QUOTE (BearSox @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 07:06 PM) Nice to see Hudson with another great outing, he is my AAP (which I need to make now that I am off of suspension). I think within the next year or two he will be one of our top prospects. From watching his scouting video when we drafted him, he has a plus fastball which sits in the lower-mid 90's with excellent movement. I don't know much about his other stuff, but from judging by his numbers so far this season, I'd say they have some potential. now I remember watching his video. his fastball has crazy tailing action at the very end, it seemed to move a good 8-12 inches in the last 15 feet or so

Going backwards today Bristol v Elizabethtown Vargas 4-5 2hr 3 rbi Silverio 1-4 1k (this is his standard stat line over the past month since his hot start) Kendall 2-5 2B hitting .336 in first pro season Great Falls v Missoula Estill 1-2 HR 2R BB K Lots of K's and BB's for Estill in his second season at GF. His average is finally above the Mendoza line after a terrible start Celis 3-3 2 2B 2RBI. He's from our DSL 2 team, having a good first season in the states. has great plate discipline which seems to be fairly common for DSL players (at least our dsl players) Hudson 5IP 0R 4BB 7K. He's got great peripherals so far, I'd like to know what kind of stuff he has. Kannapolis v Hagerstown Escobar 0-5 3k -in a bit of a slump lately Morel 2-5 3B 3RBI only his 3rd extra base hit at Kanny Marrero 2-2 2B HR 2RBI 2BB. He's hit well in two pro seasons after being a free agent signing W-S v Wilmington Hernandez 2-3 HR. He's a switch hitting catcher with more BB than K's and a good OBP Carter 4IP 4ER 3BB 1K. gets the loss, been struggling in his first go round at high-a Birmingham v Chatanooga Harrell and O'Malley combine to go 5.1ip 12R 6ER 16 hits 3BB Gartrell 3-4 2B Allen 0-2 BB- more BB than K's in AA, good sign of progress for him Cruz 3-4 2HR 4RBI Charlotte v Syracuse Owens 1-4 Getz 1-4 Eldred 2-4 Huffman 1-4 HR

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 06:54 PM) This is horse s***. AJ gets so much unearned garbage thrown his way. The guy is absolutely not a hothead. In fact, he seems to be quite level-headed. You could make a negative list of anything in baseball, and they'd always just put AJ first because people just believe it when they see it. EDIT: Not necessarily first, but he'd be on any of the lists. Exactly, when is the last time you saw AJ lose his cool. It's always other people i.e. Barrett or Mike Soscia (when AJ took first on the ball in the dirt in 05 divisional) who freak out when AJ is around. I'm not saying he doesn't go out of his way to fu** with people but he never loses it.

I'm not sure if we really need to "rebuild" as much as we need to get rid of some dead wood. We do have some promising young players to build around both in the field and on the mound but I do think that it's time to start getting younger. How many more seasons can Thome and Dye continue to hit like they have, Konerko has seemingly hit the wall and I'm just not sure what you're going to get on a nightly basis from Contreras and Vasquez. We don't need a total rebuild as much as we need a re-shuffling of a few players/positions

QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) Possibly Thome, Griffey, OC, Crede, Toby Thome probably won't but you did forget Uribe as well.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 5, 2008 -> 09:46 AM) I think Beckham might be waiting for the other guys to sign, especially since it's guys who are looking for huge deals. I'm not too concerned about Beckham not signing. Remember this...if for some reason he doesn't sign, we get the 8th pick compensation again. Danks is the one that I really want us to sign considering we'll get the compensatory pick if Beckham goes back to college.

I really think that they blew it on this list. Ozzie may be a loud mouth but Lou Pinella is known for screaming at his own players and kicking dirt on umpires. As far as AJ goes he's no hothead, he gets thrown at as much as anyone in the league and he never charges the mound he just takes his base, people just don't like him because he's kind of a jerk, but with AJ all his jerky behavior I think is a totally premeditated attempt to get under the skin of the other teams (and it works too). Being a hothead means that you lose your temper and are out of control while AJ is always under control. Milton Bradley or Kenny Rodgers deserve the top spot on this list.

Kuhn is tearing the cover off at Great Falls. Anybody know anything about him?

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 4, 2008 -> 12:37 PM) Was it Carrasco that missed a Royals hitter in the first series after the ASB? This whole thing is so stupid, I have no problem with managers ordering pitchers to hit the opposition. The only time I have a problem with a pitcher throwing at a hitter is if it's in retaliation for a homer hit by the batter before. When i'm playing MLB 2K8 I've got no problem throwing at the next batter after a home run. I don't think it's a big deal

It would be great to see Link be able to contribute in the majors considering he was mostly just a throw-in for Mackowiack

Doesn't look like there's a whole lot going on with Beckham right now but that could be said for most of the top ten picks. http://draft.mlblogs.com/archives/2008/08/...ne_looming.html

I don't think we need to sign any of those second basemen. Getz has earned a shot at second next year

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 2, 2008 -> 07:50 AM) Could just put Paulo Orlando on the 40 man and have him destroy the basepaths in September. I was talking more about people who could conceivably be brought up to the big league team -

You want speed then we've got Owens in AAA right now, he's just come back from an injury and is hitting the ball pretty well right now. Also you'd have to come up with a pretty good argument as to how he isn't the fastest baserunner in the system right now -
What player would you most like to have seen play for Sox?
bighurt4life replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I already got to see my all time favorite in a Sox uni when Bo Jackson played for the team. BTW... Griffey Jr. looks pretty good in a Sox hat. -
Crede is in the lineup for Charlotte tonight 0-3 so far. He's also gotten an error now I see.

QUOTE (Nokona @ Aug 1, 2008 -> 08:43 AM) The Bill Haverchuk hate is just unacceptable. I used to watch that show. Lots of talented actors/actresses got their start there. several of them are now doing lots of movies, like pineapple express for instance
