And Gavin Floyd is actually not doing that good. Look at his BB/K and BB/IP. His ERA really should be mid to upper 3's. I do agree with Danks though.

QUOTE (CWSOX45 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 11:24 PM) I'm sorry.........but how is this game EVERYTHING? Maybe I'm delusional...but I can't quite grasp this concept. So if we lose this one game tomorrow it means that we miss the post-season? Please. Take a deep breath, calm down....you're going to make it through the next 24 hours...I promise. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to get swept by the Cubs...none of us do. A lot of other posters in this thread talk about how Cub fans talk hamburgers.....I hope most of you realize that most Cub fans have the baseball IQ of a deaf and blind pig. If you can't shut them up chances are you're either not trying very hard, or just need more material. These are the people that created insulting and racist t-shirts, that hold up giant "W" flags and posters to let the frat boys and mindless skanks aware of their victory, and how could we forget that these are the people that showered the field with trash when AJ hit a go ahead three run homerun two years ago. Remind them of Cesar Izturis's crotch grab last year, how their stadium reeks of urine, and how all of them used to worship Sammy "rum bottle" Sosa. 90% of Cub fans are classless and clueless. Congratulate them on their 100 years of success, remind them of Bartman, and give them the finger. It's far too easy. So chill. Thanks. I meant everything as in the series. If we lose tonight, there is no way we sweep them so they win 4-2 at least. We need to win tonight to give us a shot at 3-3. That's what I meant.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 22, 2008 -> 09:32 AM) It was Jason Lane actually. Are you sure? I also thought it was Mike Lamb. -
I wish we could get some video on this kid. I want to see how he looks at the plate. And to Ozzieball, Thigpen would be lying. No way he is 17. My guess is 19.
-
Our nuts are on the line, that's what. The Cubs will have big bragging rights. If the Cubs were doing bad, this would be better because then we could say "Yeah, but you still suck". But no, they are going to sweep us, AND be a lot better than us. No way we sweep them at home, so this game is everything.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) This incident doesn't relate, at all, but I remember during the World Series when one of the Houston hitters (Mike Lamb?) was credited for a HR in Houston. However, upon viewing the instant replay, the ball was below the homerun barrier. Not much was made out of it; no controversy developed. Yet for everything that happened to us and umpires during the playoffs, the one play that directly resulted in runs crossing the board was ignored. I honestly believe Cabrera's ball was a home run as well, but I wouldn't use it as an excuse. We had other opportunities. I remember exactly that HR. I had arguements with people who said "The umps gave the Sox the WS". I tried point out that the 2 plays that went our way did not directly score runs, but the insuing plays did. That HR DIRECTLY led to runs. The ball was below that line by a foot, and ruled a HR. No media brought that one to light either. -
I REALLY hope Silverio is 17 years old. There is a big chance he is not, but even 19 would be great.

i dont blame the offense. 11 hits and 7 runs should win 80% of your games. Unfortunately, Contreras sucks ass.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:23 PM) It wasn't a home run, it's a really poor angle they have. I rewatched the normal angle and slowed it down, and it didn't hit near it. And you could see on that replay they showed that it didn't hit the foul pole anywhere. If it was even close, don't you think there would have been any sort of argument? Whole Sox bench has the same angle. That first angle is a bad angle, you cant see the ball flush with the pole. The 2nd angle is a great one because you can see it clearly knick off the pole. I dont see the confusion here. Now as to why no one on the bench argued it is because it took us slow-mo replay and a bunch of angles to conclude this. I doubt they all saw it well enough to argue with the umps. -

QUOTE (BobDylan @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 10:52 AM) I still don't understand why nobody has acknowledged that Cabrera's foul ball was a home run. People here are ignoring it. The media is ignoring it. The White Sox are ignoring it. They should have a 5-4 lead after Aramis' home run. Yeah really. The ONLY thing I have heard on it from any media is out of DJs mouth during todays pregame. He said "and whether Cabrera's HR actually hit the foul pole". Thats all thats been said. If this was switched teams, there would be these pictures running in newspapers of how the Sox "stole" a win. -

QUOTE (SoxPride56 @ Jun 21, 2008 -> 01:01 AM) FYI here is another view. I don't know what to think. Watching it live, I thought it was foul. I didn't even think twice about it until I saw this thread! http://img299.imageshack.us/my.php?image=c...reduced2st4.png There, I edited my post. I think its pretty conclusive. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 06:45 PM) There's another pole right behind the foul pole. It clearly hit that pole, and was correctly called foul. You mean this pole? Which in the video is located here... As you can see, the ball knicked off the foul pole. -
http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/media/play...cid=mlb&v=3 1:48 , 1-1 count, Cabrera batting. Ball hits foul pole, does it not?

King Richie the Second to start in Sox ad

My favorite part in all of them is after Swisher does the worm and Hawk says "Dye with the catch, Swisher with the worm, I CANT STAND IT." Haha. -
QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) Quentin is the only Sox worthy starter, A-Rod's getting hot again and Gavin won't be making it ahead of Lee, Marcum, Halladay, Santana, Kazmir, etc. I hope you mean, only one worthy of starting. I mean, Q, Crede, AJ, Danks, Linebrink, and Bobby are all worthy of making the team. They won't because of stupid rules, but they are all doing well enough to make it.

Who would you add to the 25 man roster

Owens would be the smartest, but Cook would be my favorite just so I can see this kid play. -

Is it just me, or do you think Buehrle should be throwing over right now? I mean, runners are moving, and Buehrle has great pickoff move. Why not pick em off? -
Sounds like what Konerko had, and we saw that didn't work out well for us. I am fine with Q getting 2-3 days off and letting Anderson play CF. We can't afford to have a bad Q.
-
Thank god Cook got called up. All I hear is that he is wayy to old for the minors. So then put him in the league closest to make him "not that old". How old is Cook anyway? 26? Dosen't seem that old to me if he can make the major league roster next season at 27. It would so sweet if we could trade Thome, Konerko, or Dye this offseason to make room for Cook to play CF if he were to continue his tear through the minors at AAA.
-
It would be nice to see if Poreda were to dominate, start in AAA next season, and make a September call up in 2009 with 2010 getting a roster spot.
-
So i guess GoBe had 2 HR today. Can anyone retrieve some video on these shots?

Trade Konerko, Trade for Griffey

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Don't forget that Paulie has that 5/10 status that he can veto any trade. And as a previous poster said, Votto in Cincy is holding up very nicely. I doubt that Cincy would ask for another 1b since their prize prospect is doing pretty good. If anything, Cincy would probably ask for front-line pitching and an OF prospect(s) for Griff....if he would also agree to this too. You and Bobdylan did the same thing SSI did. Re-read my post. It was not proposing Konerko to Cincy. -

QUOTE (stretchstretch @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 12:28 PM) No you don't seem to understand. The Yankee Red Sox rivalry is the most important rivalry in the history of planet earth, the lives of all americans and citizens of the world hang in the balance. And when they are not playing, the Mets and Phillies have a similar impact on our collective futures. I mean before 2004 the RedSox hadn't won the world series in 87 years but somehow At least with the Yankees, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Celtics, Lakers, etc there are larger than life winning traditions to back it up, but the RedSox we all got taken along for the ride, and the revenue they've gained from it has allowed them to be self fulfilling prophecy That's why I said "interleague". -
That was quick. Now get his ass into Great Falls.
