  1. He is the perfect candidate to trade near the deadline for a couple of prospects like we did w/ Frasor. And Frasor brought back Myles Jaye if I recall correctly.
  2. The Marshall Mathers LP 2 was leaked today. Downloading now. A friend of mine heard it today and was not impressed.
  3. QUOTE (daggins @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 09:39 PM) Ubaldo Jimenez? I would do what the Cubs did and sign Ubaldo to a 2 year deal, or Scott Baker, or Scott Feldman, or Josh Johnson. Then trade these guys in the summer for a couple prospects.
  4. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) I loved high school. I loved college. I loved law school. I love now. Well I actually never liked school, but I did love all of the shenanigans school allowed me to get into. The worst part was I always knew Id be able to get away with more before I was 18, so most of my completely outrageous stories occurred before I was even in HS. I kind of live a college life to this day. The only difference is I show up to work every day. Back in college I never went, I didnt even wake up before 3pm. Yeah, despite everyone who went to my high school saying "High school sucks!!", I had a great time. My teachers loved me, I had a normal group of friends, was moderately popular (or as much as you can be in a HS of 3200+ students), scored solid grades, and was able to pretty much get away with a lot of s*** despite being the class clown and smart ass of most of my classes. You can generally get away with being a smart ass if you are charming enough and get good grades.
  5. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 06:23 PM) Speaking of HTC, a man was shot in the chest while his HTC Evo in his breastfeeding pocket. It stopped the bullet; the man didn't realize for a second that he'd been hit. HTC heard about it and sent him a One and some other goodies. No link as I am on mobile. EDIT: and by breastfeeding pocket, I mean breast. Autocorrected... Autocorrect wins, breastfeeding pocket is now forever what I shall call them.
  6. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 06:09 PM) Viciedo is 5 years younger than ADA, has much more upside, more team control, and is an absolute rocket scientist compared to ADA. While I'm not going to non-tender De Aza, if I have to give someone the short end of the stick it will be him. We want a long term winner? Give Viciedo as many chances to be a franchise cornerstone as possible. De Aza is so close to his expiration date that the biggest benefit he offers is depth or perhaps the return we get in trade. Yes, yes, and yes.
  7. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) I think you missed some sarcasm. I don't think so. Wite has been trumpeting in the past few pages how much he loves and wants Bourjos. I think he honestly thinks Bourjos is a better player than Parra in every part of the game.
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 08:19 AM) OK, now you're taking your obsession too far because literally anything Parra can do, Bourjos can do better. There's no point in watching the videos. LOL, such as.....??? Take more walks? Oh wait, Parra does that better. Strike out less?? Oh wait, Parra does that better. Hit for average? Oh wait, that's Parra too. Get on base? Nope, still Parra. How about play defense. Naaaah, Parra again. How about hit homeruns? Nope. How about hit doubles? Oh wait, no. Maybe he has a better throwing arm? Nope. How about hit triples? HEY THERE IT IS!! Steal bases? Yes! That's two! So yeah, Bourjos can do "LITERALLY" everything Parra can do, and better......except he can't. Oh wait, he does hit triples at a higher rate, and he's a better baserunner. Oh, and Bourjos is right handed, while Parra is a lefty, and we all know how this team is dying for right-handed hitters, so I guess ya got me there.
  9. I hope you all realize the entire last 4 pages or so happened because a few people decided to s*** on me for no reason for saying I thought the IR blaster in my phone was cool. Never said my phone invented the technology, never said it is the only phone to do it, and never said a damn thing about iPhones not being able to do it (which I had no idea if they could or couldn't, because I couldn't care less either way). Just said I thought it was cool. Basically what I've learned here is I need to be super jaded about technology and not be impressed by anything, because god forbid someone else has used this technology before me, I will be criticized for being out of date and easily impressed and thought of as a kid. Duly noted.
  10. And oh yeah, it's 3:30 am and I just finally did some homework, and I STILL have to find a story to cover for my live shot on the TV station for Thursday. I'm guessing something Halloween related, that seems like the obvious way to go.
  11. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 30, 2013 -> 01:01 AM) Lived on campus in a dorm for 2 years and I hated it. Couldn't stand all the immature people and also sharing a room with someone that I didn't really know. And was total opposite of how I was so we had nothing to talk about. I now live off campus in an apartment with my girlfriend and I like it a lot more. I spent 2 years in a dorm as well (1 year at each college), and I had some pretty awful luck with roommmates. My first roommate my freshman year was on the soccer team and eventually got kicked out of school for pot, which he kept in the room. Luckily I didn't get anything for that. I was solo for about a week before I let the kid down the hall move in with me. He was a quiet kid whom I knew wouldn't keep me up or bring any chicks back or be drunk. That worked out fine, but it was boring. Then I moved colleges and my roommate my sophomore year was a senior who I'm not sure was not a robot. Very weird kid who when I brought a friend over to watch a Sox game actually said when he came back in to the room and saw the both of us "Oh, I didn't know we were expecting to have visitors this evening". He was the closest person this world may ever have to Sheldon Cooper. We had 2 TVs in the room NEXT to each other. He had headphones with a long extension to reach his bed so he could watch Everybody Loves Raymond for hours on end while I watched sports and Comedy Central. I could go on for a while with all his quirks, but I need to get to bed. After maybe 3 weeks of dealing with that weirdo I moved next door with a guy named Neal who was easily the most fun roommate I had in the dorms, even though he was very messy, shed a ton, smoked pot and came back to the room drunk and sloppy all the time. I mean, I came back to the room drunk too, but this kid would come back with piss down his jeans and knock s*** over in the room and then leave all the lights on. He was a real real sloppy drunk. I then got asked by a couple girls from HS to live in an apartment with them, and I did, and it was by far the best living situation I've had. A real Threes Company scenario living with 2 beautiful girls. One of them I am really good friends with. The other one I am friends with, but we got on each other's nerves a lot because she is very bossy and controlling and "this has to be my way!" and I loved to go against. And now, since my girls have graduated in May, I am spending my last semester alone in a new apartment way off campus and I hate it. So boring not living with anyone, so boring not knowing any of the neighbors because they are all foreign or have kids, and so boring because I live a couple miles away from the bar scene and all my friends houses. Doesn't seem like a big deal for those who went to gigantic campuses like IU, but after living in an apartment IN the bar strip for 2 years, it's really hard not being able to walk down my stairs to the bars.
  12. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 11:59 PM) Technology is amazing? 30 year old IR games? LMAO This is the participation medal award of pranks. Yeah, and maps have existed pretty much since the dawn of civilization, so the fact that we have them in our phones is no major feat at all I guess. How do you not understand that having something exist, and having something exist inside of a cell phone are different things? I think it's stupid that this somehow is bothering a few of you, as if I had been proclaiming I invented this myself.
  13. Should we try and trade Mitchell for anything we can while he may have marginal value, or should we just hold him until spring training and see if he can fight Danks for a 4th OF spot? I guess either way it's not going to impact much.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) I imagine he's a significantly more difficult get and isn't going to be the kind of CF that Bourjos is - which would be fine if we weren't chock full of corner OF. Doesn't hit real well either Although the majority of his gold gloves were earned in RF, his sporadic time in CF have yielded very good results as well, just as good as Bourjos'. Plus....I'm not sure Bourjos can throw like this.... http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-160339569.html Or this... http://wapc.mlb.com/play/?content_id=15852977&topic_id=0 or make crazy stops like this... http://blogs.thescore.com/mlb/2013/06/11/v...parra-did-what/
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:31 PM) I will say that we are becoming remarkably right-handed, which is one issue with the main potentially-moved guys on the Angels Another reason why Parra is a better fit, although he also does not post great OBP numbers either.
  16. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:26 PM) Nope, not a huge fan of Bourjos either. He'd be an interesting buy low guy perhaps, but I don't want him if he's going to be a key piece back in a Quintana or Santiago trade. He's just not a good fit for us offensively. Ok, fair enough then.
  17. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:28 PM) <!--quoteo(post=2884230:date=Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:20 PM:name=chw42)-->QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) <!--quotec-->You can't do it to other TVs that isn't connected to whatever system you have in your house though. The IR blaster is a really cool thing to have. This reminds me of the All in the Family episode where the guy had the remote doorbell ringer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DRm9hTi5Nwc Oh man, we had one of those are Chili's. After about a week it was taken away because all the employees used it to f*** with everyone else. lol.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 08:02 PM) Seriously, this stunt amazed people? Easy crowd to impress since this was one of Steve Wozniak's original pranks in the early 80's, and we did it ourselves in the early 90s. TIL you're school is apparently decades behind what technology has been doing ... for decades. Jesus christ you are uppity. My school is actually one of the most state of the art in terms of video production, so can it, dickweed. I guess I didn't realize that for decades now cell phones had the ability to take over an IR frequency. You must have also pissed all over the first time you saw a phone have an level tool app, you know, since levels have been around for over 350 years.
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:52 PM) An old show with Colin Cowherd and Michelle Beadle on it. Too bad it's not on anymore. ??
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:00 PM) Seriously, you almost wonder if he wasn't hurt this year. Maybe he received some coaching down there that completely turned his game around. Who knows what the hell is going on I often wonder what he'd be like if he never got hurt in the first place. He was looking like a Carl Crawford clone before he shredded his ankle on that fateful play in ST.
  21. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 02:45 PM) If that's all he does, not a big deal, but IF he decides to be a dick, he can be. They thought it was awesome. I obviously didn't turn it off during a lecture, I'm not stupid. But before class started I turned it on, which freaked them and the students out. Then I explained it was my phone and the were amazed. My prof said I should go down the hallway turning projectors on and off scaring teachers. Technology is amazing.
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 06:34 PM) Not sure what the big draw is. His 2013 WAR looks like a clear outlier to me, driven by fluky defensive metrics. I've got to be honest, I'm not a fan of players whose value is tied that heavily to their defense. So then I assume you are not a fan of Bourjos either, whose value is tied in to his defense, had only 1 outlier good year, and appears that he was injured the past couple seasons (I'm just guessing based on his lack of games played). At least Parra's really good year was the most recent one, when he was 26 years old, the age where he should be coming in to his full potential. Parra is an amazing defender with probably one of the best OF arms I have ever seen, draws walks at a decent clip, doesn't strike out a ton, and has above average speed. The dude had 43 doubles last season. If he could learn to steal bases more efficiently, he could be a 4-5 WAR player for the next few years. As I've been clammoring for a while, I'd love to see a trade of Quintana + Carlos Sanchez for Parra, 3B Davidson, and C Stryker Trahan.
  23. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 29, 2013 -> 05:13 PM) Does he seem like a good clubhouse guy? Or does he have a Puig attitude? I think it was Puig or Chapman or someone who said that Abreu is a quiet and reserved player. Humble and doesn't get too high on himself. Hopefully that's true.
