31-year-old 2B who projects to be about a 2-2.5 WAR player. I don't think $12M a year is exactly a steal. All his value is essentially tied up in his ability to make contact. Not much power, below average defense, doesn't walk much. He's not that exciting.

What would you guys be comfortable paying for Gordon? I know he is going to want a 4th year. So I would be ok with 4 yrs/$76. That's $19M a year. He would need to be worth about 2.5-3 WAR per season. Steamer projects him at 3.5 WAR next year, and those are almost always conservative figures. He's been a 6 win player a few times, so to think he could have a 4-5 WAR season left in him may not be unreasonable.

Now I'm not one of those who denounces Episodes 1-3, I found entertainment value in them all, but I understand the idea of making a movie that was so much like the original 3 that people will assume it will be that way going forward. That being said, I don't think episode 8 will remake Empire, I think they will now branch off and make their own adventures and storylines now that they brought everyone back on track.

I've heard a theory of Rei being one of the kids that Luke was training along with Kylo, then Luke saved her from Kylo possibly killing all his "classmates" by having her exiled to Jakku and had her mind wiped. She began to have flashbacks of memories she didn't realize she had when she touched the lightsaber again, and the force "awakened" in her. So I'll go ahead and tie that theory in to mine about her being Han's daughter. I just refuse to believe they would be SO heavy-handed about her being Luke's daughter. HAS to be misdirection. I don't understand the outrage about Kylo taking off his mask at all, or taking it off too early. Who the f*** cares? The point was that he so desperately wants to be Vader, but he sucks at it and he can't hold his emotions in. He throws tantrums like he is an emotionally unstable brat. We weren't supposed to be fearful of him so much as we were supposed to recognize how flawed he was and how much of an identity crises he is going through. We saw it with his conversation with Han, we saw it when he questioned his true feelings towards being pulled to the light side, we saw it when Snoke embarrassed him by saying he needs more training. We saw it when the Storm troopers hilariously walked away when they saw him throwing another tantrum. He wasn't supposed to be a badass villain (yet).

Well, I booked my flight finally. Rates had gone up 30-40% since last week when I was looking. I had to wait on approval from work for the days off. After looking at a few sites and NEARLY going through a site that I eventually read reviews on and heard it was a scam (Flyfar.ca), I was about to settle on something around $160 or so for a roundtrip flight via Spirit and Frontier, or Frontier and United, or some combination. Then at the last second I thought to check American Express' website to see if cardholders got any nice perks. Turns out I could book a flight through them. Ended up with graveyard flights, but I wound up with $105 roundtrip, American Airlines both ways with window seats. I am pretty excited about this.

Not to poo-poo on this trade whatsoever, because I am extremely excited we got Frazier today, but the trade DID hurt us defensively in 2 different positions. The offensive boost is tremendous from Frazier over Saladino and Lawrie over Sanchez, but Saladino and Sanchez both do appear to be better defensive options. Basically my point is that this team better find a way to improve it's defense in other areas like SS and RF if it plans to be any better than they were last year on D. Obviously for the totality of 2015, our 2016 shapes up to be better, because 58 games were manned at 3B by Conor Gillaspie and his laughably bad -10 DRS in 69 games at 3B (last 11 with Angels), and Micah Johnson's poor defense for the first 5 or 6 weeks or whatever, but just purely from the 2nd half of last year to 2016, we will see a regression on infield defense.

It entirely depends on money. If we are talking something like 5 yrs/$110M on Upton, and 6 yrs/$160M on Cespedes, then go Upton. But if it's more like 5 yrs/$130M on Upton and 6 yrs/$150M on Cespedes, then go Cespedes. Cespedes is better, but will cost more. Upton is cheaper, but will cost a draft pick. It's a seriously tough choice, but I'm going Cespedes for his defense/speed AND huge power. Upton is not a good defender.
