  1. I joked about this on Twitter when the original tweet about Hahn holding a conference Monday came out, but holy s*** this would be awesome. I would be 100x more excited about KW leaving than Robin leaving.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 09:21 PM) The Sox are picking 12th next year unless they win and the Pirates lose tomorrow. Sale on the mound. Pirates trying to eliminate the Cardinals chances. I think you mean the Sox are picking 13th unless the Sox lose tomorrow and the Pirates win. As it stands tonight, the Sox have fist-f***ed themselves from the 10th pick to the 13th pick over the last month.
  3. Latavius Murray, Crowell, Baldwin, Fuller, Beasley. Those are my options for my 2 WR and a flex spot. They are all projected to get 7-9 points. So far I have Baldwin/Beasley/Crowell in there. But Fuller against Tennessee is inticing, and Murray has scored a TD each week, even though his touches keep going down. Ugh, I have a really tough matchup this week so I am going to second guess myself so much.
  4. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 03:37 AM) And you honestly feel he has a chance to finish ahead of Porcello, Britton, Kluber, Verlander, Happ, Hamels, etc.? A chance? Yeah, absolutely. I think Porcello gets it, but I don't think it will be a landslide and it would totally shock me if Kluber won it either. I don't think Britton, Verlander, Happ, or Hamels have a chance.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 1, 2016 -> 03:14 AM) Sale is not close to winning...but we can continue to live in the imaginary universe where 45+ voting sportswriters (still the majority of the BBWAA) follow sabre stats more than traditional ones. Barring a really bad start Sunday, Sale has locked up the fWAR and pWAR titles. That's why I posted what he needs to do ERA and WHIP wise to be better than Porcello. If he accomplishes that, then the only traditional stats the old-thinking writers can point to is wins and walks. Sale would have the advantage in IP, ERA, K, WHIP, H/9.
  6. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 06:29 PM) Game will start late due to Ortiz Tribute. It may be a distraction for Porcello. Porcello had a mediocre outing. At the least, probably didn't increase his WAR at at, just inflated his ERA and BB/9 a tad. 6 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 HR. ERA went from 3.11 to 3.15. WHIP up to 1.008 Sale needs to go 7 1/3 IP, 1 ER to beat Porcello's ERA. Sale needs to allow only 2 baserunners over that 7 1/3 IP to beat Porcello's WHIP.
  7. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Bill Burr fan? Absolutely.
  8. Porcello makes his final start tonight. Could really use a nice RIGHT THERE FRED from Toronto to knock down that pretty ERA.
  9. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 02:11 PM) I was in Section 531. That game felt like a World Series game. I was in a skybox behind home plate. I got pics of Thome connecting with that moonshot, and Griffey throwing out the runner at home.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 30, 2016 -> 10:13 AM) About to acquire David Johnson and Minnesota defense for Devonta Freeman and Julian Edelman. I need the stability at RB and feel Johnson helps set me there with Forte. I should be ok for the time being. Holy balls That's a great trade for you
  11. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) I'm going to harp on this again after a hiatus. Why are they playing a guy like Leury Garcia (who has had hundreds of MLB at-bats and just isn't good) and Avisail Garcia (who has had over a thousand and certainly sucks, though maybe they're propping up his value), while Jason Coats has had 29 PA in a month in a half? By the way, fun with small sample sizes... In his first stint: .091/.286/.136, 9 K in 29 PA. Now since his 2nd call-up in August: .286/.310/.500, 3 K in 29 PA. Neither of the Garcias should be here in 2017 anyway. Coats isn't a starter but looks like a good 4th OF for 2017, so why not get him some more playing time? Eaton plays some CF, Cabrera some DH, Avi sits a little more, and you can even give Coats a game or two in CF and see how he looks. He's a prospect. Not big time prospect, but a guy you actually want to know what you have with. Everyone knows what you have with Leury and Avi. Hilariously Ed Farmer said on the radio today that they are "showcasing" Leury to see if he can handle CF, and if he can, he can be our CF for 2017. :lol: :lol:
  12. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) If only someone warned you, you poor saps. I would say that entering rehab is the opposite of messing up again, but either way, yeah, wise not to pick him up.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 03:07 PM) What kind of league do you play in where you can get trades like these? Damn man, I'd take that in an instant. I'd take McCoy and Palmer. You're not even gonna play Palmer anyways. Brady's good to go for the rest of the year. I told him I would wait until Friday to accept the offer, so it wouldn't process for this week. He then saw my Hopkins/Elliot trade and decided he didn't want to "make my team even better" so he backed out of the deal. Maybe I should have just accepted the offer and dealt with playing Winston over Stafford. But I figured Stafford would torch the Bears, so I wanted to wait a week. Damn.
  14. Totally forgot I offered Hopkins for Elliot, but that guy just accepted today. So if I make that other deal, my RBs will be Elliot, McCoy, Gordon, and Murray. That's fine considering how bad my RB situation was after the draft. But now WR is turning in to my weakness
  15. Sox still have the 12th pick. Can technically still get the 11th pick if they lose the last 4 and Colorado wins the last 4. But far more realistic is that the Sox could actually end up with the 12th pick if the Sox win 2 more games than the Pirates do in these last 4 games. We are 1 game "ahead" of them for the 11th pick, but we own the tiebreaker, so the Pirates would need to finish with 1 less win. So that makes us technically 1.5 GA of the Pirates for the 12th spot. EDIT: Actually, the Marlins lost today. So the Sox are only 0.5 games up on the Marlins for the 12 pick because the Marlins hold the tie-breaker over the Sox. So the 13th pick is a real possibility, with the 14th pick being possible as well. Ugh.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Sep 29, 2016 -> 12:34 AM) Which is one day unless there is a tie for a spot, then there could be no days between. I didn't say it was done the "day" between, just between.
  17. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 05:59 PM) So you don't think those who are torn on say Porcello and Kluber (2 I feel are likely to win) won't look at how each performed in the post season to make a decision? Of course they would. Voting is done between the regular season and the postseason....
  18. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 07:55 PM) Isn't the voting done before the postseason begins? Yes.
  19. Ok, so just got offered this trade.... I trade... Matthew Stafford (I have Brady to replace him with) Isiah Crowell I get CJ Anderson or McCoy (my choice) Winston or Palmer (my choice) Should I do the trade? And for which of those players? I am leaning McCoy, because Anderson shares a bye week with Gordon, and I play a very tough opponent that week (Easy opponent during McCoys bye week), and also Winston because Palmer shares a bye week with Brady. So to avoid all that, I am thinking of going McCoy and Winston for Stafford and Crowell. Might try to ask for Bailey in exhange for Josh Brown, just to get a Cowboys player on my team.
  20. Sale still leads the AL in fWAR and pWAR.
  21. I'm only not going to rage about this if they decide to sell this offseason and 2017 becomes a punt-year anyway. Then it doesn't matter WHO the sacrificial lamb is.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 10:16 AM) Howard is likely to be a featured back for 2-3 weeks, always valuable in a pinch. Lost the claims on Howard and Pryor. Still sitting on that Murray for Landry trade. Also trying to work out a trade for Stafford and Hopkins for David Johnson, Diggs, and Howard. He doesn't seem willing to move Johnson for anyone though.
  23. Put in a claim on Jordan Howard, although taking any Bears offensive player seems kind of silly. Might be better than Crowell though.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc 49m49 minutes ago Source: Artemi Panarin seeking six-year deal worth $6-plus million per with #Blackhawks: Uggghhh
  25. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Sep 26, 2016 -> 12:14 PM) Len Bias overdosed on cocaine 2 days after being selected 2nd overall in the 1986 draft. In what sport? Basketball?
