7/23 games
Walker went 2/4 with 3 RBI, BB, 3 SB. He also stole another base, but it was credited as "defensive indifference" so he didn't get the credit for it. He has 45 SB to 11 CS this year. Batting around .285 between Low-A and High-A with a nearly .400 OBP. I'd have to say his stock has risen this season. Trayce went 2/3 with 2 BB, SB, 0 K. Batting .236 now. Hitting about .260 in July. Not bad, but still needs to get that AVG way up. Terrance Marin still dominant. 46 K to 7 BB in 42 IP in High-A. ERA under 1.70 on the year now.

SOX S.O.S.: MUST STOP THE LOSING STREAK
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 08:08 PM) Looks like the Captain is back Pump the brakes. Let's get a week's worth of solid production (although he has actually looked good the past 4-5 games)

SOX S.O.S.: MUST STOP THE LOSING STREAK
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 08:07 PM) So much for questioning Dunn in the line-up tonight. Two very well hit balls tonight against a lefty. Slider that was up and elevated in the zone. 414 feet. To be honest, that first AB for Dunn was not a "very well hit ball". It was a little floater off the end of his bat.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 05:36 PM) Total pipedream, but just imagine if the White Sox could land Felix Hernandez somehow? It'd be like when we got Peavy, but even better. It would be way better, because Felix isn't having surgery right now. I am actually silently hoping for Kenny to buy-low on Josh Johnson.

2012 MLB Catch All thread
My god, lots of moves happening today. Tigers get Anibal Sanchez and Infante, and then the Yankees get Ichiro. Dodgers may be getting Garza, and Braves may get Dempster. You'd think the trade deadline was tonight or something.

2012 Cubs thread
Yeah, Braves were apparenly #2 on his wish list after the Dodgers. Maybe he veto's this and asks them to work some more on a Dodgers deal, if they can't he will accept the Braves deal at the deadline.

2012 Cubs thread
Too bad this trade may not happen though. I don't want Dempster in Detroit.

QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 03:01 PM) dempster is having a nice season but agreed, hes not an ace. verlander, felix, cain, weaver, those are aces. I'm talking about this season, which is all that matters to the Braves.

2012 Cubs thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 02:37 PM) How can you disagree with any of it? Vizcaino, who is a reliever for them, is coming off TJ, as is Beachy. Those are facts. Mike Minor is GOD AWFUL. Look at his numbers, then watch him throw 90 mph fastballs straight as an arrow. Teheran, however, will be a stud. After being a starter all through the minors, the Braves have no plan to stretch Vizcaino back in to a starter? If you say so, I honestly don't know, but I don't see why they wouldn't. Beachy (and Viz) having TJS doesn't mean a whole lot. There is a lot of precedent for players doing great things after TJS. Ask that dude in Washington's rotation how he is doing. Mike Minor is certainly not god awful, not even GOD AWFUL, with all caps. His stock has fallen, but he could still very well be a #3-#4 type guy. Hell, his real problems right now is the HR ball, something he never had a problem with in the minors. He isn't a lost cause. I would love to have Minor in our system. So yeah, I disagree.

2012 Cubs thread
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 02:31 PM) Vizcaino and Beachy are both coming off Tommy John. Minor is awful. And Gilmartin isn't considered a top prospect. And no, Dempster is NOT an ace. LOL. Well then agree to disagree on ALL of that then. And I didn't say Gilmartin was a top prospect (even though he is like their #3 guy now), but that doesn't mean he doesn't figure in to their future rotation.

What should the Sox do with Morel?
Yeah, I really wouldn't mind him going back to AAA to work on hitting some more. Let him reclaim his job next season when Youk is gone.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 23, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) Awful trade by the Braves. No, not an awful trade for them. Braves are FLUSH with young pitchers. They get a legitimate ace this season (albiet for only 2+ months) for "one of" their top pitching prospects. They still have Minor, Teheran, Vizciano, Beachy, and even Gilmartin. Braves are still set up to be a pitching powerhouse.
-
2012 Cubs thread
Yeah, that's a really nice move for the Cubs. Dempster was useless to them, and they could quite easily get him back in a few months. Delgado's stock has fallen a little, but he is still a sexy arm.

Veal sent to AAA to make room for Gavin
Why not send down Septimo or Ommogrosso, or someone who didn't look really solid like Veal did?

GT: Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 22, 2012 -> 01:46 PM) Rios has been playing great all year, not sure what he's done to deserve to be amnestied... Because I have no faith he is going to continue to be an all-star for the duration of his contract. You guys get so high and low on players so quickly. Completely knee-jerk around here. Ask that same question 6 weeks ago and no one would be saying Dunn. Dunn will get better, Rios will get worse. That's just how it's going to happen. And in the end, I think Dunn will be more valuable to us hitting 40 bombs a year than Rios when he normalizes.
