voted for Johnny. Hopefully a little goodluck for his all-star bid. He better make the allstar game since pitchers are the only positions in the ASG that mean something.
-
I cant wait to see what Richard does, not really excited about Getz though.

Are you good friends with him? Or you just know who he is? And Silverio went 2-4 with an RBI for Bristols 5-4 win. But he had 2 Errors in the field, giving him 4 already on the season. Not a good sign, but he will learn.

I was REALLY hoping GoBe would come up with the bases loaded to hit a granny. Oh well. 2-4 with a HR is still a nice game. His season average is like .414 now. And he leds all NCAA in HR (well, tied). -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 05:38 PM) You made Uribe sound like Derek Jeter, you should be ashamed of yourself. ??? I recall saying Uribe plays good defense, that right there is nothing like Jeter. And I didn't say Uribe was a good average hitter. He is power or nothing. -

GoBe hits a hard linedrive into LF. He is now hitting .412 on the season, and .550 in the CWS. The announcer said when Gordon cant find a pitch to drive, he just adjusts and singles into a gap. Good. He could be our first average hitter in a while since Frank Thomas and Magglio to some extent. -

GoBe throwing down a tag on a would-be basestealer. It was a nice snap tag on the runner, but almost got his leg broke as he didnt brace for the runner hitting him, oh well, ended fine. -

Erin Andrews is f***ing gorgeous. I saw her interview Gordon and I was praying he would open his mouth and dive at her chest. He probably got some after the interview though. -

Keep Uribe for sure over Ozuna. Ozuna blows in the field, Uribe is awesome in it. Offensively one gives you power and gap hitting, the other gives you speed and bunting ability. Overall I say take Uribe because of his defense and ability to take a ball into the gaps and over the fence. -
GoBe has his average up to .406 on the season. Seems like every game he has at least 2 hits. And they just showed a replay from Game 1 of the CWS Finals were GoBe snagged a liner, and dove at the runner who strayed off 2nd too far. He dove and tagged the leg of the runner diving back to 2nd. Great play.

QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) Sweet, court date and Clayton Kershaw on my birthday! Good thing I don't have a dog or hold stock at the moment. Wow that's crazy, my birthday is tommorrow too. -
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) Thome's still hitting .230 and Konerko's at a whopping .215, but yeah they're starting to hit well. Average isn't everything of course, but the power is coming with it. Swish is almost up to .240 now a days too and is basically a league average player while he continues his hot hitting. I'd imagine he'll still end the year with 20-25 homers and a very good on base percentage. Konerko and Thome's paltry averages are even more encouraging to that stat. They are obviously going to hit better than what they are now. I expect them both to be at around 250-260 at the lowest. I think we have a real good chance at sustaining at least a .290 team BA the rest of the season. If we do that, it will be huge considering the more it heats up, the more dingers at the Cell.

So yesterday after the game, Chuck Garfien was reading off the white sox lineups batting averages. I noticed outside of Swisher and Buehrle of coarse, they all were in the .260-.300 range. I was suprised and looked it up online. Over the past 30 days, our team batting average is .301. Damn.

If they did away with the "Every team has a rep" rule, then you could easily see Q, Crede, AJ, Dye, Danks, and Linebrink/Jenks.

And Gavin Floyd is actually not doing that good. Look at his BB/K and BB/IP. His ERA really should be mid to upper 3's. I do agree with Danks though.

QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 11:24 PM) I'm sorry.........but how is this game EVERYTHING? Maybe I'm delusional...but I can't quite grasp this concept. So if we lose this one game tomorrow it means that we miss the post-season? Please. Take a deep breath, calm down....you're going to make it through the next 24 hours...I promise. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to get swept by the Cubs...none of us do. A lot of other posters in this thread talk about how Cub fans talk hamburgers.....I hope most of you realize that most Cub fans have the baseball IQ of a deaf and blind pig. If you can't shut them up chances are you're either not trying very hard, or just need more material. These are the people that created insulting and racist t-shirts, that hold up giant "W" flags and posters to let the frat boys and mindless skanks aware of their victory, and how could we forget that these are the people that showered the field with trash when AJ hit a go ahead three run homerun two years ago. Remind them of Cesar Izturis's crotch grab last year, how their stadium reeks of urine, and how all of them used to worship Sammy "rum bottle" Sosa. 90% of Cub fans are classless and clueless. Congratulate them on their 100 years of success, remind them of Bartman, and give them the finger. It's far too easy. So chill. Thanks. I meant everything as in the series. If we lose tonight, there is no way we sweep them so they win 4-2 at least. We need to win tonight to give us a shot at 3-3. That's what I meant.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) It was Jason Lane actually. Are you sure? I also thought it was Mike Lamb. -
I wish we could get some video on this kid. I want to see how he looks at the plate. And to Ozzieball, Thigpen would be lying. No way he is 17. My guess is 19.
-
Our nuts are on the line, that's what. The Cubs will have big bragging rights. If the Cubs were doing bad, this would be better because then we could say "Yeah, but you still suck". But no, they are going to sweep us, AND be a lot better than us. No way we sweep them at home, so this game is everything.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) This incident doesn't relate, at all, but I remember during the World Series when one of the Houston hitters (Mike Lamb?) was credited for a HR in Houston. However, upon viewing the instant replay, the ball was below the homerun barrier. Not much was made out of it; no controversy developed. Yet for everything that happened to us and umpires during the playoffs, the one play that directly resulted in runs crossing the board was ignored. I honestly believe Cabrera's ball was a home run as well, but I wouldn't use it as an excuse. We had other opportunities. I remember exactly that HR. I had arguements with people who said "The umps gave the Sox the WS". I tried point out that the 2 plays that went our way did not directly score runs, but the insuing plays did. That HR DIRECTLY led to runs. The ball was below that line by a foot, and ruled a HR. No media brought that one to light either. -
I REALLY hope Silverio is 17 years old. There is a big chance he is not, but even 19 would be great.
-
i dont blame the offense. 11 hits and 7 runs should win 80% of your games. Unfortunately, Contreras sucks ass.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) It wasn't a home run, it's a really poor angle they have. I rewatched the normal angle and slowed it down, and it didn't hit near it. And you could see on that replay they showed that it didn't hit the foul pole anywhere. If it was even close, don't you think there would have been any sort of argument? Whole Sox bench has the same angle. That first angle is a bad angle, you cant see the ball flush with the pole. The 2nd angle is a great one because you can see it clearly knick off the pole. I dont see the confusion here. Now as to why no one on the bench argued it is because it took us slow-mo replay and a bunch of angles to conclude this. I doubt they all saw it well enough to argue with the umps.
