QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 03:32 PM) Yeah, you're only a creeper if they aren't interested. If they are interested, you can be almost as much of a creep as is humanly possible and they will overlook it. Heh, and that's what I hate with people of these generations. It's not movies where people think it's cute to like somehow, even if they don't like you back. Now it's either they are interested, or they are now creeped out by you. It's pretty much why I keep my interest in someone to myself until I can figure out if they have any interest back or not. I don't fear rejection so much as I fear making someone uncomfortable or freaked out.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 03:16 PM) The per year amount is reasonable on the open market (25m). The years are just insane (7). If you are in to WAR, and market value per win, then you will see that Hamilton has been worth 22.4 WAR in the 5 seasons with the Rangers and has been worth $96.4 M over that time. That's a touch over $19M per year he has been worth. Given that he will turn 32 years old 6 weeks after the season starts, you would be paying him through his declining years. Do you really expect him to turn in another 5 years of EVEN BETTER production that the last 5 during seasons age 32, 33, 34, 35, and 36? I don't, and that's on just a 5 year deal. That's why I say a MAX of 4 years and $75M would be as high as I'd willing to go. That's $18.75 AAV, or slightly less than what he's been worth so far during his prime years. I think that is fair enough in itself. -
Welp, just put myself out there and sent a message to a girl I met while I was dressed up in my one-night-stand costume Saturday. Maybe I think too much, but I always worry about coming off as being a creeper by messaging a girl. I guess it's because I live with 2 girls, and they seem to judge any guy that is interested in them as a "creeper" (unless they are like, so totally hot, of course) and I am worried that all girls think like that, but f*** it. I figure I have never seen this girl before (that I know of), and I probably won't ever see her again if she isn't interested, so may as well give it a shot.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 02:07 PM) I'd certainly love to have Hamilton. If they trade Rios , Floyd, and don't resign AJ wouldn't that be around the 25 mill Hamilton wants? Lets say they trade Rios for some good prospects that they can package with some of our guys for Chase Headley. Trade Floyd for a C. Could you imagine the lineup??? De Aza Ramirez Hamilton PK Headley Dunn Tank Flowers/? Beckham Do not want Hamilton at $25M, and ESPECIALLY do not want Hamilton at 7 yrs. I don't even know why we are discussing this as a possibility, but the highest I'd go on Josh would be 4 yrs/$75M, and he'd never go for that. -

QUOTE (CyAcosta41 @ Nov 5, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) Great article, wasn't it? He's a totally different pitcher. Maybe it's just me, but it's difficult to read that article and not root for the guy, and not want him as one of your own (especially when he originally was). And, neither here nor there, but his wife Amanda is a complete babe. But not Central Casting Bimbo Baseball Wife, she's a real looker who's also smart, witty, and (seemingly) pretty grounded. And obviously knows how to take a joke, since Brandon likes to rip on her (literally, he says he farts on her pillows after their fight). -
Oh man, Homeland. Starting to bring back that whole "Is he on our side or theirs?" thing with Brody again.

Ok, I found an article that helped me out. So I was right in the sense that this type of qualifying offer is brand new this year, hence why I had never heard of it before. I knew the Elias rankings and Type classes were being dropped, but I hadn't looked in to how they were being replaced. I get it now. For anyone else confused, check this out, it summed it up pretty well. http://stlouis.sbnation.com/cardinals-rumo...ree-agency-2013 Only other question is, can you make qualifying offers to ANY of your free agent players? Sox made no qualifying offers, but I would guess Pierzynski would have been a tough call. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 2, 2012 -> 06:50 PM) Not sure why you haven't heard of it, it's been going on for a long time. It used to be for the draft pick, but that has been changed somewhat with the recent CBA I just don't understand how they came up with $13.3M for every player as a "qualifying offer". Is this replacing when Type A and Type B players had to be offered arbitration, since they eliminated Elias rankings? -
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 08:31 PM) Been using it for a while -- with a touchscreen, it's a great OS. Without it, it's really not. It works, and it does everything it's supposed to do, but just not as intuitive with a mouse/keyboard as the old start bar was. It's not meant for a desktop that doesn't have touch. For the short term, this is a bad idea...but long term, which I have to believe is Microsofts vision, ALL screens will eventually be touchscreen, and when that happens, this will work very well. It will have short term growing pains, however, as it does NOT work the same, and I often find it infuriating to do what should be simple things. Again, if the monitor was touch based, it would be simple. But with a mouse, it's not the same. But tell me how it is as just a touchscreen, then tell me how it is with a mouse, then just touchscreen, then with a mouse and keyboard.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 11:31 PM) So what you are saying here is, Collinsworths microcosm observation of Demarcus Ware is right? I didn't say what he had said was wrong, I just said I hate how he tries to make a microcosm out of everything he sees. He could have said "You see, that guy in the 19th row of Section C, lowerbowl just paid for $8 for a beer, and then spilled half of it on his leg. That's a snapshot of the Dallas season, spending all that money just to end up throwing half of it away and coming up looking like an idiot. I guess you could say the glass is half empty, huh Al? HAR HAR HAR HAR", and he wouldn't be wrong either, just annoying how he thinks he is being so clever and poetic when he sees things like that. -

Cool. Glad you kept your fumble statistic in tact, rather than try and get your team the win, Felix Jones. Nice job taking your 39 yd reception home with you. -

Down by 6 pts, like 15 seconds left to score a TD with no timeouts........ Can't wait to see Tony lob up a hail mary, it get picked off, and then people blame Romo for throwing an INT and the team losing.... -

This team absolutely f***ing sucks at tackling. So many extra yards/first downs allowed because they can't make a f***ing stop. Hate this team right now. -

Awesome job by Romo directing Ogletree back to the middle of the endzone and fired a perfect strike for the TD. -

As much as I love Witten, it's hard to remember the last time he made more than a 2 catches in a row without his back to the defense. He is reliable as f***, but he never sets himself up for YPC with his "catch and lean in to defender" style. -

Also, Collinsworth looks for every chance to find a specific play that serves as a microcosm for a team's season or game performance. DeMarcus Ware just missed an open field tackle that led to a 1st down and CC says "That play right there is the story of the season for the Cowboys, just can't make the big play when they need it." -
So what type of 3rd baseman do we need?
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to balfanman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We should find out what the Padres are going to do at 3B in the future. Stick with Chase Headly, or hand it over to Jedd Gyorko. Sox should try to pry either of the two of them. They are both major league 3Bmen. -

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 09:14 PM) IMO it'd be a wise move since 3B is so thin in FA. Add to the rotation and sell off the excess for a 3B. Right. That's exactly what I've been hoping for. 3B FA market sucks. Only upgrade is going to be through trades, and a lot of teams could use a Gavin Floyd. Maybe even do something a little crazy and see if you can somehow get 3B Jedd Gyorko from the Padres for Floyd + Morel. But I bet the Padres would rather trade Chase Headly and go younger/cheaper with the 24-year-old Gyorko who hit .311 with 30 HR and 100 RBI in AA and AAA last year. -
QUOTE (Carter224 @ Nov 4, 2012 -> 09:34 PM) So last night in a hotel at 1 am I was flipping through the channels and came to HBO, and Hall Pass had just started.. I saw previews for it months ago when it was coming out and thought it looked terrible, but it was actually pretty funny. Yeah, it was a pretty decent comedy.
