QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 05:31 PM) You don't trade the face of a franchise..... The Bulls never traded Jordan The Blackhawks will never trade Kane The Cubs wouldn't trade Bartman And Slayer will be with White Sox until the day he retires. lol.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 02:38 PM) Well, when you're invisible, you can steal a lot of bases. This is true. If Alexei army crawls to 2nd base, the grass will be taller than him and he can make it unnoticed. -

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 01:22 AM) don't you figure some vet will go down in ST and JD will get a job? I hope some vet will not go down, but either way, i would like Jermaine on this team. I would feel MUCH more comfortable with a lineup including Jermaine Dye than a lineup without him. -
I am glad Peavy wants to get A-Gon, but unfortunately Gonzo is not a Free Agent, so I am pretty sure Peavy's lobbying isn't going to do s***.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) There's no way he starts off in AA.. no chance. At best, he might start at W-S and even that is a question mark. I don't see any chance of him repeating at Kanny. He hit .300 there with a .417 OBP and .850 OPS in his 34 games there. I think he is basically passed that league. I think W-S is the obvious choice, but I think there is an outside chance he starts in AA. I guess it also might depend on Jordan Danks placing too. If Danks is in AAA, I bet Mitchell goes to AA, and obvious if Danks goes back to AA, then Mitchell will be in A+ at W-S. I mean, Danks is clearly a lesser prospect in the system, and he was able to go from Kanny to W-S in 10 games, and then only 30 more games to go from W-S to Birmingham. I certainly would not be surprised to see Mitchell in AA, but again, I think it depends on Danks' location. -

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 09:50 PM) I remember hearing that as well, and the Sox want him to become more aggressive at the plate this season. I'm not overly excited about his line, but that's mainly because it's just a very small sample. I'm excited to see what kind of numbers he can put up this season, and I do like that he is willing to work a count. If he can become a Tony Phillips type of hitter, though hopefully more successful on the basepaths (because a 60.8% SB% is just not good) I would be ecstatic. As optimistic as this sounds, I likened him to Carl Crawford when i saw him with LSU, and Orel Hershiser said the same thing. He has the same skillset as Crawford, while looking a lot like crawford in body type and size as well. Obviously that would spectacular if he turned into Crawford, but at this point he looks pretty good. Is he starting in A+, or do you guys think AA? I think AA is where he will start, and if not, he will be there before the summer. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) It will be interesting to see how he works his walks. Is he a guy that just takes a lot of pitches, ala Nick Swisher, who also takes a lot of strikes, or is he a guy with a real eye for the zone. Like Iamshack said, he does seem to be taking too many pitches. And now that I think about it, when I saw him play for LSU in the CWS, it seemed he would rather take every pitch and hope for a walk than have to swing the bat. I don't mind that if he is drawing walks though. Even if pitchers get wise of it and start throwing right down the middle, he at least has the skill to just let it rip and crush the ball for a HR, or at least hit the gaps for a 2B or 3B. -

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 05:25 PM) Glass Getz was among the worst defensive 2B in all of baseball last season. Later, Chris. If fans can live with production like .270/16/62, average defense and excellent baserunning from Teahen, he's gonna be popular guy the next few years. I said I was a fan of Chris Getz, not that Chris Getz is a better player. Something about having a who from Whoville excited me. -

QUOTE (SockMe @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 10:52 PM) Tyler Flowers will move up that list so fast! It is good to see Mitchell so high up there. Last year was his first year in the minors and it sounds like he is making noise. I am very suprised that Mitchell was ranked this high considering he was injured last year. I LOVE his OBP though. 23 walks in 34 games is amazing for a speed guy. If Mitchell can walk 100 times in a 162 game season, then he could be a guy who will swipe 50+ bags because that is a LOT of times being on first base. -

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 25, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) I'll be looking forward when the Reds place Joey Votto on the block next year. But other than that, I'm not too interested in the offseason as we got business to take care of this season. Because the Red's have Yondor Alonso, right? -

Wayyy to early for this...but if you must... http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/09/2011...ree-agents.html I would like to see us go after Carlos Pena for a 2 year deal. Kubel would nice too as a DH assuming his option is not picked up. As for pitchers, I would LOVE to get Brandon Webb, but he will go to the Yankees, I'm sure. -
Meh. He gets on base at a decent rate, but I don't know if I would want to have him for $7M a year. If Toronto throws in a few mil, I would, but I would rather have Dye at $4M than Overbay at $7 (even though Dye is not a lefty).

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 24, 2010 -> 12:50 AM) :lolhitting For a guy who has not played a single game for us, Teahen is quickly becomming one of my favorite sox players already. I agree. I really disliked him when the trade happened because A) I was a chris Getz fan, but also because Teahen at 3rd meant no Chone Figgins or Beltre or Orlando Hudson (keeping Becks at 3B). But this guy has been funny on Twitter, so I am starting to be a real fan. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 10:51 PM) I enjoy SouthSideSox, but they need more content and analysis. The articles produced by SSS pale in comparison to what Athletics Nation, LonestarBall, and Lookout Landing provide for their team on a consistent basis. They're often quality, but i don't think they come out consistently enough to inspire any sort of deep discussion. Their comments sections nearly always devolve into unmoderated ramblings, thus making whatever discussion an article could have provided null and the members make no use out of the excellent fanshots service the site provides. And no we were referring to a certain other message board that rhymes with WSI. The whole comment section is always full of inside jokes and the same recycled opinions repeated over and over. There are rarely intelligent conversations that don't include "you OPOS" or "The Twins have already won the division". Like I said, I still visit the site to read for Sox news and often during the season there for game recaps, but the discussions there make the Youtube comment sections look like scholars. -

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Same. I would never actually post a personal twitter update, and I don't bother telling any friends I have it, but I have a twitter just to follow what sports writers and players and teams are saying. It's VERY useful in that regard. I will still make fun of the people who think they are important and have a twitter in which they constantly post updates on their mundane lives though. Yeah, I have never "updated" my twitter, and no one else knows I have one. I have Facebook for keeping in touch with friends, not twitter. -

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 07:17 PM) I always like to do an advanced google search on that board for threads a year old or so. They are funny because it seems half the posts are by people who have banned next to their status. Being a moderator there must be a full time job just banning people . What site are you referring to? I was banned from SouthSideSox for like 2 1/2 years for saying I hoped Boone Logan dies. Remember that one game where he had like 3 throwing errors in the inning? I said something to the effect of "I hope Boone Logan dies!" and I got banned. I was unbanned before the 2009 season when SB nation changed their site and everyone became unbanned. Then they banned me AGAIN for having "My president is white" in my status. It was a mock of the rap song that goes "My president is black, my lambo is blue, ..ect" and a play on the fact that Obama is half black and half white. They took that as somehow making me racist, even though I support Obama, and banned me for life with the nice little message "I gave you the opportunity to prove you weren't a Giant Douche. You failed." That site is informative, but god damn do they suck up to the "almighty" Cheat. And a bunch of uptight people too that can't handle a little satire signature. If China has a website equivalent, it would be southsidesox.com lol. -

QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 09:18 PM) you know, i may actually create a twitter account for this. i can feel my moral stand disintegrating.......... I created a Twitter for the sole purpose of following baseball writers and reporters.
