  1. I had to look...they still have the Sox and Tigers both going 68-94. https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?...ition=Standings G The Sox won't be a .500 team...don't get me wrong. Barring huge injuries, they will win over 70, and the Tigers are losing over 100.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 2, 2018 -> 10:56 AM) A nine or ten game road trip is pretty standard at different times of year. If it starts the year, it doesn't change that they can have a nine or ten game homestand during the middle of the year to make up for it. Ok, I'll extend it...March 29 or April 9th? Bad weather can happen either time. And teams generally wouldn't want a three city trip to start either. The Cubs are doing it this year, but there's a chance they requested it because of the park renovations. The knee-jerk reaction to start the season in warm cities and domes isn't practical.
  3. Unless teams want to start the season with a two week road trip, there really isn't much they can do about weather problems...and that's not going to happen. The more important thing to do is schedule teams in the division as much as possible early in the season so there are more opportunities to make up the games. Now, there's always a minimum of three non-division series going on, so those should be in warm places or domes. The Twins open Thursday with the Mariners...that's not an ideal opponent for scheduling purposes. But again, there's not a lot they can do. March 29/April 5th? They both can have decent weather or winter weather.
  4. I’d like to propose a trade with the Cubs... Willson Contreras trades an L in his name to Welington Castillo, so he’d actually be Wellington.
  5. April 28th...so if Kopech makes four dominant starts for Charlotte...
  6. Toronto series: Lopez vs Jaime Garcia Gonzalez vs JA Happ Fulmer vs Aaron Sanchez Looks like Jordan Zimmermann vs James Shields for the home opener
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 1, 2018 -> 10:14 AM) What are the chances they skip Fulmer? They aren't. Van Schouwen tweeted.
  8. Well, I'm not getting my wish. Lopez, Gonzalez, Fulmer in Toronto. Shields is getting the home opener. Sorry guys.
  9. Also... Sweep!
  10. Please, please, please...put Fulmer in the bullpen as a long reliever, and not start him until April 11.
  11. April 28. Day/Night doubleheader.
  12. After three days, I think we have our five postseason teams in the AL. http://www.espn.com/mlb/standings/_/group/league
  13. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 10:16 PM) Danny Hayes was released from Charlotte. Makes sense given his age and the logjam of bats that need playing time there. Twins gotta pick him up, right?
  14. I’m rooting for Gabe Kapler to fail in Philadelphia, and so far he’s pulled Nola after 68 pitches in a shutout and called to the bullpen with nobody warming up.
  15. I just hope when he does start playing, it’s a full season of ABs in the minors. Let him dominate down there.
  16. Nice game. Giolito settled down-probably amped up and not used to pitching in the 40s. Welington(one l) came through. Moncada is a stud. Renteria is proving Ventura’s years here were a complete waste.
  17. Same lineup https://mobile.twitter.com/CST_soxvan/statu...156597937889280
  18. Hahn went pretty in depth on the Tatis trade this morning. Give it a listen when it's up. http://podbay.fm/show/398083094
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Mar 31, 2018 -> 09:55 AM) I don’t understand playing weekend night games for north teams in April. Agreed, I mean it's still March for crying out loud. It's stupid not to maximize the warmest part of the day, and it rains a lot this time of year....give yourself more time to get the game in.
  20. Going for the 2-game sweep. Doubt they play Sunday. Sox go back to KC at the end of April and September. And yes, skip Fulmer until the Rays series.
  21. Sox 1-0 Cle 0-1 Det 0-1 KC 0-1 Min 0-1 We don’t have to better. We just have to be as good the last 161.
  22. Tigers thought they won a walk off, but the call at the plate was reversed. Gardenhire ejected in his first game. Crazy reversal.
  23. Tigers score 4 in the 9th to tie the Pirates. Rivero walked a bunch. Don’t the Pirates know the Sox have 1st place alone riding on this?
  24. Reality check for the day... When two kinda crappy teams play each other, one of them has to win. Last year, the Sox went 13-25 vs the Indians and Twins and 10-24 against other playoff teams... 23-49 in those 72 games, and 44-46 in the other 90. This year, they have 64 games against last year’s postseason teams. Let’s see if there is an improvement.
  25. Kluber down early Sox going wire-to-wire!
