  1. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:37 PM) Whatever you say. There was no cliffhanger. Lol, alright buddy.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:53 PM) Orange huh? Yeah, looked more pink/salmon to me
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) So Martinez is officially this season's backup quarterback guy. The guy every fan has to have, for no real reason except Sox fans like the fact he's a Sabes guy. The Rays, who play in the biggest, baddest division in baseball, just got blown away by the Rangers. I have nothing against the guy, but anybody who thinks he is a savior, just tell me why. In my mind, he's no different from Alomar. If Martinez truly is going to receive a lot of offers, I bet the only way the Sox get him is with a 4 year contract. Sox are a team going downhill unless KW reworks the roster fast. No way in hell he'd choose Chicago over Boston if all these teams truly want him. My guess is it's Alomar in a runaway in a cost effective move as the team tries to rebuild. Well, managers are all the same anyway, so it doesn't matter who we get, right?
  4. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 04:34 PM) That's just a problem with the average American. They have to be punched in the face to see anything. It was blatantly obvious that he killed Gale. A lot of people seemed to be confused because of the camera movement. And it was still a cliff hanger. Jesse is standing there with a smoking gun and a dead body, Walt is being held hostage. That's a cliffhanger ending in my book.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 08:33 AM) Beane didn't bring in most of those guys. That doesn't mean they werent' on the team. The stadium wouldn't hang banners of only the superstars that Beane brought in and neglect the other ones. Plus, Beane took over in 1998, which means he drafted Zito and Mulder. And Giambi was not a Beane guy either.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 09:33 AM) I watched Breaking Bad last night. It was definitely solid... the continual wait for s*** to go down is really, really building the suspense. I'm hoping Gus left to go back because he realized something was off with Jessie, vs having some sort of Spidey-Sense about Walt being ready to toast him in his car. I'd like to say, one more time, for those of you who have Showtime or have Comcast (Comcast is currently offering 3 free months on all movie channels if you call in and speak to a rep), you really have to watch 'Homeland'. It was like a slightly slower, slightly more realistic '24', and the scenes for the season look epic. Explain.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 02:20 AM) I think one of Floyd/Danks is gone before next season. I'd be pretty surprised if they're both gone this winter though. My guess is that one is kept, but traded in July if we're not in a good place in the standings. And my guess is we won't be in a good place in the standings. I really hope Danksy is traded. I love the guy, but I don't think we have the money to sign him, and I think he will get us the larger return on prospects. Get it done, Kenny.
  8. Here is (a rumor of) what the iPhone 5 will look like when it's unveiled. Thoughts?

  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) Thanks, JC, I eventually accepted that Sale was going to start the season in the bullpen. But my initial thoughts were consistent in that I thought he should've started the season in AAA. Chris Sale officially moved to bullpen thread: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t=0&start=0
  11. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 10:27 PM) I'm not sure if you said this before the season, as I know that the vast majority of the posters wanted him in the bullpen. JoeCoolMan is about the only guy I can definitely remember being against it. IIRC, J4L was the only other person completely on my side about NOT putting Sale in the bullpen, or at least the only other person as loud as me about it.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) He produced 1.4 WAR out of the bullpen. With the staff the way it was this year, being a starter just didn't fit. Getting him some valuable experience as a reliever in high leverage situations isn't a bad thing, in fact Sale had the 7th best WPA of all relievers in MLB. It's just part of his learning experience. TBH, I'm still worried about him as a starter. He just looks like a guy who will lose a lot of his stuff due to the transition and break down later on in the year. I wanted him starting in AA or AAA, not starting in the majors.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 09:20 PM) Did you catch Royce Clayton's role? Yeah, I am pretty sure his only impact in the movie was telling David Justice that pop was not free.
  14. Just saw Moneyball. Disappointed they never talked about the great players Oakland had. Why no talk or mention of The Big 3? I mean, Zito was a BEAST that year. They had Eric Chavez, Miguel Tejada was a stud. I just think it was too doom and gloom.
  15. Well.... 1 year late is better than never I guess. Hope Kenny thought burning a year of his starter shelf life was worth it.
  16. Pirri was tearing it up in the pre-season, right? I don't get games on TV anymore here at school, but IIRC, he had at least 2 or 3 goals.
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 09:54 AM) Dexter prediction TBH, this was given away in the season previews that came out a few weeks ago.
  18. Also, do you guys think Gus was really behind Brock being poisoned, or do you think that Jesse was careless w/ his cigarettes and Brock smoked the one w/ the ricin in it?
  19. Ok, so what the hell w/ the end of Breaking Bad? What are the chances that Gus just HAPPENED to know something was up? Or does it go along with Walt's theory that Gus knows everything, and maybe he has had eyes on Walt this whole time, thus he was tipped off about his car.
  20. Umm.....WHAT THE f*** FELIX JONES. Omg. f***ing incredible.
  21. Nice to see the Cowboys dismantling the 3-0 Lions. Haven't been able to watch the game since we get the Bears game here, but I hope that Suh/Fairly aren't hitting Romo too hard. I see Larenzo Robinson or whatever his name is is doing great. Good pickup this week I guess.
  22. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 03:08 PM) I would be so disappointed with Tony Peña. Do you pay attention to baseball? Bench coaches are made managers regularly. What would make anyone qualified to be a manager? Having already been a manager? Why did the Rays even hire Maddon? He learned from Scioscia. That's why. And Martinez has learned from him. You are confusing me not knowing who the hell Dave Martinez is with me thinking that hiring a bench coach is a bad idea. I was just curious as to who he is, not questioning him being a future manager.
  23. QUOTE (almagest @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 04:21 AM) He played from 86-01. Played from 95-97 with the Sox, where he had the best years of his career. Excellent outfielder, hit for average, got on base a ton. Little power. Ok, so then they clearly linked to the wrong person..... http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=martin010dav But that still doesn't tell me why he is so qualified to be our manager. Do people just hope because he is Maddon's bench coach that he will have learned how to manage??
