  1. Youkilis is going to have a big game, and you can count on that, Jack.
  2. Snodgress picking up where he left off in Low-A. Guy is dominating right now with 7 K to 1 BB and 3 hits through 5 IP.
  3. I think this is being blown out of proportion. AJ said he can catch fine, he just can't swing right now. I bet he is back before this weekend.
  4. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 05:25 PM) Unless I'm mistaken, the option (and the related buyout) aren't even in play unless he finishes X number of games. And barring some sort of significant injury or Reed going straight to crap, Myers isn't going to get enough opportunities to trigger the option. Thus, the Sox aren't on the hook for anything. No, i think the choice will be there UNLESS he finishes something like 45 games this year. If he does, it AUTOMATICALLY vests. If he falls short, we can either choose the option or the buyout. EDIT: Yup. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/compensa...ots/?page_id=84 "2013 option guaranteed based on 2012 games started (re-worked 2/12 to vest with 45 games finished in 2012, reflecting change to closer’s role)"
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 04:08 PM) So my question is, if we trade Walker and Mitchell is anyone going to miss these players? They're far from sure things to even make the Majors at all. I'm actually starting to like Walker more than Mitchell. I think Mitchell has a better skillset, but he can't seem to put it together. I'd be 100% ok with 1 of them being gone for sure, but I don't want them both to be traded.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) But so are the chances of any prospect becoming an all star caliber player, even after showing immediate success in the big leagues. That is part of the difficulty of dealing with prospects. But it is a risk you've got to take if you want good, cost-controlled young talent. I'd take my chances with a top pitching prospect having a better career than Quintana.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) Interestingly enough, I never even knew the "Report" button existed. Heh. Apparently it doesn't even work. But an admin has PM'd me, so the situation will hopefully be taken care of.
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 03:28 PM) No, thus the reason not to trade him. You dispute the results he is getting right now...hard to argue with that. But what you said you think he can do, is very similar to what Mark did. Which was the comparison I made in the first place. Let me ask you this: if there was actually going to be another pitcher like Mark, do you think you would be able to immediately recognize him as that, or do you think it would take a few years for skeptics to be convinced? The nature of the beast is that you're always going to have questions about a young guy who resembles Buehrle in terms of stuff and style. The chances of Quintana becoming another Mark Buehrle are heavily stacked against it. If there is a team out there who thinks Quintana is as good as he has been so far, then by all means, let them give us a package. It all just depends on how others view him, and if I am Kenny, I am gauging the market for him RIGHT NOW.
  9. Chuck Garfien ‏@ChuckGarfien Another 37-thousand fans expected at White Sox game tonight. I don't see how that's possible, but I hope he's right.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 03:08 PM) Yeah, like Mark. Yeah, because Mark Buehrle's grow on trees.....?
  11. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) Oh, now I get the "reported" part. He could have done a lot worse! Anyway, yeah, it'd be a lot easier to move along if the Blackhawks, you know, DID SOMETHING! Yeah, it's been quite the boring offseason. Watching all these stars choose other teams. The excitement from 2 or 3 weeks ago has dropped off significantly.
  12. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) I would die for a sub-4 ERA out of our #4. I omitted the word "can".
  13. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 02:29 PM) Hey wasn't stirring anything up. That was valid news about a star player on the Blackhawks that was extremely relevant to a topic hotly discussed here. Just because it proves people right that aren't you, that doesn't mean he's doing anything wrong. Kane isn't reaching his potential, and he's a drunken boob half the time. That's that. Yeah, and he included my name at the end. Only reason to do that is to try and mock me and bait me in to a fight. It's alright, I reported both of his posts. Hopefully the mods here take care of it and he can finally move on.
  14. Yeah, he has been traded to the Indians for Jose De La Torre.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 02:10 PM) Yeah, I don't get why you don't like him at all...he's so much resembles Mark it is incredible. I just don't trust that this guy all the sudden flicked a switch and became a dominant pitcher. I don't think he will be trash, but I see him as a future #4 starter. A guy who can put up a sub-4 ERA, not a guy who has a 2.30 ERA. I hope he is good, I really do, I just don't see this lasting.
  16. If the Brewers want Quintana as the centerpiece of a deal, I'll drive him to Milwaukee myself. That guy isn't going to last. His value can only go down from here.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) It is in the article. Ok, I see it now. Skimmed over it the first couple times I suppose.
  18. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 01:22 PM) That doesn't mean our media is the 7th smallest in the nation. No, but we aren't a terribly popular team in this city. Yeah, Chicago is a media market, but we are the second team in this market. I can't imagine people feel playing for the White Sox is somehow a big stage.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 01:23 PM) Did anyone see video of Albert Almora's first HR in what I believe was his 1st pro game? He absolutely crushed it. Sounded like a gun going off, and although it's hard to tell, it looks like the ball may have cleared the scoreboard. Well over 400 feet. Well, either way, here's the video...... Turns out it was his 1st pro AT-BAT as well.

  21. Also, what's with the title "Sox eager to move Floyd". Where do you see that?
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 01:19 PM) You gotta wonder how Greinke will perform in a big market like Chicago. We are like bottom 7 in attendance. I don't think it's going to be a problem.
  23. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 24, 2012 -> 08:05 AM) Come on, bud. I know you aren't too good to admit you were wrong. He's just trying to stir up an argument and bait me. I ignore him, he should learn to ignore me. Reported.
