QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:30 PM) I feel they will NEVER see .500 again in 2011 let alone contend. They might reach .500, or even over. 1st place at any point? No f***ing way.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) So, no trades. This team sucks as it is. What a waste of a season. I'm not going to say it was wrong to not make moves because we don't what was offered. But it is a waste of a season. We can only hope the Kenny/Ozzie thing will come to an end and Hahn can get a plan we can support going forward.

Which players will be traded before Sunday at 4 pm
flavum replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
So nothing. Gotta pretend they're still in it. After all, 14 years later people still talk about the White Flag trade even though that team had no chance of winning the division just like this one. 8.5 weeks to go. -
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) Aramis for Sale. Didn't even flinch.
-
Two years ago right now...Peavy. 32 games, 31 starts. So he's only been there half the time. 193 innings, 4.51 ERA. Meh.
-
Uhhh...change it to Pittsburgh.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) What prospects were discussed? I had it on but was attending to other things, missed some Rozner asked about Dylan Axelrod. They talked about the Sox philosphy of getting players from anywhere. Mentioned Spencer Arroyo in that category. It was mostly De Aza and Viciedo talk. I wish they would have asked about Tyler Kuhn.

Buddy Bell is on the Score. He said Viciedo is doing ok....may get an at bat today, but if not, probably will play Tuesday.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 09:23 AM) Antone know when the statue will be unveiled? I want to make sure I am in the park. 12:20

Indians get a minor league outfielder. Just no room for Ocab in Cleveland. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=neal--001tho

Now that's hysterical. He's going to the playoffs again.

Putting the Rios contract disaster into context...
flavum replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I wish Reinsdorf was the type of owner that would just dump this guy, or authorize picking up 75% of the rest of his contract just to get him out of here. It would really suck if we have to watch this guy 3 more years, and if Dunn is the same Dunn at the same time....I don't even want to think about it. -
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Did he say for what team??? The Brewers, naturally.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:19 PM) Actually I think its the exact opposite. Basketball and football are far less fluky. The best team usually wins. In baseball with a pitcher, you basically have a different team every day. I've been very frustrated by the Sox this season, but giving up while 3 games behind the Detroit Tigers is cowardly. As a PR and business move, you're right. It's probably a bad move if they decided to trade a starting pitcher, Quentin, and Thornton in the next 18 hours. That said, I know how this movie ends. It ain't happening this season. --- Oh great, Ozzie announced Rios will start tomorrow.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:15 PM) ok. They should dump everyone and suck like the Pirates for 20 years. Yeah, that's exactly what I said.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) All the guys everyone wants traded for prospects can be traded for prospects this winter. If they can make better deals now, they should do it. This team isn't going to pass the Tigers.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:29 PM) Give me some of what you are smokin' on. I wish. Would you settle for Nova, Betances, and Romine? I mean, don't the Yankees need to make a deal for a starter? That playoff rotation looks like s***.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) Now the Indians are adding Ludwick, too??? Hmmm. Thornton/Floyd and/or Danks/Quentin/Ohman....get what you can for them KW. If they can make good deals, yes. Not just whatever they can get. I'm still holding out hope the Yankees make an overwhelming offer for Danks. Give me your Montero. Give me your Betances. Give me your Banuelos.
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 04:45 PM) Wow, that's a lot for a reliever... Rangers get $2 mill too.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 04:36 PM) He hits left handed. Left handed pitcher on the mound. Left handed batters are not allowed to face left handed pitchers. Rules are rules. What do you expect, a manager to use his own judgment? His .304 average vs lefties in AAA...not good enough. Have a seat, De Aza.
-
Rangers get Koji Uehara for Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter

QUOTE (Sockin @ Jul 30, 2011 -> 03:53 PM) @whitesox Chicago White Sox Williams: Chances of any deal "very unlikely," saying potential deals all would hurt club's chances to win division. #WhiteSox That's fine. Hope for the best, but I expect the Tigers to win 86-88 games, and the Sox to win 83-85 games. They'll sell the hype of a pennant race and get a few extra tickets sold, get close and come up short. And then let the Kenny/Ozzie offseason drama commence.
