It’s not just an anti-Cubs thing. Because of money, there are too many players that get through. I just think being able to add from outside your organization with about 30 games left is pushing it. Make the deadline with 45-50 games left, and after that it’s done.

Also would like to point out the trade deadline needs to get its shit together. Waiver deals need to be eliminated. One trade deadline- always a Wednesday night with 7.5 weeks left in the season. After that, you’re on your own.

Normally, I’d say a pitcher that just had 13 starts in high-A and 10 starts in AA would start the next season in AA. But I think Cease might be above that. He’s probably looking at 27 starts and 160 innings next year. I’d go AAA to start, and bring him up when he proves he’s ready.

I’d put Jimenez in the Longoria category of locking him up pretty much right away if he’s willing. He’s not without risk because of knees and you just never know what might happen, but the talent is clearly there. He’s one of the best offensive players on the planet right now. The Sox are probably trying to make his dream come true, but if he isn’t signing, he has to wait because that’s the game right now.
