  1. The only reason that Uribe is the starting 2B is because the org. dosen't want to rush Ramirez by throwing him into a starting job right out of the gate.
  2. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Mar 22, 2008 -> 05:05 PM) Major League pitchers throw primarily 70-80% fastballs. Yea but at least those other pitchers probably have other good pitches to compliment. He basically just said all he has is his fastball, and if I read that, im sitting fastball every single time. If his other pitches aren't good as well, you won't have much trouble.
  3. Damn, now I regret my AT&T service.
  4. I cant tell if Brian is any better than he always was. He looks to be a LOT better at seeing whats a ball and whats a strike, but jesus, he still takes those terrible hacks at low breaking pitches, and he makes some ugly swings at some other junk as well. It's good to see his eye has improved though, and this will force pitchers to throw better pitches over the plate, and he will get more to hammer.
  5. Jew-Power!! I think Poreda sounds great and all, but I didn't like reading that he says he wants to throw 70-90% Fastballs, and his secondary pitches are "good enough". I don't think he will be able to survive on 70-90% fastballs in the majors. Big league players can smash fastballs, he needs at least 1 more great pitch before I can see him doing anything in the majors.
  6. This sucks. I can't stand Santo, good thing he does radio, then you don't see him drool bucket.
  7. Somebody needs to either A) Inject some steroids into Lexi to beef him up, or B ) Force him to go out to eat with Uribe, and have Uribe teach him how to shutdown a buffet.
  8. From MLBTR: Hellllll yeahhhh. Uribe could be out of here....
  9. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) If this means Ramirez is going to get a lot of time at 2B, why is he in CF today? This is all very weird. Uribe is a very popular guy on the team. It could have some sort of effect on the team if they think he got screwed. Yea, thats what I pointd out a while ago. Makes no sense for Ramirez not to be at 2B unless A) A 2B is going to be traded for B) Ramirez could be traded for a team looking for a CF
  10. You know, DJ Carasco hasn't looked that bad. He gave up a couple runs, but he has looked better than Masset and some other arms this ST.
  11. Lexi on base every time so far. 2-2, and just drew a walk. Who says he isn't patient!
  12. QUOTE(GoSox05 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 02:29 PM) How far did he hit it? Maybe 5 feet over the LF wall. Not all that far, but from the replay, it looked like a pop-up.
  13. I totally forgot about Ellis. I'm starting to think that is a MUCH more likely than getting Roberts. In fact, I would not even want Roberts if it means losing Fields/Danks/Poreda/Jenks or any of those good young players we actually have. Swish knows Ellis, probably threw in a good word.
  14. The scary part of Lexi's HR is that he got UNDER the ball. If he squared the baby up, oh man.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 19, 2008 -> 02:17 PM) It makes sense, unless Uribe did something completely ridiculous in the last 24 hours, ie blow-up with KW or Ozzie, not show for something and the Sox are just willing to eat 4.5m to get him off the team. Look, I would love Brian Roberts, but I just can't come up with a package the Sox could offer, unless they really roll the dice for this year and offer Fields. But they would surely have enough time to simply move Lexi to 2B. It's ST, wouldn't be a problem to move him over and slot Ozuna in CF or LF with Swish to CF. And for a trade... I was thinking somewhere along the lines of.... Anderson/Owens/Quentin (one of them) along with Richar, Masset, and Broadway.
  16. Here is something I don't get. Uribe is DFA'd, Ramirez PRESUMABLY becomes our new 2B. Yet he is playing CF today?!?!?! Not sure about you guys but this SCREAMS Brian Roberts trade (or someone new at 2B). If this is to clear room for Sexi Lexi to play 2B, he would surely be getting as much time as he cane there, not Ozuna, and certainly you would think Richar would get time to play there as well. With Lexi in the outfield, this makes me think that they are still grooming him for the Utility role, and maybe they are on the fringes of acquiring a TRUE 2B, and not just plugging Richar into the spot. Anyone else see my logic?
  17. So does this now take our roster to 38? Now we trade for Brian Roberts and some craptastic reliever on the O's?
  18. This is SOO bad. I get Uribe sucks, and should not be on this team. But for god sakes, trade him for at least a minor leaguer or get SOMETHING in return rather than dump 4.5M on NOTHING>
  19. Crede is on fire! 2 Hits today! PULL THE TRIGGER KENNY, SABEAN IS KNOCKING DOWN YOUR DOOR!!
  20. I DO worry about Bobby's weight though. I think he needs to drop 15-20 pounds before I am really cofident with him. Just seems like him seemingly gaining weight this offseason won't help him.
  21. I feel bad for Quentin, he is now the buried player. OF is Swisher and Dye no matter what. Ozzie and Kenny love Owens. Ramirez is now getting OF time so he can be our utility man. BA is putting on a clinic, and is really in a make or break season. With those 3 players playing for the final spot really, Quentin is just throw to the curb. I feel bad for the guy really.
  22. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ Mar 17, 2008 -> 03:31 PM) who had the error that helped bring on these unearned runs? If you mean FOR the White Sox, then LF Gabe Gross. If you for AGAINST the White Sox, then Fields. He booted an easy groundball with 2 outs. Javy then gives up a couple more hits and a HR, then another hit. Ugly.
  23. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Mar 14, 2008 -> 08:40 AM) Did you have any unusual characters in any of your fields? Thanks for the heads up. Nope, just tried again and I got the same thing. Couple things: My name has numbers in it. My password has a number in it. My name has an ' in it. Those are the only things I can think of. Any of those reasons why?
  24. I thought Wasserman had a good shot at the team? He had a good showing last year, and I don't recall him struggling this spring, has he?
