SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY THREE
QUOTE (Socal Cid @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 01:04 PM) Who is next? Hawk Harelson III, or maybe Gene Honda, Jr. The Sox have to lead the league in nepotism when it comes to the draft. They all do it.

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY THREE
Just happened to notice the Mariners drafted Jorden Merry in the 40th round. I guess he should have signed with the Sox last year.

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY THREE
Isn't it pretty pointless following rounds 31-50? It seems like these guys don't even sign anymore. Without the "draft and follow" option anymore, I'm surprised the draft is this long anymore.

SOXTALK DRAFT THREAD, DAY TWO

Aaron Poreda called up
QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 10:36 AM) Joe Cowley predicting a firesale coming. Could be, but I think Beckham and Poreda are up because Kenny thinks they're ready now, and just as good as the other options-Josh Fields and probably Bartolo Colon. If the Sox aren't at .500 by the end of the month, I think it's over. The second half schedule is tougher than the first half, so it's going to be a lot tougher to be a second half team. If they can't be a .500 team by the break, then shut it down and see what you can get for Jenks, Dye and Dotel. I'm sure Thome and Konerko will be out there, but obviously they'll be tougher to move.

When should Greg Walker be fired?
Ozzie is saying the players are at bat playing tight. I think that's a direct reflection of their hitting coaches' type A personality. Hitting coaches get fired all the time whether they deserve it or not. He needs to go, if nothing for a change.

Gordon Beckham Called Up
Found this video they shot at his little league field. Kind of cool to see where people come from. Some funny stuff with the kids showing them how to hotdog it at shortstop. http://www.truveo.com/Gordon-Beckham-2/id/1733800139

Chicago Slayer vs. Oakland Athletic 6/4 Thread-1:05pm-CSN
QUOTE (smalls2598 @ Jun 4, 2009 -> 09:48 AM) So are we guessing Beckham will be #6? Or did they announce something yet? He's wearing 15.
-
Gordon Beckham Called Up
He may be taking Betemit's 15. 1+5=6 Confirmed by the Score. I wouldn't run out and get a jersey yet. Thomas started with 15 too.

Gordon Beckham Called Up
I agree him wearing #1 would look silly. Give the kid 6. Six is good. I like six.

Gordon Beckham Called Up

Gordon Beckham Called Up
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:33 PM) Let's start working on something better. I think we can manage. I'll be calling him Beck or Gordo. By the way, give the kid number 6. Enough of the Charlie Lau thing.
