  1. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 18, 2009 -> 12:26 PM) Maybe this will be the turnaround point then? And not the ranaground The reach-around?
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 18, 2009 -> 12:08 PM) Gameday had Richard's first pitch about 3" over the plate and well above the knees and it was called a ball Gameday had 2 balls in the zone v. Scutaro, 1 v. Rios, and 1 v. Wells.
  3. Angels and Dodgers probably get more TV money. Possibly better sponsorships as well. Supposedly the Nationals and White Sox (in that order) put the highest percentage of their revenue towards player salaries.
  4. In early September of 2007 Terry said that the following players, according to his sources, would not be back with the White Sox: Pods, Cintron, Uribe, Hall, Aardsma, Sisco, Garland, Macdougal. Hardly a controversial list. But he was right about Pods, Cintron, Aardsma, Sisco, and Garland. By most accounts, they wanted Uribe gone, but didn't have anyone else (Cabrera) in place until after the deadline to resign him. This doesn't prove that he has decent White Sox sources at all, but it is a little data point. I don't think saying anything about Jeff Marquez would get listeners or callers riled up. I don't think he has any incentive to make that up.
  5. QUOTE (jphat007 @ May 9, 2009 -> 08:40 PM) Hahahahah. wtf was carlos doing. He was planning on mowing over the catcher, but the catcher wasn't really in the line nor did he have the ball. Goofy Mr. Intensity.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 9, 2009 -> 09:26 AM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/fieldi...lumn=zoneRating Ramirez has only made two errors...I think everyone is just down on him because of his offensive struggles. He certainly, with the exception of one game, hasn't hurt the White Sox at that position. He's in the top half in fielding percentage and #2 in zone rating. I'll just say he has been at least average for the position and maybe above average for an MLB SS. The one thing I've noticed is that he has a hesitation about diving for balls that's alarming. I'll also add that defensive ratings don't mean much to me until they're bettered, but to move someone who has played 40 games there 8 years ago....I need to see a lot more, because Nix was very rough the other night at 3B. ESPN's zone ratings have been messed up all season. Zone Rating is a percentage (fielding x percent of the balls hit to your position's zone). The shortstops are not fielding 6% of the balls hit to their zone--the percentages should be in the 80s and 90s.
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 8, 2009 -> 03:40 PM) Wait, are we forgetting that he does absolutely nothing? I can hear it alrerady..."But his OBP is always around .400 wha wha wha". He is dead wait on the basepaths. Still takes 3 consecutive hits to get him in. "But his OBP is .400 wha wha wha wha, that is such a great OBP wha wha wha, all hail King Jimmy's high OBP" Shut up. So a guy who gets 1 hit every week and a couple walks, along with 9000 strikeouts in that same week is worth 5 mil+?? Jim "I kill scoring opportunities like it's my one and only profession" Thome is a great man, but he shouldn't back up Quentin, who would really benefit from someone who could rake behind him. Bat Thome way lower, he isn't feared by anybody any more. Great guy, but I like great Sox teams even more. His April and May last year were very similar to this one. He ended up scoring 93 runs in 149 games--which is more than a lot of teams got out of their #4 hitter for all 162 games.
  8. It's not a percentage. It's a score derived from a formula--like passer rating or something like that.
  9. Scalabrini wore the headband for medical reasons and told some of the national announcers "No Will Ferrell jokes, please." They also referred to him as Jackie Moon--I don't think Stacey came up with that one--if he did, he wasn't the only one.
  10. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 3, 2009 -> 09:52 AM) We as in the US taxpayer? Certainly you jest. "We", in this case, is the NFL, who does not see extra revenue from the hotel rooms, meals, etc. So the question then becomes why would the NFL not take more money, expand their market, and play the game overseas? As NSS points out, many NFL teams are automatically blocked from having it in their city. So for those teams it is all about the revenue. I would rather the game go to the previous years winner. The stadiums the NFL plays in are largely financed on the taxpayer's dime. Does that amount to a legal obligation to play the Superbowl stateside? No. An ethical obligation? Arguably.
  11. No transaction has been announced yet. He'll probably be DFAed tomorrow and clear waivers. My guess, anyway.
  12. Thome OPSed .781 in April last year and .643 in May. It's not out of the question for him to match his very solid 2008 numbers.
  13. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 02:11 PM) There goes our best scoring opportunity of the game. Anderson and Ramirez will be in trouble with that big curveball. Betemit, too. Over/under on White Sox hits today? 3, 4 or 5? QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 02:14 PM) what up Miss Cleo Bump.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) Career in 200+ ab's with runners on base. 224 BA, 671 OPS. Yeah, those are pretty much his career averages in any situation.
  15. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Apr 29, 2009 -> 04:01 PM) Wait, I thought everyone would be happy with him hitting .265? He's always faltered in RBI opportunities, but it's unfair to say he hasn't made adjustments, as it's easy to tell he has already this year. It probably doesn't include that AB, but he was 353 .353 .412 w/RISP this season.
  16. QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) At work. What happened? Last seconds of OT, Miller drove and was slapped by Rondo. Missed the shot and went to the line, bleeding. Missed the first free throw. Had to miss the second one on purpose and missed the rim so it's automatically Boston ball.
  17. Wennington is laying into VDN for not doubling Pierce or trying a big defender. How many times do you get burnt on the same play?
  18. Liked Brian's approach that AB, but his swing is still funky.
  19. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Apr 27, 2009 -> 07:40 AM) I'm curious about this as well. If it was actually the city that moved it, they might have been able to get the location from the city's website using the VIN.
  20. Tyrus noticed Rose, paused, then dribbled the ball to get fouled?! Wow.
  21. Whiff on the hit and run and BA is out. I don't think Lilli really has the plate coverage for a hit and run--he's so small.
  22. Yes, BA fouling off and taking pitches till he scorches an infield single.
  23. Stone said something about Halladay being at 55 pitches, but Gameday has him at 43 several pitches later.
  24. Well, his average is going to go down because those aren't going to keep falling in. I think he can stick around .270, though.
