  1. Wow, what elitists. If they bring in all that money, then pay for your own damn stadium!
  2. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 4, 2010 -> 07:24 PM) If he retires, that's his decision, but to retire at age 32 and leave that much money, pitching success, and potential memories on the table as a baseball player makes no sense. This isn't like football where you risk your health and limb at all times. And I think if Buehrle pitches until about 41, he has a chance to be a H.O.F if he can get around 280-300 wins. World Series Ring, Gold Glove, All-star appearances, 2 No-hitters, Perfect Game. In 9 years he could had 1 more to each one of those things.
  3. It's depressing to hear, but I hope he retires with the Sox and does not say he is done, and then go to St. Louis for 3-4 years.
  4. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Being one of the best #5 starters in baseball would make him a #4 or even a #3 starter. I didn't say he'd be the #4 in the Sox rotation - it's pretty obvious that Peavy, Buehrle, Floyd, and Danks are all better than him currently. Ok. Yeah, I thought you meant he can be the #4 guy in our rotation, which won't happen obviously. I can def. see him being a #3 quality starter this year as well.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 05:45 PM) I think Dan Hudson would probably be a #4 this season, with the potential to be a #2-3. I don't think Hudson will be a #4 this season, but I can see him being one of the best #5 starters in baseball. I really like Hudson and he looks good for a 22-year-old.
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Huh, for a stats guy Keith Law sure seems to be ignoring every relevant stat in this discussion. While dissing the stadium acting as if we change the name every couple years. 2 names in the history of the stadium? Yes? Even Chase Field in Arizona has had 2 names already in it's 12 years of existence.
  7. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 2, 2010 -> 04:18 AM) I see, Cubs, Marlins, Pirates, Braves, Nationals. Looks like mostly NL East. Ohhhh boy. As long as we don't see the Phillies.
  8. What NL division are we playing? *please NL west, please*
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 08:19 PM) bad as the mariners O is I think they get the weird year this year and take the west. I also have the Mariners winning the west. I think they really improved their offense with Bradley, Figgins, and Kotchman. And also have the best 1-2 punch in baseball with Felix Hernandez and Cliff Lee.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 01:27 PM) Wow. You were in elementary school during the Bartman game? Now I feel old. I was 13, and would have just started 7th grade. Hah.
  11. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) I do like what ya got there because damon breaks up the righties butttttt.... i think youd see Pierre Damon Q PK Beckham Teahen Rios AJ Lexi and after a while i see Beckham movin up to the 3, whoevers doin better PK or Q in the 4 then the lesser of the 2 in the 5....of course assuming GB does what we all think he can do I just love Becks in the 2-hole because he is such a good gap hitter, than if Pierre gets on base, he could score from 1st, or at least have a chance at stealing 2nd and then easily scoring on a gap hit. Beckham I think will level out at about 20-25 HR guy, so the 2-hole seems like a good fit for him. But wherever he hits I am sure he will produce.
  12. So Damon to RF, and Quentin to DH? LF) Pierre 2B) Beckham DH) Quentin 1B) Konerko RF) Damon C) Pierzynski SS) Ramirez CF) Rios 3B) Teahen Is that the line-up?
  13. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 06:08 PM) Fanhouse puts Sox at 23. Probably more realistic than dead last. Again, not that these things matter. And SI as #26 i think.
  14. 2nd place sounds reasonable, but not 79 wins.
  15. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jan 28, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) From Law's chat: bill (St. Louis) hudson's ceiling as a starter for Whitesox Klaw (1:11 PM) 4 or 5. Dan Hudson (Chicago) I need an explanation on why I didn't make your top 100. I dominated every league in existence last season! Klaw (1:12 PM) With average stuff at best. And I'm sorry, what a D1 college product did in A-ball - especially low-A - is just not that exciting. Unless he stunk, in which case, he's got one food in the discard pile. So he does not like Hudson because Hudson only did well in A-ball, and not great, even though he did great in AA and decent in AAA?? I don't follow. Would he rather have had Hudson dominate A-ball and then suck as he moved up the ranks?
  16. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:23 PM) He's the guy I'm most excited about and like I said before.. has the most potential of any player currently in our system. I'm talking superstar potential if he puts every damn thing together. I didn't realize that Thompson was such a power stud. I completely assumed he was just a speed guy with no power, like a Tavaras type player. I didn't realize he is more Soriano like.
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 09:55 PM) Danks as a solid #2 hitter as soon as this season? Me think not. Yeah, I don't think so either. I think he will be the first OF called up, but I doubt he hits in the #2 hole.
  18. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 08:48 PM) Well in fairness to Law, he is a stats guy. Floyd was posting 6 K/9, 5 BB/9. That's not a Major League pitcher. Gavin Floyd's turnaround was seemingly unforeseeable by everyone other than Kenny and his scouting team. If Law is a stats just then he really has no excuse for the Alexei Ramirez comment in Oct. 2008.
  19. QUOTE (Melissa1334 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 08:08 PM) i was doing a little reading about him to see what the hype is. so basically he projects as edgar renteria, with a little better defense When I saw the name "Hanley Ramirez" used as a comp for that kid I just x'ed out of the page.
  20. So I was talking to a Royals professional scout online, and he gave me some feedback on a few of the Sox top prospects....
  21. I lost respect for Keith Law when he suggested that for Halloween that someone just put a black shirt on and swing a bat around aimlessly, and that was Alexei Ramirez. And he said this Oct of 2008, when Alexei was hitting about .300 and contending for R.O.Y. Here it is... "Bobby (Detroit): You should be Alexei Ramirez for Halloween SportsNation Keith Law: (1:35 PM ET ) Too easy. Walk around in a black shirt, swinging a baseball bat around but never hitting anything."
  22. QUOTE (earthshiner @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 12:32 PM) thanks for that answer. I have trying to figure this one out for a while. No player has worn since a backup catcher in 80 or 81 and before that Orta. #5 Ah yes, your right, it was #5
  23. QUOTE (kev211 @ Jan 27, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) #6 was available when he came up, so it must be unofficially retired by JR. I thought Nix was #6? No?
  24. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 03:30 AM) Ya.. don't have a facebook... BOOOOOOO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tqXRtchhDsk
