  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 12:21 PM) Have Xbox 360 and no dice for my son. Has he tried doing "solo play"? I think that's the method most people are taking.
  2. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 2, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) I have a 360 and couldn't get past the race car queue at the very beginning. 8 of my friends were in the same boat. I don't think it worked for anyone last night. No, it did. And now it is starting to work for PS3 users as well.
  3. So the Government agent guy from The Blacklist is Mike from Homeland, and Dana's boyfriend Leo from Homeland is Zach Hamilton from Dexter. Got it.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 10:40 PM) Let's try closer to $18 million. Choo is a terrible fit for the Sox right now. He's a platoon player at this point and he's a poor defender anywhere he plays in the outfield. Ellsbury is a different story. He's a plus defender, has a well rounded skill set, and is entering his age 30 season. If you gave him 6/$120, he'd probably return surplus value for at least the first 4 years of the contract, and he has the skill set that will age well so it could legitimately be for all 6. If the Sox are willing and able to spend and get their guys - we'll say Ellsbury (6/$120), Abreu (7/$70), and McCann (4/$60), which is also $45 million added to the payroll, give or take how they set up the contracts - you can look at a lineup of Ellsbury - CF Semien - 2B Abreu - 1B McCann - C Dunn - DH Garcia - RF De Aza - LF Ramirez - SS Gillaspie - 3B That team at least gives a shot. That's not what I'd do, but it's an option and that team can absolutely be competitive. And then trade De Aza and a pitcher to San Diego for Arenado or Gyorko or Headley (obviously that would be determined by which pitcher we give up), and I would be very, VERY happy going in to 2014.
  5. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) What do you think of Arenado from the Rockies? That team annually needs pitching. Headley, Arenado, Gyorko, Cabrera. I would think they would motivated to move one of those 4 for pitching.
  6. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 10:25 PM) Wasn't able to watch. I appreciate all the in-game updates. Crazy exciting game.
  7. PP still needs much improvement. Kruger seemed lost on PK without his partner-in-crime, and Saadfather came up big. Crawford was huge at the end during that 5-on-3. Also, I can't remember the last time I saw a goal given on an empty netter.
  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 07:39 PM) Can anyone actually log into GTAV online? Most of the Xbox 360 users can, almost none of the PS3 users can.
  9. Watched the premiere of this season of Homeland. It was fantastic. Most of the scenes with Quinn were too predictable, but Quinn is such a badass.
  10. QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 10:10 PM) Yeah, prison break got so bad once *************** I quit watching. I'd definitely go with the shield. Way to ruin that for him.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 09:55 PM) That's OK. As a hitter player, that still sounds like Manny Machado. Machado was graded at an 80 speed? That's odd considering the most stolen bases he ever had in a season in the minors was 13.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 04:40 PM) I chose the one where I got to kill just about everyone who came at me. Not the smartest idea, but it was more fun. I think I got $31 million each. I probably had to kill somewhere between 40-50 Merryweather and FIB people underneath the highway where we parked the semi's that that held our 4 muscle cars loaded with gold.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 12:52 AM) I just finished the last big heist in GTA V. It was so hard to get away from the cops with 6 stars that I just used the wanted level cheat. I told myself I wouldn't use cheats...but I got fed up and used one. Seriously? Which method did you choose? I didn't have any wanted level when I did the plan with the 4 muscle cars. I ended up making $34M each, and now after playing some stock market, each of my characters ended up with just under $200M before I started buying every property.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 1, 2013 -> 12:57 AM) I missed the Blacklist this week. Anyone know where I can catch a rerun? Primewire.ag
  15. Get rid of De Aza. He serves no purpose on a team that is 2-3 years away from contention (without any significant upgrades). Keep Viciedo, he's got a couple years before we NEED to replace him. I'd give CF to Garcia in hopes he gets better over the offseason and in ST. If we can acquire a better CF, then that's fine too.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) How would you guys feel if the Sox got Salty,Abreu and Ellsbury. Possible? Too much money? I'd love to get Ellsbury and Abreu.
  17. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 11:30 PM) I don't pay much attention to detail obviously lol I didn't notice the sign the first time either, but I had just assumed he was back in NM or close.
  18. QUOTE (Knuckles @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 07:52 PM) Same here, maybe because you had this finale unwrapped for us weeks ago? Could be.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 05:04 PM) He did call from New Mexico?? How do you know that?? Maybe he did but doesn't seem plausible with everything going on he would make his on stevia package lol I just rewatched the scene. Not only is the landscape of the gas station very similar to New Mexico, and not only does he stretch and moan when he gets out of the car, as if he had been driving a while, but they show a wideshot of him on the phone and the sign says "Canoncito gas". That's the name of a town in New Mexico, 45 minutes outside of Albuquerque.
  20. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 02:47 PM) Productive is a far better word to use. All the same, I'd rather go into the year with 81-83 win team talent wise than 73-75 win. Baseball has so much variability that you can get hot at end up winning 90 games and earning a playoff birth, like the Indians did this year. I won't say they were lucky, and I won't say their team isn't good, but that team didn't look good coming into the year and they had some guys step up and have really big years for them, including Ubaldo and Salazar. That's why it's nice to have even average talent - you can upgrade your team either with trades or through your minor league system and something might click and then you end up winning a lot of games. If the Sox had a little more depth down the stretch last year, they probably would have won the division, but without trading for Youkilis, Liriano, and Myers, I doubt that team even ends up above .500. And productive is the exact word I used in my original comment... QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 29, 2013 -> 04:45 PM) The worst thing you can be in professional sports is average. For that reason, I believe this was a very productive season for the White Sox. I give us an A- grade for this season. Well done. And I too would rather have an 81-83 win team talent wise GOING IN TO THE YEAR than a 73-75 win team talent wise. My philosophy about wanting 1) a good team then 2) a bad team then 3) an average team is referring to the result at the end of the season. You never want to END UP with an average season. You can surely go in to the year being average, experience luck, a trade, injuries to opponents, rookies being called up, career years, whatever, and become a contender like the 2012 White Sox, but I am saying by the end of October, the worst thing you could have had was an average season.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 04:15 PM) Opening night hawks according to Jay Zawaski Here's a look at the forward lines from this morning's practice : Bryan Bickell - Jonathan Toews - Patrick Kane Patrick Sharp - Michael Handzus - Marian Hossa Brandon Saad - Andrew Shaw - Jimmy Hayes Brandon Bollig - Marcus Kruger - Joakim Nordstrom The defensive pairings will look something like this : Brent Seabrook - Duncan Keith Niklas Hjalmarsson - Johnny Oduya Nick Leddy - Michal Rozsival Goalies : Corey Crawford Nikolai Khabibulin Bench : Ben Smith, Mike Kostka and Sheldon Brookbank So Pirri isn't even making the roster? Stupid fantasy hockey guides telling my Pirri was likely to nab the 2nd-line center job.
  22. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 04:21 PM) Couple things that didn't make sense in the final: How did Walt get back to New Mexico from New Hampshire so damn quick to be there when the Grey Matter people got home when the lady on the phone said they would be back that night. Didn't make sense. Also how did he get ricin in the packet for Lidia?? You can't reseal that packet and it isn't where she always sits. Last time she met Todd she sat by the window I though. This time was different?? What does everyone think? Do we know what state he made that phone call in? I honestly don't remember, so it's possible he called from New Mexico. I too considered how he got the ricin in the packet at well, but figured maybe he made a small hole in the side of it and filled it that way. It's not impossible, it would just take a lot of careful filling. And as far as I could tell, that's where she always sat, but I didn't go back and look.
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 30, 2013 -> 01:33 PM) Then define it. To me, 81-81 is average. The Sox won 85 games last year. I don't understand how 85 wins and a second place finish is really that much different than that. Then again, I fail to see how a 63-99 season can be classified as "good" on any level. As I said, I think a season like this was necessary so the Sox can ultimately get a more accurate feel for the team - this team overall wasn't that much different than the 85 win team from a year ago, but it seems to me that team "overachieved" and this team "underachieved" and that their true talent level was probably in the 74-78 win range (before the Peavy and Rios trades, as the true talent then probably dropped down to 68-72 wins). Necessary does not mean good though. It's obviously going to be on a case-by-case basis. There is no magic number that applies to every team, because they all will have different expectations based on the team and the context of the season, but GENERALLY I would say any team that contends for a playoff spot for most the year, especially towards the end of the season would be considered to have a good year. The 2012 White Sox had a good year. The 2013 White Sox had a terrible year, but a productive one in the end. You never want to be somewhere in the middle.
  24. Erik Johnson, Semien, Micah Johnson. Those are the 3 I do not want to see traded at all (of course everything depends on who we'd get back). Of those that I LIKE, and would PREFER not to be traded, Chris Bassit and Chris Beck. Of those who have value that I WOULD like to see traded.... Carlos Sanchez.
