QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 21, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) Oh look, Steve Jobs kind of an ass. He vowed to "destroy" Android for being stolen. http://www.ign.com/articles/2011/10/21/ste...destroy-android I also read an article today with quotes of Steve Jobs bashing Bill Gates saying he never invented anything and he just stole ideas from people. Basically he said he was a fraud. I never really had anything against Steve Jobs, but these things are making him look like a real tool.

2011-2012 Bowling Season

646 is the best series I have ever had. Yet to break the 650 mark. Damn. -
Saw Fight Club last night for the first time. We never finished the movie, but I was not a fan. It was weird and kind of confusing. I already know the twist ending (dumb girls), which just made it even more weird to watch because if he has two personalities, then how are people interacting with both characters are once? It would have made more sense for the rest of the people in the movie to only acknowledge one person at a time. Maybe it was just because I was expecting a movie just about people who started a street fighting club and beat ass all movie and not some twist ending movie about a guy w/ split personalities. I dunno, I just wasn't impressed by a movie that people my age cream themselves over.

Rooting for Rangers here, since they were my prediction to win it all before the season started. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 12:42 PM) And you managed to construe my post to mean that because I thought Siri would be a vert significant and material improvement to cell phone experiences, especially with the new hands-free laws, that I was stating that Apple invented all voice-activation technology. What? I specifically put "not you" in the sentence because it's obvious that you know better, but I am sure a lot of people don't, and will file it under yet another Apple invention that changed the world to go along with MP3s, touchscreen devices, and anything else they can make up.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 11:10 AM) Anyone else notice our old friend Brian Campbell has racked up 7 assists in 5 games so for with Florida? I remember rumors of him being an exceptionally talented offensive defenseman, but he seemed to not play to his talents with us due to injury and better players around him, I guess. Ohh....I have noticed. Fantasy points. But to be fair, 4 of those 7 assists came in 1 game. So that's 3 assists in his other 4 games. Still good, but not as shocking.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 19, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) Well, what kind of phone and what is the software you're brothers friends neighbors sisters little cousins dog is using that's amazing and awesome? I'm sure others here would like to use it if it works that well and is available on their platform, but you're being vague and telling us Apple/Siri is meh, because this technology is old with no details. Lol, so somehow you have turned "my brother" in to "my brother's friend's neighbor's sister's little cousin's dog"? Is one relation too much for you to follow? And you have also managed to construe my post in to saying that I think Apple/Siri is "meh" and old technology, when in fact I made no comments about it whatsoever, other than to point out that voice-activated software on phones is not "another" brand new thing that Apple has amazingly pioneered before anyone else. It existed before Apple started using it, although most people (not you) will be led to believe otherwise.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 06:24 PM) This implementation of Siri (or voice control, period) is by far the best thing I've seen, and it's accuracy is amazing in comparison to anything I've ever used or seen demonstrated to date. Do note, that Siri was a company/technology bought by Apple, and then implemented directly into iOS, so it's not just some various program running in the background, but deeply entwined into the OS itself. They've had an app out for a while, but it wasn't anything close to this. A lot of voice control software has let you say things to set alarms, load programs, play songs, and that sort of thing, but they don't work well under most circumstances. Every time I've seen someone try to "show off" their ultra cool voice recognition technology, they've had to do it under perfect circumstances, with little to no background noise, etc. Then, it gets funny watching them issue commands it doesn't understand 10 times, or it fails to do what they requested, and then they say, "well it was working perfectly for me earlier". Like, "Call Jeff...", and it says, "Calling Julie". Or, even better, when it says, did you mean, "George Mokrisky", which sounds nothing remotely close to "Jeff". So yes, there is other voice recognition tech out there, but it all pretty much sucked in real world use. Ok, well yeah, the one on my brothers phone is pretty dope. It's the best voice controlled implementation I've ever seen. It's pretty amazing.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 18, 2011 -> 04:26 PM) I haven't seen anyone implement it quite like this. I don't know if my brothers phone has the thing where you can hold a conversation w/ the phone, but he can ask it questions, say "Text Joe: What time is the game tonight?" and tell it other commands like to set alarms, play certain songs, and all that kind of stuff.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread

So the Raiders traded the rest of their 2012 draft before they even saw what they had in Pryor? -
QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 11:37 AM) I really want this Siri thing, especially now that they're passing all the hands-free cell phone laws for drivers. I really didn't see this coming...didn't think there would be anything that could make me want to pick up the new iPhone, but this is truly a feature that sets it apart. From.....what the old iphones? Because other phones already use their own version of "Siri". It's not anything new that Apple is doing.

Is this really only sold in Illinois? Maybe my dad can find me one when he drives to work in Chi-town.

I am (pending I get in) taking a baseball spring training course this spring. For spring break, we are going to AZ or FLA to report or the games. I am so excited.

I did happen to catch when Carcillo faked being hit in the face to draw a penalty. That guy is such a douchebag, I'm not looking forward to more things like that to come.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 10:10 AM) Yeah. I hate this thread right now. I'm mid-way through Season 3. You are in for a real treat then. The second half of S3 is even more epic than the first half.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 01:44 AM) So what you're saying is that I, or anyone else for that matter, can make an argument based on a certain premise, i.e., if A happens then B will result, and regardless of whether A actually ever happens, as long as B results, I am therefore correct? Do you understand how ridiculous and illogical that is? I never said "If A, then B". I just said "B will happen", and then "B did happen". Doesn't matter what A was like, or how to got to B, but if B was the only thing I said, and it happens, then the mode in which it got there is irrelevant. Again, if I make the prediction of saying "Walt Jr. will be addicted to meth", does it even matter that at this point he doesn't even do meth, let alone currently have the possibility of being addicted to it if he has never tried it? No. All it means is that I think he will get addicted to it. Whether he gets addicted by force, because he wants to be, or for any other reason, if the result is the same, then my prediction would be correct.
-
And yeah, I was the opposite of correct. Gus never, at any time, had any plans to kill Hector. He brought in a big syringe of medicine, right? Because that's what you are suggesting if you say I was the opposite of correct.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 01:17 AM) Wow. Stop backtracking. Hector dying and taking Gus with him is absolutely the best possible scenario for him. How that means he "got his", I will never understand. You were the opposite of correct. Lol, best possible scernario? Why are we talking about what was best for Hector in that situation? How did that get in to this conversation? Will this ever end?

Can't wait to watch my first game of the season on Saturday.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 14, 2011 -> 12:11 AM) You said Hector would "get his" in terms of having killed Gus's friend. Gus only decided to kill Hector because he thought Hector was ratting him out. Was he killing Hector to get his revenge for the murder of his buddy yay those many years ago? No. Was he killing Hector to protect himself in the event he be called to testify and/or in the event that Hector was a threat to his well-being? Yes. Your "prediction" could not have been more wrong, could still not be more wrong, and it continues to baffle me that you argue and quote yourself like that matters. Oh so now you have turned "get his" to mean that I specifically meant be killed because he killed Gus' partner years ago, and not just "be killed". Might as well change "get his" to "get his big bowl of applesauce" while you are at it since you are trying to tell me what I really meant by it. I never said "for revenge", even later when it was asked what I meant by "get his" i said, "be killed by Gus", not "Gus would GET HIS revenge" or anything of that nature. Simple prediction. But seriously. This must be a joke by now. I mean, this is some Grade-A trolling, and I applaud you for it, you really had me going for a while.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) It couldn't be more OBVIOUS that Gus would never have killed Hector, if not for Walt intervening. That was the entire point of the elaborate setup. Walt even said 'What am I supposed to do, hide out at the old folk's home for 6 months and wait for Gus to pay him a visit'? Sigh..... QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 05:21 PM) Prior to Gus dying, aka, the bomb going off, did Gus have ANY plans to kill Hector? And I don't want to hear 'Blah blah blah not until Walt conjured a plan with Hector to have him go to the DEA". Yes, I understand the plot. But the answer is YES, Gus DID plan to kill Hector. It DOES NOT MATTER at what point in time in the story he decided to do, the answer is still the same. And THAT is what I had predicted earlier, that Gus would have plans to kill Hector (and he OBVIOUSLY tried to). I could also make a prediction that Walt Jr. becomes a meth addict in the next season. Just because nothing has set the actions in motion for that to happen, and just because Walt Jr. has never tried it before, or come in contact with it before does make mean if it happens my predictions is any less valid. Did Gus have any plans to kill Hector when I made the prediction? Maybe not. But that's irrelevant, because in the end HE DID HAVE THOSE PLANS. So therefor, I was correct. Now why are we continuing to go in circles over this again? I'm sure everyone else is just as tired of reading this stupid conversation as I am at this point.
-
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 13, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) Gus was more than content to let Hector die with his thoughts as long as it took. Then Walt set the bait, initiating Gus's intent to kill. It's not rocket science, yo. There's no one in this thread who thinks you were right but yourself... doesn't that say something? I'm not sure why you even jumped in and resurrected this in the first place. But since we are going for another lap..... Answer this question.... Prior to Gus dying, aka, the bomb going off, did Gus have ANY plans to kill Hector? And I don't want to hear 'Blah blah blah not until Walt conjured a plan with Hector to have him go to the DEA".
