AJ's got to be leading the majors in one-pitch outs. -

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 25, 2009 -> 09:11 PM) IMO, best case scenario with Fields is that we send him down to Charlotte for most of this year, he hits (unless AAA pitchers are smart and throw him nothing but fastballs), and when we call him up for the 40 man, he hits a little better. Than, in the offseason, some team trades one of their failed prospects for our failed prospect, a la Matt Thornton for Joe Borchard. As for Anderson, I'm not convinced he's anything more than a 4th OF. However, he should get a lot of playing time this year for at least the next 2 months. Sadly, the only way that'll happen on this team is if either Dye is traded or if Quentin gets shut down for the rest of the season because of his heel, or both. As you say that, BA is in to run for Carlos. -
Jeff Passan doesn't sugar-coat the Peavy trade
lostfan replied to knightni's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So, did any of the posters that were bashing Passan IN THIS THREAD say that? Blanket statements are easier especially when you can separate yourself from the people you're blanketing, also good job completely avoiding the point Kalapse tried to make. -
Robert Randolph and the Family Band - Ain't Nothing Wrong With That - that song kicks ass. That is all.

QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) Damnit lost, I was at the game I didnt know you were gonna be there. I would have a bought you a beer and gave you a warm hug. Why did you wait till the last minute to say something? I wasn't sure I was going until later in the afternoon, and it didn't occur to me that starting the thread via the phone right around game time means that most people are already there/going there and wouldn't see this thread. I checked it during the game and saw no replies and I was like duhhh, nobody replied because if they're at the game they won't see this. lol

QUOTE (shipps @ May 24, 2009 -> 11:01 AM) word is lostfan is the one that started it... lol, I am vehemently anti-wave.

I made this thread way too late, lol

Ironically though, the whole reason SERE does waterboarding in the first place was to give Americans exposure to things done by eastern bloc countries, the Japanese, etc., basically all the "bad" governments that did things we considered immoral. Actually using it was never the point.

So not even 24 hours before I am able to sit down at a PC, and up pops an 88-page thread.

Oh no doubt, california is a f***ing train wreck, I wasn't defending them. I'm just saying even responsible states have to deal with a sudden and unexpected decline in revenue.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 20, 2009 -> 08:15 PM) I am going to have to agree with most, but not all here from Dick. I don't remember that Crede got cut much slack concerning his back injury so why are we making excuses for Fields and his knee. Bottom line is he has one half or 2/3rds of a good season in 2007 HR wise, but his defense has not been real good and possibly he is showing that HR's is all he is trying to hit rather than take a good approach to the plate since he was touted for his 23 dingers. If in fact his knee is the problem he needs to come forward and tell Ozzie and then do what the team says to do. Sad fact is it doesn't appear Vicedo is ready to take over, or we have other options. You say this like crede hurt his back one time then it was all good after that but we kicked him to the curb impatiently.

Just about every state is hurting financially right now, it isn't necessarily caused by bad governing fwiw.

QUOTE (forrestg @ May 20, 2009 -> 05:16 PM) I can't stand all this Lillibridge bashing. I truly believe he is a fine looking 12 year old and when he grows up maybe he can come back to mlb like in that movie about the kid pitching for the cubs.
-
QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ May 20, 2009 -> 04:02 PM) Considering the Cubs/Bulls/Bears have been pretty crappy for the majority of the time, and all 3 have some of the biggest fanbases in their sports.... how is Chicago a fairweather city? Really if there was any team where it was ok to be a fairweather fan for a while it was the Blackhawks, the only other thing that's really comparable is the Lions.

RFK's son considering running for Obama's old seat.

I remember reading somewhere that the kid had gone through chemo and didn't want to go through it again.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ May 20, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) Question is did they mistake Lillibridge as one of the children?

There are rules on what congressmen on the intel committees have to do when they're being briefed. They're not allowed to take notes or anything, and I don't think the CIA has detailed records of what was said either.

QUOTE (BearSox @ May 20, 2009 -> 02:23 PM) Anyone think this whole Pelosi thing has been orchestrated by Obama? I think Obama wants her out, and his guy in. I think he really doesn't like her and doesn't like having to be seen with her in public, but no, the damage done to her is entirely self-inflicted. And the GOP are like sharks in the water, since now people can talk about her instead of something that brings negative attention on them. It doesn't really help Obama.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:59 PM) Ok, so Ill try to not get to detailed. My daughter (who was 4 months old at the time) used to sleep in a crib at the base of our bed. She was a sleep. Time for some Mommy-Daddy time. We're going at it. get done, turn around, and my daughter is awake just watching us. Never did that again! lol Eh they dont have any idea what the hell's going on around then. My stepdaughter is 12 though and she never sleeps, lol.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 20, 2009 -> 01:34 PM) I wish the Democrats would adapt that credo in a lot more areas. I'd be way more open to them if that was so. They do actually but it never gets focused on.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) Last night, Fields was awful in the field. There were 4 potential plays to be made. An average fielder makes at least one, probably two. A great fielder makes 2 probably 3. Brooks Robinson in his prime makes all 4. Fields made none. He really has slow reactions on groundballs. He cannot hit second. That is giving the opponent an advantage. BTW, what's the deal with Pods new 16" softball style of running up and hitting the ball? I could maybe understand it if he was hitting grounders giving him a running start to first base, but everytime he performs this, he hits the ball in the air, something he shouldn't be doing too much of. I didn't say he was good. I doubt if he ever will be any more than average. He is not worse than Betemit though.
-
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 20, 2009 -> 12:00 PM) Is Nix a good fielder at 3B? I don't know. Obviously Betemit is not a glove man, but is he any worse than Fields? Nix is a plus-plus defender, I don't know that he has ever played 3rd but I'm sure he could handle it. Betemit is atrocious. Fields is not as bad this year in the field as people make him out to be.
