  1. Well, the Barons won the AA championship with a walk-off HR in the bottom of the 13th! I finished the postseason 1-0, 16 IP, 0.00 ERA, 12 H, 13 K, 0 BB, 0.75 WHIP. And the Dodgers swept the Twins for the World Series.
  2. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 11:48 PM) It's more about meeting your advancement goals, then stats. Usually if you meet every goal, and have good stats in that advancement period youll get moved up. I completed every advancement goal since about mid-June. I got the same email almost every advancement period about being ready, but keeping me in AA to boost confidence....
  3. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) I'd pitch him to the Cubs and see if they bite. But if they don't. you can't swallow that contract. Keep him and use him, just use him the right way. That's what I was going to say too. See if the Cubs want him, and pay half his salary or whatever. The only good thing Linebrink has ever done for this team is talked Peavy into coming here.
  4. Just threw a complete game shutout in the playoffs with 8 Ks, and I got 940 pts.
  5. Ok, I am setting fire to Kenny's house...... I stayed in AA Birmingham the WHOLE DAMN YEAR. My final stats of the reg. season..... 19-3, 2.03 ERA, 5 CG, 3 SO, 195 IP, 183 hits, 7 HR, 15 BB, 132 K, 1.01 WHIP And Daniel Cabrera got promoted before I did....... Time for the playoffs, I hope we lose.
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 10:21 PM) Anyone know why Brandon Hynick hasn't pitched? I assume he's injured, but what's the problem? Wonder if this guy will ever go to way of Rick Ankiel at some point in his career. He hit .300 with 15 HR his final year in college, and hit .344 in AAA with Colorado (in only 32 AB) but had 2 HR and 4 doubles. http://thebaseballcube.com/players/H/Brandon-Hynick.shtml
  7. QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:59 PM) So annoying I'm on the verge on the majors, but I just can't seem to earn that promotion. I'm a 1B and in the beginning of my 3rd year in the minors currently starting for the round rock express(astros AAA). I've been traded twice so far. Yeah, I can't seem to get into AAA. I am about to finish my first season at AA, and my ERA has been sub-2.00 the whole way, even dipping down to about 1.89 with a WHIP under 1.00. I have struggled a little recently, but will still reach about 18 wins and almost 200 innings.
  8. QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) maybe this will help you clear your head. Makes about as much sense as Across the Universe.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-a5LvUrIIqw...feature=related
  9. QUOTE (daggins @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 08:04 PM) Sorry, was getting at this: I have no idea what I just watched......
  10. QUOTE (lostfan @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) I remember someone started a thread like this last year, I said Regulate by Nate Dogg/Warren G Awesome song.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:30 PM) http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0110912/goofs I disagree. I saw a show on TV about all the goofs in movies, and I am pretty sure they had a clip of Samuel Jackson admitting that he messed up.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) Nick Johnson is the most injury-prone player of the modern era. No thanks. Nick Johnson would like you to kindly take a look at this fellow....
  13. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Man, how could you diss Donny like that. Any player I get a chance to have an autograph from is a welcomed opp. You should never say no. I remember even getting Rick Brunson autograph one time. Yes, the exact reason I got a Brent Lillibridge autograph. I got Harold Baines and Gavin Floyd. And then I got Jerry Owens and Brent Lillibridge. I think they both actually devalued my ticket they signed.
  14. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Frank Whaley played Brett. Look it up. Yeah, but the joke is that Samuel Jackson messed up his lines and called him Brad.....even though his name is Brett http://www.evtv1.com/player.aspx?itemnum=5691
  15. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 06:57 PM) Had a blast today at the Sox-Indians game. Game was fairly by the numbers, Retherford looked great, Putz seems to have life on all of his stuff, Santos is looking like a major league pitcher, and Daniel Cabrera is a mess. What happened after the game is where the fun began. I had great seats right by the dugout, so after the game after being spurned by Ozzie and Cora, I got Nix over to sign a ball, Lucy came up behind him with a look of hopeful expectation on his face, I did not ask him to sign, felt awful afterward. Next, came Retherford. Really nice guy. Fellow next to me asked him if he was playing tomorrow, said nah, “Going to Vegas.” Next comes Jordan Danks. One of the most athletic looking guys I’ve ever seen. And I’ll tell you Jordan Danks might be the coolest damn guy on this team. We had the following exchange. Me: Think you’ll be in Charlotte, this year? JorDanks: Dunno, they haven’t told me anything yet. Me: at least they seem to be fast tracking you. (At this Danks turns with the biggest grin on his face.) Jordanks: Absolutely! (He then turned to leave) Me: it’s the production! Next comes Dayan, who still clearly struggles with his English, but was good enough to come over and sign. After all this I was pretty damn happy. The players had dried up, so we turned to leave, and made it half way through the parking lot before my brother realized he has left his jacket in the stadium. We had to run back for that, but in some sort of divine providence, we got back to the employee paring lot, right as The Carlos Quentin pulled up to the stop sign in his car. Got his autograph, thanked him profusely, and went on my merry.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) Huh? The line from Pulp Fiction is, "Check out the big brain on Brett". Even though the characters name is Brad? right?
  17. Gartell just missed that one. Let's go Viciado.
  18. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 05:07 PM) I want to punch Bill Melton. He's worse than Ron Santo and that's saying a lot. Ouch, that is saying a lot, because Santo sounds like he is accustomed to having a drool bucket close by.
  19. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Ya, you're probably right. The game is just that real. Baseball in real life is very repetitive. Honestly, it would be boring if you dominated at every level and made the pros in a year. Usually it takes my guy 3-4 seasons to ever make the bigs. I had a career last year that took me like 5 seasons, and then I get traded and sent down to AAA again.
  20. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 04:39 PM) thats nucking futs Took place in the same state too.
  21. QUOTE (Cali @ Mar 11, 2010 -> 04:34 PM) you're so terrible Brent...thank god that situation will never be replicated during the regular season haha Hey, call him Lillibridge. Don't disgrace Morel by calling him Brent.
  22. That swing looked very familiar from CJ.....oh yeah.... http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/media/vide...tent_id=7137159 BOOM GOES THE DYNAMITE! Same swing, same pose, same spot, same distance, same score, same inning, same resulting score.
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Mar 10, 2010 -> 04:32 PM) I know a place where you can get jerseys for $16 (shipping will cost you a lot though). Not authentic, probably from the pawn shops of China, but word has it, they look and feel like the real thing. Sounds like lightinthebox.com
  24. I have always thought this would make a perfect walk up song..... Nelly - Batter Up Start it at 1:54, and should run to at least 2:07 when he says "Batter Up!" Afterall, Nelly DID play minor league baseball, and is a pretty good athlete. You ever see him in the celebrity softball tourney they have at the all-star break? Nelly mashes!
