  1. Wherss the Im drunk in 2o13 thread beacause Im drunk right now. Ohr man I killed it tonight in Kareoike. Sang/rapped the s*** out of Bad Touch by Bloodnhound gang. I looked out in to the crowd and saw wet panties everythwhere. One Night Stand strikes awagain.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 05:56 PM) I mean, at some point dont you want to be your own person? Maybe they will each spend their new $28M differently when they are not plowing each other's b-holes.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 02:17 AM) Brad Mills is the man. I was more impressed with how Mike Kostka looks exactly like Thor.
  4. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 08:30 PM) Meh. Nice boobs though. Her upper lip really, really bothers me. She looks hot when she smiles, but that permanent duckface her lips make isn't flattering.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 08:04 PM) But that stretch goes back to 2005, right? DeAza has gone from a 920 OPS (limited time at the end of 2011) to 759 to 728. His WAR has been on the decline, from 2.4 (only 152 at-bats) to 2.1 to -0.3. Basically, the last two seasons, he's been around a slightly below average CF offensively and below average defensively. Out of the 10 qualified AL CFer's in 2013, he would be ranked 8th, ahead of only L. Martin and Michael Bourne. If you expand to all of MLB, he's 12/17, ahead of Jay, Blanco and Denard Span. If you go back to 2012, he was 10th out of 19 in terms of OPS. We can keep saying he was one our of better players, but would the Cardinals say J. Jay was one of their better players? Or the Rangers, Leonys Martin? Martin had a +3.4 WAR value. In fact, all of the qualified 16 players in CF were in positive territory except for DeAza. He was actually 1.8 WAR points behind the 16th ranked player in Jon Jay. At least Viciedo had a positive number, even if it was only 0.1. I think the problem here is that you are using bWAR, when everyone else is using fWAR. Because De Aza had something like a 2.2 fWAR this year, not -0.3
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) The $100 mill is paid up front to the team, and it's just for the right to negotiate. If you don't sign him, you don't pay it. Also, a lot of times the two organizations will work out some kind of deal that is worth the posting fee. Right, I understand how posting works, but that still doesn't mean the team that signs him won't end up essentially paying out $25M a year for his services, regardless of how it's divvied up.
  7. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 08:12 AM) That's neat. You think of baseball as almost an easier game because of all the players quitting due to the violence in football, but it's just as hard, if not harder, on the body as a whole. Cardenas is definitely not the first guy to walk away. This piece reminds me of Grant Desme too. He was looking like a monster power prospect for the A's before he retired to become a priest. That's exactly who I thought this article was going to be about when I saw the thread.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 55m What will he cost? One exec suggested Masahiro Tanaka could fetch $100M in posting fee alone. Others: more like $75M. http://yhoo.it/1dyJIEq $100M plus the baseline 6 yrs/$60M that Darvish got, and we are talking about paying this dude over $25M a year. How insane.
  9. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) The responsible parties Isn't that amazing that once Chris Sale reaches Javy Vazquez's # of IP, he will likely have the same WAR that Javy did for us. Javy was kind of a victim of being born 5-6 years too early. If he was putting up that string of 4.9, 5.0, 4.9 WAR seasons with the Sox NOW instead of from 06-08, he would have been making a lot more money than he did. He was considerably valuable, despite his 6th inning meltdowns.
  10. Finally caught up on Masters of Sex. Not sure if I was 2 episodes behind, or if the internet just is 1 episode ahead, but man this show is great. I won't say what happened in the last episode, in case it hasn't aired yet, but 2 episodes ago, man that scene at the end with Virginia and Bill in his office was really powerful by Michael Sheen. Up until then he had seemed rather inhuman about the whole baby thing.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 02:16 PM) No, the post was just deleted. There's no need for those types of posts on the board. Ah. Fair enough.
  12. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 12:57 PM) Carlos Martinez and that's about as low as I go. I don't see them giving up Carlos Martinez for Alexei. Would be nice though.
  13. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 01:05 PM) Awww shucks I wanted to see what Andy said. He just said that he thinks this thread sucks, which apparently got him banned??
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 05:51 AM) ??? I hope you're being sarcastic, unless there's ANOTHER Angel Sanchez who plays on the Cuban National team. I am pretty sure he meant Aaron Sanchez.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) You can get suspended for that? How are Lincecum and Chris Perez still in the league? I'm pretty sure Lincecum has a medical marijuana license, if that changes anything in the eyes of the MLB.
  16. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 01:33 AM) I'm tired of reminding people that De Aza was one of our top 2 or 3 best position players last year. You can't say, "The Sox need to sign more than just Abreu" and then also say, "#1 priority should be getting rid of De Aza." Those two are mutually exclusive. If you want to win next year, then the #1 priority should be getting rid of Beckham, Keppinger, Flowers, Phegley, Viciedo, Gillaspie, or Dunn becuase every single one of those were demonstrably worse than De Aza last year. We had exactly 3 hitters who amassed more than a WAR of 1.0 last season. THREE f***ING HITTERS!!! One of those was Rios who isn't even here anymore. Just because he was one of the tallest midgets doesn't mean him a tall person.
  17. "Someone vandalized Banksy's art". You mean....they vandalized his vandalism.
  18. QUOTE (scs787 @ Nov 1, 2013 -> 12:30 AM) Why is it so hard to fathom? At least for the next couple years they are just an incredible team. They got about 2 great seasons left before they are old and expensive. That's when hopefully the division swings back in our favor for a few years.
  19. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 11:08 PM) Remember free agents don't necessarily have to be big ticket free agents. Guys like Brayan Pena and Dionner Navarro can be good short term gets since both are switch hitters coming off good years in limited roles at catcher instead of McCann or Saltalamacchia. I figured it was implied that if they were quiet it just meant they didn't go after any big name FAs, not to mean that wouldn't make any signings at all. I HOPE they make a few buy-low signings on 1-2 year deals to use as trade fodder if they can have a good half a season next year, but I am not hoping or expecting for any major splashes, unless Hahn can string together a few of them.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 11:00 PM) How would Santiago put up a sub 2 WAR if he actually improved next year? He was basically a starter for only 2/3 of the year and still finished with a 1.5 WAR. Give him 11 more starts next year instead of a bunch of relief appearances and he should easily get that extra 0.5 WAR if gets even a slight bit better. 140 innings this season. Assume next year he can do 180 innings, that should put him around a 1.9 WAR. So I guess MAYBE a 2.5 WAR if he improves some next year, that's still less than Arenado already put up last year at age 22.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 10:34 PM) I just don't see the Rockies doing that. Yes they need pitching, but he played really well and even won himself a gold glove. He's their third basemen of the future Yeah, I don't see them trading a 22-year-old 3B who put up a 2.7 WAR his rookie season for a 26 year old pitcher who may put up a sub-2 WAR next season if he improves. Not that they may not be interested in Santiago, but it would take Santiago + to get that done.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) I think people shat on you for disrupting a college class that a lot of people pay a lot of money for Except I never disrupted any class....sooo....
  23. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Oct 31, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) Acquiring Kendrick, Bourjos, and Ellsbury, would push this team further from a championship. Very little upside to those three. How is adding Jacoby Ellsbury, the 2011 MVP* and nearly 6 WAR player last year going to push this team further from a championship? How does he have little upside? That's just stupid.
  24. I would actually be completely content with this team not spending anything else on Free Agency this winter. We probably won't compete in 2014 unless we sign/trade for at least 2 or 3 more major pieces. I would like to see some trades however. Move Alexei, De Aza, Beckham, and a pitcher somewhere for some nearly ML ready prospects and then gear up for a strong run in 2015.
  25. That first deal is awful. That second deal isn't that bad, but I still wouldn't do it because Freese is a half-measure. No half-measures, Walter.
