  1. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) yup we got a couple of em Couple? Someone else besides Jenks?
  2. Like I said from the beginning, Andruw Jones is one of my favorite players, and while still hoping to get Thome, Damon, and Dye for DH to be safe, I really think Jones can break out and hit 25 HR next season with at least a .250 average and playing some outfield for us to give Quentin a rest. And to prove I have been a Jones fan, there is this.... http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/2453/dscn3026.jpg
  3. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) I see your point, and I wouldn't start throwing things if it happened. Maybe it's the attitude that JD has been displaying for a while that makes me lower the dollar value. But half of the Damon offer would be $3 million. I was doubling what you suggested Dye was worth ($2-3M) to equal what we offered Damon ($6M).
  4. QUOTE (hogan873 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 05:32 PM) I have no problem with this except for the $. If he agrees to be the primary DH, sign him for $2 or $3 million. You don't think Dye is half as good as Damon? Dye has much better power than Damon, and power is what he lack and need out of our DH. Damon's speed would have been nice, but I think $4M is fair for Dye.
  5. Alright, plan C: Jermaine Dye. Seriously, I would hope he would sign a $4M deal with us to DH considering he is getting NO OFFERS from anyone else right now.
  6. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) after hearing him being compared to Manny by a knowledgeable Bobby Valentine i think you may be right. How so??? you cant win a game without driving in runs. Yeah, and you can't win a game without a pitcher recording a "win", but that does not mean "wins" is a good stat for determining how good a pitcher is. He is saying RBIs are an overrated individual stat, which I agree with.
  7. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 03:42 PM) I see him batting higher than .300; his eye is too good and he can put any outside pitch down the line. He's going to become one of the toughest outs in the league. I see his prime years at .350 with 200+ hits, 50+ 2Bs, 30+ HRs, 100+ RBI and more walks than strikeouts. I think he's Jeter but better. That's an insane year, and likely an MVP season.....I think you need to tune that back a bit. .350 average? I am hoping for a .315-.320 average.
  8. QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 01:53 PM) Wow, they really do love Gordon Beckham. They picked him over Kinsler, Pedroia, and Utley though? Hmm... Well Kinsler is 27, Pedroia is 26, and Utley is 31. It is assumed they should be hitting their prime right now, and will start their decline in 3-4 years. While Becks is 23 which means he probably won't start to decline for another 7-8 years, meaning he will get the better part of the next decade. These guys are all better now, but they are almost in between decades in terms of peeking.
  9. http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=7169633 They project the best players of the next decade..... C: Mauer 1B: Fielder 2B: Beckham (Will be in H.O.F) SS: H. Ramirez 3B: Longoria LF: Braun CF: J. Upton RF: Heyward RHP: F. Hernandez LHP: Lester They project him at about 19 HR a year, and 93 RBI. Seems like a TON of RBI for only 19 HR, I suspect he hits around 25 if he is putting up 90+ RBI. But regardless, it's nice to see Becks getting some love.
  10. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Feb 20, 2010 -> 02:00 AM) Funny thing is.. Thome is actually FASTER than Konerko. Konerko is one of the top 3 slowest guys in the game right now. (not to mention one of the worst rally killers of the last 50 years, if I remember correctly) If it wasn't for 2005, class act/leader, and what he's meant to our sox org. since he's dawned the uniform, I probably would hate the guy. I'm sure most of us will be happy to see only he will probably struggle on scoring from 2nd to home or 1st to 3rd.. maybe A.J. (though he's probably the best or second best baserunner [next to Teahen] on the team) but thats about it. The slowest Konerko can be in the league is 4th slowest. The 3 Molina brothers lock down the bottom 3 spots. They have stronger arms than they do legs.
  11. According to some people at my school, we have a chance to break into the top 20, maybe even top 10 nationally. Then again I go to a D-2 school.
  12. If it was about 3 hours later I would be awake for it....hmmm....maybe it will be recorded for their website, or someone who is waking up for it can record it using Real Player and upload it.....
  13. I would rather have Ryan Sweeney back over Rowand. The love for Rowand confuses me.
  14. Kenny will let the Tigers get Damon, and then instead he will trade for the Diamondbacks CF Gerardo Parra. Wishful thinking.
  15. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 04:19 PM) Article mentions Selig's opposition to charging extra for games that do not include the Cubs. Now that makes more sense. Surcharge for games versus the Cubs but not between other teams. Sounds like a reasonable compromise to me. Yeah, I agree. Games vs. The Cubs sounds fair to up the charge, but not a game vs. 2 non-Cubs teams.
  16. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) I might have to change my pick to Vazquez, didn't even think SP's. You didn't even read the OP? I picked Vazquez.
  17. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 17, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) I think it's a bit of a confusing question Would I want the magglio of what...06 07 08? hell yeah, Do I want the magglio of 10? Not so much. If we are taking a players best year and putting it on that team, that's one thing, I thought we are adding a player we want on our team today that we lost. In that case, Vazquez. The rotation would be ridiculous and our bullpen would be the least used. I mean current players in their current skillset. Otherwise I would have definitely picked 2006 Joe Crede.
  18. Great call on Carlos Lee, I totally forgot about him. However, Lee was off the team by the end of 2004, which was over 5 years ago.
  19. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 10:54 PM) It doesnt sound like you're talking about reversing-trades, but just taking back one guy. So if that's the case, Chris Carter Right, just simply adding a lost player back on. I see where you are going with Chris Carter, but I was aiming more towards adding to the current team, unless you are inferring that Carter would be a starter for us in 2010.
  20. If you could have 1 player back on the roster that we lost via trade/FA in the past 5 years, who would it be? Contract not an issue. For me, I would say I would like Javier Vazquez back. I can't even imagine how filthy our rotation would be if we have Peavy, Buehrle, Vazquez, Danks, and Floyd with Sweaty Freddy and Hudson as our back-ups. We already have a top 3 rotation in baseball, but this would give us the obvious #1. The only thing about that is Vazquez is probably just a product of the NL and will not have close to the same year he did in '09, but even if AL self would make an excellent 3rd starter. My 2nd choice was CF Chris Young of the Diamondbacks. Interesting enough, he was the one traded for Javy Vazquez when we got him from AZ a few years ago. Chris Young had an awful 2009, that is why I didn't choose him, but he has great skills and can be a 5-tool player if he can get back to where he was in 2008. Young would take CF with Rios moving to RF, Pierre in LF, and Quentin as the DH.
  21. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 16, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) I hope so. My ancient Zune has FM. I hope so. My sexy new Zune HD has FM.
  22. Dayan Viciedo - Hot Fire (Chappelle show reference to Dylan)
  23. Yes, as a baseball fan I want to see Mauer stay, but as a fan of an AL Central team, I would love for him to change divisions.
  24. #2 scares the hell out of me. #1 would almost surely mean be win the divison, and if they both happen, we could be a very good team.
