  1. QUOTE (CSF @ Jul 10, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) Baseball America is also wondering why Carter hasn't been moved up: From their Hot Sheet: I'm sure that they have their reasons for not moving him yet, they didn't just forget about him I promise you that. My guess would be that he's either A. not mentally ready yet and they don't want to crush his confidence, B. he's got a glitch in his mechanics that he's working on first, C. he's got a new pitch that he's working on or, D. there's a coach in Kanny that they really want him to work with for an extended period of time. It's quite obviously not about his numbers/stuff because he's been dominating the Sally league, 120k's in 96ip, that's gnarly, especially considering his low bb rate.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 11, 2009 -> 09:56 PM) No, it's the other way around. His defense is suspect and his offense was his strength in college. yes
  3. Charlotte B Ham- completion of game delayed on 6/27 B Ham game 2 W-S Kanny Bristol
  4. I'll give the SP nod to Buehrle because of his great pickoff move
  5. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 9, 2009 -> 08:00 PM) Are you forgetting about the years he pitched in the AL and when he pitched pretty damn solid for the A's in the playoffs? Even in his sophomore season he was very solid for the Cards in the 04 WS. He's proven in both leagues. Still, dominating the NL West is not the same as dominating the AL East. I understand that he's a proven star but Halladay pitches in the pressure cooker that is the AL East, that league is very good every single season and have two teams with murderers row lineups and he performs every single season against them, that earns big time kudos and puts him ahead of Haren in my eyes.
  6. Halladay pitches in one of the toughest divisions year in and year out while Haren pitches in a pretty weak NL division. Lots different going up against San Diego LA and Colorado all year versus Boston NY and Tampa Bay.
  7. Just noticed that Cook is in RF in for Charlotte, finally got a well deserved promotion though it's probably too late for him unless he pulls a Podsednik.
  8. Carter has 10k's and 0bb's through 5IP
  9. Charlotte v. Norfolk Birmingham v. Mississippi Winston-Salem v. just regular Salem Kanny v. Lakewood Bristol v. Burlington GF v. Ogden
  10. lets go nice and slow with him so we can have him for the entire second half
  11. QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 6, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) I dont understand why he uses the term "bush league attitude". Is it just to get attention for someone to read. I must be missing something. he's saying bush league attitude to refer to his passion and desire for the game as opposed to manny's couldn't care less attitude
  12. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jul 5, 2009 -> 08:12 AM) The Sox took awhile with Beckham, too. My guess Mitchell signs a week before the Aug. 15 deadline. He will probably start in Kanny just like Gordon did. They probably want to give the kid a break after non-stop sporting activity this year (from football to baseball, how many days off has he actually had?) didn't play football this season
  13. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 06:49 PM) Am I the only person who finds it strange that KW Jr. only DH's? My guess is that it is so he can focus solely on hit hitting which by all accounts is his weakest tool.
  14. QUOTE (Cali @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 02:16 PM) He's still raking: .339/.387/.688 6 HR 33 RBI 5 2B 8 3B Think it's about time to move him back to Bristol? I'm sure his D is still raw, but good to see him mashing.... He has 8 errors so far which would put him on pace for approximately 50 in a 162 game season. Maybe a move to 3B or a corner OF spot is in his near future.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 3, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) Kroeger sucks in the field, that's been known for a while. Thanks for the observations though! He has 9 E's in the outfield so far this season. That's pretty awful for any outfielder let alone a corner OF.
  16. Dan Remenowsky has 53K's and just 7BB in 30.2 IP. 2.05 ERA and .191 BAA, not bad for an undrafted FA. Anyone know what kind of stuff he has??? Those are damn impressive numbers.
  17. Kanny finally broke up the no hitter with a single by Jorge Castillo
  18. Charlotte v Durham B-Ham v Mobile W-S v Lynchburg Kanny v Hagerstown Nevin Griffith getting his first start at low A Bristol v Johnson City there, its done
  19. Miguel Gonzalez- 18 year old catcher for Bristol with his first homer on the season. He was awesome last year in the DSL and is off to a great start in Bristol. I think that he will be someone to follow.
  20. Phegley recently signed for $888,600 and is starting his pro career at Kannapolis. Short scouting video Looks like he runs pretty well for a catcher. From baseballdraftreport.com from pgcrosschecker.com from sportingnews.com
  21. Charlotte v Buffalo B ham v Mississippi W-S v Frederick Kanny v Hickory Bristol v Princeton GF v Billings hasn't started yet
  22. Saw a blurb today that said Mitchell was close to signing and should be inked within next few days. Don't really feel like looking for the source though, you're just going to have to take my word for it.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) Actually it could be, didn't B-Ham just wrap up its playoff spot right at the time all those promotions happened? Yes, there were promotions across all levels of our minor league system when Allen got moved up. It was completely a coincidence. He's not ready for the majors yet and should spend at least a half season in AAA. Probably will get some AB's as a sept callup but he needs to get his AB's in AAA before we can start anointing him as our future 1b.
  24. They still have Lowrie as their future SS and won't really be willing to give up Bucholz for anything less than a major return. They seem to think that he's an elite talent, an #1 starter type and probably wouldn't give him up for one + year of Dye unless we threw in a top prospect along the lines of Poreda as well.
