliance.

QUOTE (dmbjeff @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 12:56 PM) Frank was such an awesome hitter. It was an honor as a fan to see someone of his abilities play for the White Sox. Many would argue that Albert Pujols is better than Frank ever was and as a complete player, I would agree, but as hitters, just pure hitters in the batters box, they are mirror images of each other and I am talking Frank's early years, not when he decided to just hit HR's. Great power, great eye, awesome OBP, hit for average. Frank was Pujols before Pujols was.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 12:19 AM) The Dodgers are about the same amount of games out of the playoff hunt as we are, yet they want to dump Manny. Why, oh why, is that? Because he's not the kind of guy you want on your team for any extended period of time. We better not give up anybody good for this aging slacker. But he won't be on the team for any extended period of time. The last few years he's produced big in the playoffs.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) Love the morality argument. Do some people on here actually believe Manny is juicing right now? Because if he's not, then he isnt currently cheating, so the Sox winning has no negative connotations. I just can't bring myself to care about that. So many players were cheating at one time or another that it's a moot point. I mean, I could see if Manny was roiding up NOW but there's no evidence available to us that he is, so really whatever. I don't know why so many Sox fans on Facebook are losing their s*** over this... I mean f*** having a guy with a career average well over .300, gets on base 40% of the time, has 550-something career homers, and still plays at a high level. I could see criticizing him because he's an injury risk, but clubhouse cancer? Steroids? Come on now. He'd be on the team for all of a month if he doesn't get an extension and even that would be pretty short.

So my stepdaughter is quickly approaching the age where I'm going to start having to beat the s*** out of other people's boys. I thought boobs were supposed to take like years to grow? Hers just kind of popped up overnight. WTF. And why do all teenage girls have to be con artists?

The Official Stephen Strasburg needs Tommy John Thread

This really sucks... the hype around this guy was legit and the excitement for watching him was pretty much a consensus. He's great for the game. -
I guess I stand partially corrected, but still the extra turnout hurt and didn't help.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 05:44 PM) Disagree. They may have played a part in it...but the "The gays are coming for your kids!" ad campaign was what really turned things. Any other election where there wasn't such a huge black turnout and that campaign might not have been enough.

QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 10:25 AM) I'm psyched about the Packer offense, line came around towards end of last year and Bulaga has been a real nice addition so far. For a while last year I was wondering who was in more danger of going to the IR, Rodgers or Cutler.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) GOP plans wave of White House probes I actually don't have a problem with this in principle, the exec branch needs oversight in a bad way. But it's just that the GOP tends to blow up trivial bulls*** and turn it into a national issue and it wastes a lot of time and taxpayer dollars. Save the investigations for something that actually matters, not witch hunting.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 09:43 AM) What does this even mean? I'm not talking about politicians, i'm talking about people. The majority of the people in that state voted for a ban. Clearly not ALL of those people were Republicans. You guys act like ONLY republicans are anti-gay, when that's not the case. Black voters tend to be hardcore liberals but don't support gay rights for some reason and they turned out in huge numbers in 2008. If you can point to one thing as the linchpin that got Prop 8 passed, that's probably it.

"Begging the question" is misused virtually every time I see it. By professional writers even.

Jackson was on f***ing fire.

He may or may not have been a HC candidate in 2004 (from the perspective of NFL teams, since the Bears weren't the only one) but all this sudden criticism from the fanbase is silly, 6 years after the fact, after they've made the playoffs twice and one of those was a Super Bowl appearance when most of the ones saying this (not necessarily you Badger) were on Lovie's nuts.
-
QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:17 PM) Fair enough, because when I see "Progressive" I really think just another liberal who is too ashamed to call himself a liberal. That's pretty much true, but it's not so much "shame" as it is that "liberal" had become a dirty word (and still is, really)

Also, I love meathead Bears fans: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2230..._t=feed_comment (not that hard to figure out which one is me, I'm the one whose brain appears to be fully functional)

Bears fans are making a lot of noise lately about why the Bears didn't sign Singletary. He wasn't really a HC candidate in 2004, and it makes no sense to expect the Bears would've fired Lovie (or not extended him immediately after the Super Bowl when his stock was never higher) to hire SF's brand new DC.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 08:13 PM) So...because of batting avg and total RBI, Hawk thinks Markakis is having a worse year this year than last? Completely wrong Hawk. Yeah that is some Joe Morgan level analysis.

Damn, Patterson got pwned there, it looked like he struck out on 2 pitches.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 07:06 PM) I've got 14 of the first 16 home runs meaningful. Well ... I'll be. Should he be playing more? Every day? Over who though? I don't know that I'd start him over Quentin, then the juice starts to get diluted a little.
