Peavy should do what he wants, but I hope he just shuts it down and starts fresh next year. I'd rather see Torres and Hudson get some major league starts. I'd like to see a six-man rotation with Buehrle, Torres, Hudson, Garcia, Floyd, and Danks getting four starts each over the last 24 games.

If Hudson gets called up, I hope it's just to get a few innings here and there the rest of the way. He's approaching 160 innings, and that's pretty standard for a minor leaguer, especially in his first full year.

If Thome comes back here next season, Dye and Konerko better be gone. It's time to turn over the roster as much as possible, when it comes to the over-30 crowd.

Brandon Allen is playing in the AFL too, so Viciedo is a possible call up. I don't think he will, but it is possible.

I'm willing to declare the Sox dead. If Peavy can come back and get a few starts, fine. But they shouldn't bring him back any sooner than he wants. It's not worth it at this point. Just bring Torres back for a few starts and Peavy for a few starts, and Garcia can get his 5-6 starts, and then the season will finally be over.

Cowley, like others, said he's going to the bullpen. Peavy will talk to Cooper tomorrow, and if he feels good, he'll start Saturday in New York.

He's going to the pen. I wonder if Peavy will have a change of heart after tonight. He could be starting Saturday.

I really would only give Hudson two starts--Saturday in NY and then the Wrigley game. If he does ok, keep him going. If Garcia does well the next two starts, then I would give him the 5th starter spot after Peavy comes back. I think they'll only need a 5th starter 3 games after Peavy comes back (hopefully Sep. 4-7).

Even if it isn't Hudson, I wonder if they would consider John Ely. He pitched tonight too, so he would be on track for Saturday.

I'd still rather have Hudson pitch Saturday in Yankee Stadium than Contreras. I'll take my chances.
