  1. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 03:12 PM) How long has he been pitching? He is a converted catcher correct? SS
  2. Who is the guy doing the PBP? He is actually not too bad.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 09:15 AM) I'm playing through my season, but I'm a pitcher, so it's different. I started off with the Bowie Bay Sox (BAL) as a long reliever, then got a couple spot starts and moved into the rotation before they put me back in the pen as a MR. I then got traded as part of a deal for Lance Berkman and now I'm a long reliever for the Corpus Christi Hooks, still trying to get into the rotation. We're about 3/4 into the season and in 30 games, I'm 5-0 with a 3.44 ERA. 122 H, 82 K, 18 BB in 104.2 IP with a 1.34 WHIP. Yeah, I think starting pitcher is very fun and seasons go quick. Games only take about 15 minutes to play, and you only pitch once every 5 games, so it's not bad at all to go through a whole month of the season in 1 sitting. I am currently in June, and if I remember correctly, my stats are along the lines of.... 8-2 record, 2.28 ERA, 94 H, 93 IP, 3 BB, 63 Ks, 1.01 WHIP. That's just a guess since my system is not on, but it's close to those numbers. EDIT: Oh yeah, and if you are wondering how I am doing so well I have this advice. LEARN A CUTTER! You may already have it, but this cutter is amazing. I have been a big fan of it since my RTTS pitcher in 09. I get 90% of my strikeouts and whiffs on the cutter. As a RHP, I throw it on the lower left corner every time. This would mean IN on the lefties, and AWAY on the righties. They swing and miss like it's their job. The only reason I don't have more K's is because I sometimes have a hard time getting to 2 strikes on the batter because my fastball and circle-change are not that great yet.
  4. QUOTE (HeGone33 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 09:49 AM) Just realized we have a seperate thread for the game so I'll ask again....... For those who have both 09 and 10, is 10 worth the uprgarde?? My primary concerns are the graphics and gameplay, are these much of an upgrade from 09? Not really into franchise mode, and all that. Graphics are basically the same, or at least not enough to notice without playing the game side by side. Gameplay is virtually the same too. However, having Home Run Derby (most fun I have had) RTTS pitching and fielding training, online leagues, + all the little nuances (umps gather together and have video review for Fair/Foul HR calls, catchers taking masks off to field, pitchers actually being struck by line drives, fielders helping eachother out of hard plays, ect).
  5. QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 8, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) I kinda think Mitchell is more likely to make it to the majors than Danks. I honestly haven't really been much impressed by Jordan Danks other than the fact he's John's brother. I def. agree that Mitchell will probably have a better career in them majors, but I bet there is no doubt Danks gets a chance before Mitchell does. That is unless Mitchell GordonBeckham's (it's a verb) AA and AAA in a very short time frame.
  6. I really would not be surprised at all if Kenny plans on just moving Quentin to DH after this season, and having an OF of Pierre-Rios-Danks. And if Danks is not ready by then, then he can resign Andruw and have him in the OF, or if Andruw has a bad season at the plate, just go and get a stop-gap OF for 1 year. All in all, I see Quentin being our DH of the future. I think keeping your star slugger off his bad foot is a good idea, especially since he is not really adding anything to the team defensively. He is not a liability, but he is also not making any diving plays, or chasing down balls in the gap.
  7. I have a SP in RTTS. Amazingly, I was drafted by the White Sox. What are the odds!?!?! (1:30) Anyway, about a month into my career (doing very well, btw), the Sox traded Floyd, Pena, and Vizquel to the Blue Jays for J. Accardo, B. Lucy, and O. Oquendo. The only one I know of is Accardo, and that's not even close to an even trade. The reason, I'm assuming, is because the of Player Potential glitch. I didn't care to wait until the fix comes out tomorrow, since it's only RTTS, but that's an awfully s***ty trade! EDIT: The Sox just made up for that trade by trading Putz to the Red Sox for Lester. Wow.
  8. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 2, 2010 -> 07:23 PM) I have not... When roster update comes out on Monday, they are addressing the problem. I suggest no one start their franchise until tomorrow when the roster update is available.
  9. JoeCoolMan24 - JoeCoolMan24
  10. I don't want to jinx it, but have our pitchers allowed a HR this spring yet? EDIT: 1, Napoli
  11. Sox/Cubs game cancelled. I was looking forward to seeing Peavy.
  12. QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Mar 7, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) Me too. But it looks like the Cubs are going to be a disaster this year, so beating them may not mean much. They have 2 key injured pitchers (Lilly and Guzman) already. Soriano is still flubbing balls in left field. The Ghost of Milton Bradley (Carlos Silva) will make Cubs fans regret they ran Milton out of town. Lou is as clueless as ever. It's heading for disaster, and for Sox fans, it will be as funny as watching the Three Stooges. Funny you mention that. My buddy texted me during the game and said "I love watching Soriano in the outfield. He is like all three stooges wrapped into 1"
  13. I don't recall ever hearing Damon talk, but does he have a mental problems and speech impediment? http://mlbnetwork.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=7171759 He seems be at lost for words and how to form a sentence, then when he starts talking, he sounds like he has speaking problems.....
  14. QUOTE (elgonzo4sox @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 08:27 PM) Nice win today versus our inept northside neighbors and their train wreck of a pitching staff. Watching the 3 televised games so far this spring, I like these 2010 White Sox. The aggressive base running is putting pressure on the opposing pitcher, catcher and defense, and creating opportunities. It's great to see one single (if preceded by a walk and a steal) produce a run, instead of the 3 hits it often took in the past. The Sox defense looks better, and the pitching looks solid (welcome to the Sox J.J. Putz). It's still early in the spring, but I like what I see. I know Ozzie is having everyone run, just to see what they can do. But I find it pretty encouraging that as a team, we are 10 for 11 in SB.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 05:41 PM) As well as Flowers. Those would be my 3 "untouchables." Unfortunately, we have a razor thin system and the chances of landing an impact bat without including at least two of those guys is pretty much zero. You just wait until we draft Bryce Harper!
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 04:52 PM) Man I can't wait to start tracking Mitchell. I think we've got a future stud. Hope to god we don't trade him. Mitchell and Hudson are 2 guys we REALLY need to try and hang on to I think.
  17. Man, Viciedo looked awful in his last at-bat.
  18. No idea who #83 is. The box score even refuses to acknowledge him. NVM, I found him.... http://thebaseballcube.com/players/S/Brandon-Short.shtml
  19. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Everytime I hear Len Casper, this image comes to mind. Holy crap, you are right!
  20. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 03:44 PM) as i laughed, they just started piling up in my mind: guzman, prior, wood, hill, choi, patterson, pie lol Prior and Wood were legit.
  21. Bob Brenley calls not wanting to have Live BP vs. Marmol a "veteran move". The rest of us call that a "p**** move"
  22. If we did not have a garden gnome at SS, he would have caught that line drive off of Torres.
  23. QUOTE (Real @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Tied at 3-3. Pierre grounds out on a bunt attempt, 1 down. Beckham singles on a sharp linedrive to RF. Pierzynski grounds out to 2nd, Beckham advances to 2nd. 2 down. Finally Beckham with his first hit of the spring. Took him 2 games!
