  1. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Feb 4, 2018 -> 03:36 PM) I'm high on the offensive profile but he needs to stay at C for it not to be fairly ordinary I feel like he can hit 25 HR with a .380 OBP. That's what Matt Carpenter did last year at 1B and ended with a 2.9 WAR. What's wrong with that offensive profile for a 1B? It's not like if he can't catch then he's worthless. His bat will play just fine at 1B or DH, even if he fails at catcher.
  2. Obviously rooting for then Eagles (despite being a Cowboys fan), because I'm A GOD DAMN AMERICAN. But above all, I'm rooting for my squares.
  3. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 06:26 AM) That's bold to do both No, he DOESN'T think they get Darvish. He put Darvish at 60/40 to the Cubs. Said they likely get Archer, and then might still have a trade lined up w/ the Indians or could sign Arrieta/Cobb. They want 2 SP.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 2, 2018 -> 12:11 AM) He doesn't expect them to get Darvish, but does think they get Archer for 4 pieces Pegged it at an 85% chance they get Archer too.
  5. QUOTE (wrathofhahn @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 03:35 PM) Probably inregards to a FA. Darvish maybe? Yup, that was his update tonight. The meeting was to go over Darvish strategy. The idea is they know what the Rays want for Archer, but want to probably wait on what Darvish does before pulling the trigger. Darvish expected to make his decision Monday, and then we may see a flurry of trades and signings that have been held up by him.
  6. Brewers may be close to making a move. Front Office called for a big meeting this afternoon according to a Brewers insider.
  7. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 11:34 AM) RDR2 delayed again. Release date set for October 26. While it gives me more time for many other games I plan to get this Spring, it's still a disappointment.
  8. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 11:47 PM) yea, but he can't hit. If he can even just be a slightly below average hitter, that's pretty much what Delino DeShields is, and he was worth about 2.5 WAR last year in a full season because of his similarly value defense and baserunning to Engel. I think the #1 factor for Engel is just cutting those strikeouts way down. He was at an amazing 34.8% last year. If he can also bring that down to DeShields' level of 24%, it will cause his average to go up because just making contact will allow for his speed to create a few hits. He can be a perfect average MLB player with every other part of his game remaining unchanged, as long as he makes more contact. Easier said than done, and an issue a LOT of players struggle with, but his defense and speed provide enough value to carry the rest.
  9. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 11:12 PM) Eierman looks good, but he would have to show that he would definitely stay at short to move up boards, but the bigger problem is that he struggled mightily this past summer with the national team and teams are wondering if he can hit with wood. Its the same reason Seth Beer probably can't move up too much even if he has a great year. Also I don't know if the Sox would have him rated higher than they did Burger last year because I think he had a lot more strikeouts than Burger and we know the Sox value guys with low strikeouts and high walk rates. That's why I could actually see us taking a flier on Beer in the second round because even when he struggled with wood, he still walked a ton and didn't strike out a lot. I would cream my jorts for Beer in the 2nd RD.
  10. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 10:10 AM) With all the hype around Eloy, I am surprised there hasn't been more talk about Eloy STARTING the season in Charlotte. Assuming he starts in Birmingham, how soon do we see him get promoted to the Knights? Mid-May? Hopefully not very long at all, because I'm going to see the Knights play a couple games April 21st and 22nd.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 06:32 PM) I'm hoping Eierman just goes bonkers this year and becomes a top 5 pick. In the games I saw last year, he was more impressive than Burger by a gigantic amount. I think this is the guy I was stuck on last summer when I was thinking of a stud SS coming out of college that I really wanted the Sox to go after. Pretty sure it was Eierman and I saw him because I was watching Burger's games.
  12. I enjoy the thought process there, and Engel's ability to understand it.
  13. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 12:47 PM) I've got Lopez penciled in as a mid-rotation started for the next half decade. 1. Kopech 2. Rodon 3. Giolito 4. Lopez 5. Hansen With guys like Cease, Dunning, Fulmer, Adams, Stephens, Guerrero, Clarkin, Viera, Bummer filling out the pen. I could see Dunning in the startwe mix if one of those guys fail, or get traded. And you forget about possibly our biggest bullpen arm of them all, Zack Burdi.
  14. No one has screamed "Take the best player available!!!" yet? Wow, i'm impressed. 1) De Sadas 2) Hankins 3) Kelenic 4) Singer 5) Gorman
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 10:04 PM) I watch the TV with the sound off and listen to the radio for the games. If Farmer goes (depending on the replacement) I may have to just the visual. This will on the other hand probably make my wife happy. Woah fella, this is a family friendly message board.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 30, 2018 -> 05:50 PM) I think the wave of the future is the streaming live content....I currently enjoy indoor cycling, which is nice because it’s a great workout but doesn’t tend to cause injuries...but it could be any kind of live streaming workout where there is an opportunity to keep things fresh and variable. I agree, and the community effect too. The idea of you and your friends or family all working out to the same thing live each day/night is a cool way to keep each other motivated and accountable.
  17. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jul 2, 2017 -> 11:08 PM) Weighed in at 240.8 on Saturday. Only down 3 since I started my gym membership, but I was also had a weigh in at 247 last week because of all the s*** food from my birthday week. It's sad seeing this from 6 months ago and realizing I am usually around 245-248 now. I guess I can probably blame some of that on the holidays and the cold weather killing a lot of motivation to go outside or go to the gym, but I was still hoping to be under 230 by now. I also wonder how much not playing volleyball right now actually affects that too. Next league starts up February 8th, so hopefully that helps me get down to 240 again soon.
  18. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 05:18 PM) MLBpipeline released their best tools winners out of the top 100. Below are the Sox who were mentioned: Best Power: Jimenez (winner) Best Fastball: Kopech (runner-up) Best Slider: Kopech (runner-up) Best Curve: Cease (runner-up) Best Command: Dunning (runner-up) By runner-up, do you mean...finished 2nd? Or just "these are the other guys we considered"? Because if that means 2nd....then f***, that's amazing.
  19. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Jan 29, 2018 -> 02:08 AM) I cannot get over the Sox losing Tatis Jr. in the Shields trade. I was mad about it when it happened and now it just irks the he11 out of me when I see it come up, like it did at Soxfest. That will turn out to be the worst trade in White Sox history. Meh.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 28, 2018 -> 08:49 AM) Sorry, financial position = I own Tesla stock. Didn’t mean to imply I work there. I picked up the Model X last night. They let me play with the P100D version with the 22-inch wheels. It’s black with the 7-seat configuration, white interior. The fit and finish on this thing is not what it is on my Audi Q7. It’s not cheap feeling, but if you’ve been in any of the high end Audi’s, BMWs or Mercedes, you can definitely tell the difference. That’s not to say it still isn’t a very nice car, but the interior feels more like that in the lower tier levels of luxury brands. If you can live with that though...it is definitely a game changer. The performance is off the charts. Last night I took it on the freeway, went up to one of the higher points in the Vegas valley, and just sort of looked over all the lights. I then put it ludicrous mode and went from about 0-80 in about 3.2 seconds. It honestly feels otherworldly. I’ve driven some quick cars before, and this is just completely different, at least from 0-100 or so. And even though I live in the middle of the desert, I can tell you the number of times I’ve driven more than 100 mph in my life on one hand. The technology is pretty cool. I’m coming from a very tech-heavy vehicle already, and so while most of my enjoyment in this vehicle comes from the massive center screen and the voice-controlled streaming audio, it isn’t completely unparalleled if you’ve been in any high-end luxury cars from the last year or so. The true breakthrough, imo, is the software updates. The fact that Tesla actually adds functionality and features (other than trivial things, like updating the navigation or something) is such a huge advantage over pretty much every other vehicle out there. Oh, and the falcon wing doors....scared the s*** out of my 2 year old...I think he felt he was being kidnapped by aliens. I’ll post more after more driving today, including a charge-up at the supercharger. Awesome. How did you like the white seats? I'm going to select that option for mine, provided it's either free or affordable ($1000 or less). And did you try out autopilot 2.0 at all?
  21. QUOTE (InTheDriversSeat @ Jan 28, 2018 -> 06:14 AM) Merlin Media, the company that actually owns WLUP and WKQX, has indicated that it will operate the stations after Cumulus gets approval from the bankruptcy judge to back out of the arrangement. My guess is that the Bulls and White Sox may be talking to Randy Michaels (the man in charge of Merlin Media). I may be totally wrong, but I don't see many possibilities for the Bulls & Sox to land on any other big music-orientend FM station in Chicago. Perhaps the Bulls could go to the new Rap Oldies station owned by Entercom (formerly CBS), '104.3 Jams' WBMX (formerly Classic Hits 'K-Hits' WJMK). http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/ct-...0119-story.html . Omg, if the Sox went to 104.3, I would never need to change the station in the summer.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 26, 2018 -> 04:43 PM) Since I have a significant position in Tesla, and also just because I am a big car guy, I decided to schedule a test drive and see exactly what kind of service/product Tesla offers. Set up an appointment for this morning and test drove a Model S P100D. WOW. What a machine! Was really impressed with everything, from the service, to the products, to the business model, etc. Now they are trying to put the hard sell on me of course. So I’m going to take home a Model X tomorrow night and drive it for the weekend. Should be fun. What does that mean? My girlfriend and I test drove the Model S P100D a couple of months ago. We of course did the 0-60 launch a couple of times. Not quite as jarring as the first time I did it last year, even in a lesser model, but still quite the feeling. I still have yet to test drive the Model X, although I imagine it's a very similar experience. I'm dying for a Chicago location to get the Model 3 so I can make sure I 100% love it before I commit to my purchase.
  23. Had a really great time at my first ever SoxFest! I was really bummed I didn't make it in time to be in the room during the opening ceremony. I was in the "viewing room" above with a few hundred other fans. But I made up for it by asking Hahn a couple questions at the first seminar of the evening. My first question, was, of course, whether my RedLineRadio "Hahn" shirt was "A GREAT shirt, or THE GREATEST shirt". Hahn chuckled and muttered that he is still waiting for his commission on that shirt. Then I asked if he anticipate the record-high $68M contract given out to Abreu to be broken next off-season (referring to Machado, without saying it), and he told me that they have offered 9-figure contracts in the past, and to get the idea of the Sox not offering big money to anyone out of our heads. There is a video of the Hahn shirt question on twitter that WhiteSoxDave retweeted. I also took a video of my 2nd question, but didn't post it anywhere. From there I got autographs and shook the hands of 8 players. My observations of the players were that Giolito, Rodon, and Fulmer are extremely outgoing and excited to interact with fans. Hansen barely smiled or looked at anyone. Cease wouldn't stop smiling, although he looked more nervous/shy than anything. Everyone else was generally friendly and accommodating. Walking through the hall my crew walked RIGHT PAST Moncada when he was on his way to go to the signing booth. I didn't even recognize it was him until about 3 feet away. We made brief eye contact and then all I could muster was "Oh s***!" and I pointed him out to my crew as he and Yolmer (who I didn't notice at all the first time) walked by. Someone no one else seemed to notice him, it was kind of funny. I then stumbled upon Sierra Santos doing a segment with Dylan Cease and a kid playing Twister. Somehow, again, no one seemed to notice. So it was literally myself, Cease, Sierra, the kid, a camera man, and the kid's parents. I watched and snapped some pics and then ultimately Cease's knee touched the ground and Sierra went to me for a ruling. I decided, as I think are the rules, that a knee down means you lost. So the kid won. I later apologized to Cease in the autograph line for having to call him out on it, but he said he was relieved the kid won so he didn't have to feel bad. lol. Bought a few things at the Sox garage sale. Sox pint glass for $4. Paid $2 for a Chris Sale stretch-armstrong somehow. Paid $1 for a mini souvenir bat. And then paid $10 for game worn pants by former Sox Deunte Heath. They are the 1983 style pants. Can't believe they were only $10, I'm actually really stoked about it. The twitter-vending machine earned me an autographed baseball. #18, but honestly can't read the autograph. I think it might be Saladino, so I sent a pic to my buddy who is friends with Tyler to find out. Then, at the end of the night when everyone was leaving, I again found myself in the presence of White Sox players that SOMEHOW no one seemed to notice. I was standing outside the Hilton waiting for my girlfriend to come pick me up, and out walk Kopech, Giolito, and their lady friends. The four of them just standing there outside next to me. They are going on about their plans for the night and Giolito was talking about his shoe collection. I was pretty much stunned that no one was around hounding them for autographs or pictures. So, without wanting to bug them too much, and Giolito noticing that I was looking shocked, I asked "Hey, do you might if a take a snapchat real quick? I didn't want to be creepy and just take a pic." Kopech looked up but just ignored it. Giolito smiled and said "Yeah man, of course! We are here for you guys this weekend, that's what this is about". I didn't ask them to pose or to be in it, I more or less just wanted someone to believe me that I was standing outside with them waiting for a ride. When their Uber finally pulled up, we all said bye to each other and I told Kopech to have a good night and good luck this year. He said "Thanks man, I appreciate that" and took off. I forgot to save my snapchat story like an idiot, but some pictures I did download or just take with my regular camera app, so I'll post some stuff in the next post.
  24. Speaking of Santana, I had no idea he hit 30 HR last year. The dude hit a ton of opposite field HR last year, and DEEP opposite, and pole-hugging even. According to statcast, he hit 10 HR to dead RF. He hit another 4 to RCF. And then another 2 just to the right of dead CF. So technically, he hit 16 of his 30 HR oppo last year.
  25. The insider on Brewerfan.net who gave Yelich to Brewers a "95% chance" of happening a few days ago, and has broken other trades, says Domingo Santana will be traded to an AL team, possibly as early as tomorrow. And also says there is another smaller trade in the works besides the Santana trade.
