  1. Before I read this, I wrote down my own prediction. It was the same. https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-have-ver...-st/c-266148154
  2. QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 01:07 PM) ok................but why? Maybe they like him. They really don’t have a ton of middle infield depth for spring training games. I’m sure he and Rondon will be getting decent playing time after the 5th/6th innings.
  3. Sox invite infielder Jake Elmore.
  4. I don't really believe in spring training competition anymore. They start out with a 25-man roster, and if they stay healthy, that's who they go with. Just a guess, if healthy- L- Avilan, Cedeno R- Farquhar, Infante, Minaya, Jones, Soria Gomez or Rondon as the 8th guy. Somebody won't be ready to go on Opening Day though, and they'll end up using around 30 pitchers this season. Also, I don't think Germen got a big league camp invite.
  5. QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 12:43 PM) Melky reunion? Man I hope not. Hopefully Welington Castillo wearing 53 means they closed the book on that already.
  6. QUOTE (Username @ Feb 1, 2018 -> 12:36 PM) White Sox supposedly in the market for a DH, according to Heyman. No names from what I can tell. Kemp would be a nice pickup at the right price.
  7. Including Rodon, 34 pitchers in big league camp.
  8. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 04:32 PM) Would you vote for David Ortiz? In 2022, yes.
  9. QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 31, 2018 -> 11:16 AM) Hard to believe that his arm was only rated 5/7. He was only 18 then, he improved. Kinda like Micker Adolfo. He’s 21 now, and we’re only now hearing how great his throwing arm is. Probably always above average, but getting better.
  10. Lefty Xavier Cedeno is invited to big league camp. He’ll make 1.05 mil if he makes the team, per Nightengale
  11. Good move. Pisses me off when I see a baby over the dugout. Completely irresponsible, but at least they can’t get hit by a ball or bat now.
  12. Nice haul for Miami. Pressure is on for the Brewers to do anything to compete for a World Series this year.
  13. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 03:35 PM) Just curious, if you think Helton has a strong case then why not also consider Walker? He was better than Helton. I like the 10 yr peak of Helton’s career, where he played consistently. Walker’s incomplete seasons bother me. And yes, I get he’s better, but when you’re not on the field, you’re not helping the team. That’s also what bothers me about Rolen, but being a 3b, I’m starting to realize he’s one of the best 3b of his era- and top 10-15 of all time.
  14. Next year’s ballot, I would instantly pick Bonds, Clemens, Schilling, Mussina, Rivera, and Halladay. I’ve always been a McGriff guy, and even though I’ve never been an Edgar guy, I’d vote for both in the last year. Final two picks, I might be coming around on Rolen and Kent, but Helton has a strong case.
  15. QUOTE (ptatc @ Jan 25, 2018 -> 02:07 PM) I think his time was just too short. He only pitched over 160 innings or so for 5 seasons. He was only a full time starter for 8 seasons. As time goes on, the Hall will be more about peak than longevity. An argument can be made Santana deserved the Cy in 2005, and if he had 3 straight Cy’s would he still be on the ballot? Yes.
  16. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jan 24, 2018 -> 08:53 PM) Johan Santana was the best pitcher in the game for a 5 to 7-year period. I think he's a Hall of Famer and it's criminal that he's off the ballot already. I can’t argue with him getting less than 5 percent based on the rest of the ballot and who is still on there, but the system should change in some way to give guys a longer look. As time goes on, players that debuted after 1997 will be evaluated much differently than the previous 15 years, so Santana may have been an oversight.
  17. Good class this year. Johan fell off the ballot. Andruw got 7.3. Rivera, Halladay, Helton, Pettitte, Berkman, Oswalt, and Tejada on the 2019 ballot.
  18. 24 hours until the announcement. Hoffman 78.4 Martinez 77.1 Hoffman may go higher; Edgar is slipping the other way.
  19. First spring training game a month from today. https://mobile.twitter.com/ChrisKuc/status/...7958534/photo/1
  20. Also Danny Hayes was invited last year but not this year. Perhaps he’s following the other Dan Hayes.
  21. Two guys invited last year, but not this year- Courtney Hawkins and Spencer Adams. Adams not invited is interesting.
  22. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 11:54 AM) Are Burr and Viera invited? Vieira is on the 40-man http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/roster/40-man/
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 22, 2018 -> 11:46 AM) TJ House... I don't remember seeing that signing. Is that new? Last month. He and another lefty got signed. Other dude (Matt Tomshaw) wasn't invited.
