  1. Steve Phillips likes the Sox, HR doesn't. ESPN Sportsnation has a poll for our series with the Sox currently leading the "who will win the series" question. Foxsports.com has a poll that says "Which is the best series?", our series again leading. If the Sox can win this series, I think it will be big for us in terms of national attention. Much like the Angels when they beat the vaunted Yanks in '02.
  2. QUOTE(greppson24ottondo @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 06:20 PM) i remember those late afternoon games being majorly affected by the shadows cast over home plate and the mound in the 2000 playoffs. if we can grab some early leads and allow those shadows to neutralize that powerful lineup of theirs then i think we should win this series. I have this horrible memory of Jon Olerud killing us in 2000 and just realized he may have that chance again.
  3. There's 2 interesting battles: Sox pitching vs. Red Sox hitting Sox hitting vs. Red Sox pitching Both are pretty even matchups imo. I'll say the #1 key is White Sox pitching must keep the Red Sox off base as much as possible.
  4. Sporting Odds Bet 365 Pinnacle Sports Betfair Betdac St. Louis 3 3 3.4/1 2.95/1 3.04/1 New York 7/2 10/3 3.5/1 3.51/1 2.85/1 Boston 9/2 9/2 5.1/1 4.8/1 4.8/1 Chicago 13/2 7 7.3/1 8.2/1 7.8/1 Houston 17/2 9 8.5/1 9.5/1 7.8/1 Los Angeles 8 9 7.3/1 7.6/1 7.8/1 Atlanta 17/2 13/2 9.3/1 8.5/1 7.8/1 San Diego 20 22 18 26 12.9/1 I don't think New York or Boston belong that high but I guess past successes are all that matter. Anyone remember what our preseason odds were?
  5. You don't win 99 games by superstition, you win 99 games because damnit YOU ARE GOOD
  6. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) I am, and the one time where I'm totally all for the Cubs, they're going to lose. Yeah, what's so lovable about this? It kinda sucks. I don't get it.
  7. Tuesday afternoon right? Wednesday evening probably?
  8. QUOTE(Wanne @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) The crowd at Fenway gave a standing O when they dropped the 9 on the Sox score. The Red Sox in the dugout didn't look all too thrilled though. Maybe cause they were gettin their asses kicked at the time.
  9. Lidge will be coming in with at least a 2 run lead. The Phillies put up a good run late but all those head to head losses to Houston hurt.
  10. QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Oct 2, 2005 -> 03:23 PM) Does anyone know the pitching matchups for the series? Clement vs Contreras Wells vs Buehrle Wakefield vs Garcia Schilling vs Garland? Clement vs Contreras?
  11. Whatever happens in the next few days will be forever burned into my permanent Sox memory. I just hope there's more good moments left in this season. Finishing on a 5 game winning streak headed into the postseason is certainly a good way to go.
  12. Tied for the 2nd most wins in Sox history. No matter what happens, this has been one helluva season.
  13. I think I am today. They've just rallied off Oswalt to take a 4-3 lead. I love one game playoffs and really want to see Philly get a shot at the wild card.
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) 1-5 in thier last 6 games, including a loss to the Royals, and two to the D-rays. One to the Knights.
  15. Can we actually convert a save against Cleveland for once?
  16. 2nd and 3rd 1 out. Looks like Marte will get to blow the save on his own this time. Unless Politte wants one.
  17. ROFLMAO GOOOCH!!!!!!! Good to see him heating it up.
  18. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 12:05 PM) This is obviously going to be Rowands, Jurassic and AJ's spots in the playoffs. Am I the only one that likes Death in the 3 hole? A Hot Carl is ok too though.
  19. QUOTE(YASNY @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 01:41 AM) 97 wins in spite of the manager ... Yep, that's logical :rolly I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that every team has a large number of fans that hate their manager. I've seen tons of "Fire Wedge" posts on the Cleveland boards and I'm sure there's Braves fans that hate Cox because he hasn't won but one World Series. Looking at the names and stats of our lineup, I can't think of many managers that would have won 97 games with it either. I just hope the offseason rejuvenates Ozzie and he learns better how to handle the stresses of a pennant race.
