Trade Konerko, Trade for Griffey

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 12:38 PM) Have you heard of Joey Votto, the current Reds first baseman. The guy hitting .282 with 10 homers. Also let me introduce you to Alonso, their number 1 draft pick who also plays first. So why exactly would Konkero make sense for them. Plus I dont want Griffey. He would most likely break something in CF and would be worthless to us. Have you heard of reading the post before replying? -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 11:34 AM) IIRC, Chris Young was one of the main players involved in the package. I wouldn't have a problem picking up Griffey, but it should be noted that he'd probably be worse in CFer than Swisher (whose been more than solid). Also, until Paulie starts hitting, you probably aren't going to get good value for him (you could probably get a good prospect, but nothing top notch). Heck, I would have no problem dealing Paulie, but the reality is the Sox are going to have Paulie/Thome in there lineup for at least this season and we have to hope that they can put things together and than this off-season, the Sox can look at making some adjustments in that area if they are interested in doing so. We just really need to see Thome or Konerko go. I also would not mind seeing Thome traded for a CF. Move Dye to DH, move Swisher to LF, Q to RF (with his cannon arm), and slot in that new CF. Or Thome for a 2B. Again Dye to DH, Swish to LF, Q to RF, Alexei to CF. -

Finally the best interleague rivalry gets put on TV. I am sick of the Yankees or Red Sox on ESPN 4 days a week. -
Trade Konerko, Trade for Griffey
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to ChiliIrishHammock24's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, also, I am thinking we can get more value back for Konerko, then it would cost to get Griffey. So say we get 2 good prospects for Konerko, it might only cost 1 of those good ones, and a low level one of ours to get him. So essentially, we could be getting Griffey + a decent prospect for Konerko, which I would do. -

QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 11:57 AM) where would he play? haha i had to....i just couldnt resist CF. -
I really feel we need to dump Konerko off on someone, and we need a CF if we can do that. I hope Konerko starts to heat up a little bit, and then we can trade him to a team for a few prospects. Then we can spin a couple of those prospects and maybe 1 or 2 of our own to the Reds for Ken Griffey Jr. I know the Reds are looking to trade Griffey, and it would be nice to get him. Our lineup potentially 1) Cabrera 2) AJ 3) Q 4) Griffey 5) Thome 6) Dye 7) Crede 8) Swisher 9) Alexei That's a pretty good lineup. Another idea would be to trade Konerko for prospects, and then use those to try and net someone to play 2B, and move Alexei to CF. Ryan Freel maybe.

The answer, unfortunately, is Cubs fans. This is because its more "popular" to be a Cubs fan and the hott blonde chicks like Blue and White better than Black and White which is more "rough" colors. Look at every hott girl, they own an iSuck, a Blackberry/Razor, and they are a Cubs fan. The smarter girls are Sox fans.

When does the season end for Georgia? Isn't the college world series the end of the season?

So lets say we sign Beckham, Danks, Morel all pretty soon. When is the earliest they can start in our minors? Do they have to wait until next year, or could, say, Beckham be placed in Great Falls or W-S or wherever next month?

Wow. Great catch by Dye. That is almost exactly like the commercial where there are 2 outs in the 9th, and Dye makes the sliding catch to end the game. -

Im a THOUROUGHLY suprised that no one has "Batter up" by Nelly. Seriously. This song and "Summertime" by Sublime are sweet baseball songs... Batter Up - http://www.imeem.com/skanye21/music/3OvXwB...tics_batter_up/ Summertime - http://www.imeem.com/people/P3shSN/music/p...ime_summertime/ -

Seriously, when does Cook go up to AAA? With his age, we need to start to advance him as much as possible. We can't baby him and bring him up at age 29, it won't do much good. He needs to be in AAA soon, with a September call-up, and a chance for a roster spot next spring.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 11:10 PM) Here is a nice piece on Swisher, written today. http://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2008/6/2/...g-with-nick-swi I was JUST about to post that here. lol. That article gave me a lot of hope for Swisher. I was thinking he looked better than his average and stuff showed, but i never realized that he was actually doing "average" with extreme bad luck.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 05:03 PM) if right now Walk is unlocking a lot of things Alexei has never seen before, firing him tomorrow and bringing someone in with a whole new set of principles could derail that work. And Alexei's growth could be stunted. This is what not doing anything (on that front) could accomplish. People are missing the entire basis of my argument, which is that Walker is doing some good to really good things. Alexei, Quentin. The fault lies in the vets who are already set in their ways. It doesnt sound all that well thought out to say, "Just do SOMETHING." It's as if you're admitting that exasperation is taking over reason. Walk gets credit for NO ONE except maybe Dye, Konerko, and Crede. I can't think of any other hitters that really exploded with us before being good anywhere else. Cabrera was good, Alexei was good (in Cuba), Q demolished the minors, Thome was good, AJ was almost as good, Swisher was good, Uribe has never been good. My point is that only 2 or 3 guys have done really well while Walker has been here, all the rest have done it elsewhere already, and now they all suck. Now for the opposite effect, look at Coop. Coop is a GREAT pitching coach because he can take strugggling guys and turn them great, and they can continue the success they had before they came here as well. PLEASE fire Greg Walker. PLEASE call up Josh Fields.

Anthony Carter (Crazy stats)

QUOTE (Noberto Martin @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 02:21 AM) I personally like Poreda and Ely better even though their numbers are worse just because of their draft positions. Hopefully he pans out but lots of pitchers dominate low A. (remember Ray Liotta? god I wish he made the bigs) Yeah, I like Poreda better as well just because he was drafted in the first round so he is probably a safer pick, but regardless, it will be fun to follow Carter and see if he goes through the levels well. -
June Wallpaper Featuring Alexei Ramirez

Good luck so far. Alexei is batting .750 in June with the wallpaper! -
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 1, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) Trade Cabrera, Buehrle, Swisher, Uribe, and Crede to PIT for Sanchez and Bay. Trade Thome to BAL/KC for a minor leaguer or two. Ramirez 2B Sanchez SS Quentin LF Bay DH Dye RF Pierzynski C Fields 3B Konerko 1B Anderson CF Vazquez Contreras Danks Floyd Broadway In the offseason, go after Sabathia to be the ace, or maybe even Teixeria for 1B. If we get Tex, trade Konerko to a team for a bag of bats. Just a thought. That first trade is TERRIBLE for us. Bay is the only good one, and he is offset by Swisher. I assume you are joking anyway though.

Most likely scenerio - Lineup shuffled. Something crazy like everyone in order of batting AVG, or OBP, or something. Most disired scenerio - Walker fired, Uibe released, Fields called up, Crede traded

QUOTE (TheOcho @ May 27, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) I'd like to get a few ideas for some White Sox novelty t-shirts, much like the one's you would find outside U.S. Cellular Field. Feel free to get as "Dirty" as you want. Any ideas would be appreciated or photos! Thank you all for the help and if I decide to make a t-shirt out of one of the designs I'm sure I'll send one or two your way. Thanks. How about my Quentin sign that I was on the big screen for 3 times, and mentioned in the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times... Q-UPERMAN

QUOTE (KevinM @ May 31, 2008 -> 08:51 AM) Ramirez and Uribe are essentially the same player, so I'm not really concerned who gets more playing time. Except Ramirez is younger, faster, better hitter, and can play the OF. And after Ramirez getting playing time the past couple weeks, im not so sure that they aren't very close in defensive ability. Ramirez has a lot more athletic ability, and they both have rocket arms. Give me the younger, faster player over Uribe please.

Anthony Carter (Crazy stats)

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 31, 2008 -> 02:24 AM) I'd bet damn good money he's not throwing through a teacup in A ball. In fact, I'd venture to guess he's getting quite a few generous calls down there that he wouldn't dream about getting in AA. His control's a bit overrated. He's one to watch, but I'd look at how he does in AA or get a velocity report before I'd even consider Carter a prospect. Not a non-prospect, just a wait-and-see minor leaguer. Similar to Cook. Based on what? Maybe he is actually getting squeezed on those walks and he really is even better than his 66/10 shows. I mean, unless there is something to back that up, I dont think it's a fair assessment to make.
