  1. Not sure what to believe when it comes to PEDs, but I hope with the CBA expiring next December they get even tougher with penalties. First offense, one year. Second offense, lifetime ban.
  2. Dave Henderson, 57, cardiac arrest. Had some memorable moments, especially in the 1986 postseason.
  3. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Dec 26, 2015 -> 12:03 PM) Raines better get in. He has just this year and next left on the ballot. There's a good chance he is going to get f***ed by the new ten year rule. Hopefully he gets in over the next two years, but I have a feeling down the road, they'll come up with other ways to get in the Hall besides a 16-person committee.
  4. The votes are in, and will be announced on Jan 6th at 5pm. So far 103 voters have made their votes public, which is about 23% of the total. Griffey - 100% Piazza - 90.3% Bagwell - 84.5% Raines - 81.6% I'm starting not to really care anymore, but my ballot would be: Griffey, Piazza, Bagwell, Bonds, Clemens, Mussina, Schilling, Raines, McGriff, and Trammell I'm not a Hoffman guy at all, and every one else on the ballot falls short for me too. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=F...AC7uZHAmcVGWgwE
  5. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:55 PM) You could start a poll for "the worst part of Rogers" He really just goes with his own ideas on things, which are mostly like anyone can do on a message board. It's not based on facts or what he's been told by somebody in the organization, so there's no real point.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:39 PM) Let us know what he says! Basically just that. Moving Robertson to free money for a free agent because LaRoche is unmovable. To me, if the Sox want to be a good team in 2016, they just need to keep adding. Right now, they aren't a playoff team. Hopefully LaRoche bounces back to respectability, but if the Sox are 25-35 after 60 games, and he sucks, he'll be released, Ventura will be gone, and we'll put another losing White Sox season in the books.
  7. The final game of 1980. Harry and Jimmy said stuff you couldn't even imagine nowadays. Max Patkin doing his schtick in the 1st base coaching box while the game is going on...unbelievable. Obviously that wouldn't fly these days.

    2015 TV Thread

QUOTE (shysocks @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 12:19 PM) Just watched the whole thing over the last 18 hours or so and I don't know what to do with myself. It's incredibly upsetting. On episode 4...those Avery's are mental giants, huh?
  9. Phil Rogers on ESPN1000 in a minute...I'm sure he'll try to get Robertson traded again. Ha.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 24, 2015 -> 10:24 AM) FWIW, this is what Dan Hayes said about 45 minutes ago on Twitter regarding the outfielder situation. Take it as you wish. @The_Xsport I never said it doesn't make sense. They'd be much better off. I don't think they're going to do it though. My guess is 1/2 @The_Xsport they want to start out w/ current group going every day & if it isn't working they'll try to add a bat after season begins. 2/2 Yeah, I don't believe that's going on for a second. There are a bunch of teams talking to Gordon, Upton, Cespedes, and a few guys just under that level. The Sox are going to come away with somebody, and Avisail Garcia will probably be traded in the next six weeks.
  11. Not that Jerry Sands is much to get excited about, but I do wonder if they have an Avisail Garcia trade already locked and loaded with a team for if/when they sign a higher profile free agent.
  12. Keeping an eye on this guy's twitter... https://twitter.com/royalsclubhouse Heyman is good at what he does, but who the hell knows anymore? This free agent season has been annoying as hell.
  13. Added to 40-man. Setting up that next move...
  14. Some 1990 videos recently added, including the final Comiskey Park game. The Robin Ventura/Barry Jones commercial is pretty solid. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheClassicSports/videos This site also has a couple new Sox videos... https://www.youtube.com/user/ClassicMLB11/videos
  15. Chuck is probably saying that based on the Gordon possibility. Prediction: Gordon signs with the Royals before Friday. Upton signs with the Sox before Jan. 1.
  16. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 22, 2015 -> 11:27 AM) Seems to be heating up. I like it. Hope we get one of these guys soon. I kinda feel like Gordon/Royals and Davis/Orioles is holding everything else up. Once Gordon signs back with the Royals, other teams will get more aggressive with targets.
  17. Sounds like this Royals person is somewhat connected. I'll believe Gordon to the Sox when I see it, but it's been obvious the Sox will land somebody. Just have to be patient, I guess.

  19. The whole free agent market this year is bizarre as far as the lack of signings by now. Ken Rosenthal had a pretty good article on the reasons why and how they could fix some of it. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/chris-d...ot-stove-122015 Hopefully some stuff goes down the next couple days. Usually players like to have it off their minds by Christmas, but this year it's going to take a lot longer apparently.
  20. Soxfest is soon enough. I'm sure they'll get the new guys there.
  21. The way front offices are structured these days, it's hard to lay blame or give praise (overly) to any one individual. It's a really good way to manage up to ownership too. Every move is vetted with analytics and scrutinized by many people before a move is made. The days of two grey-haired GMs making a deal based on gut feelings and last year's pitcher's win total are over, which is fine. I do know this about the Sox...they've tried to go "all-in", and failed to make the playoffs. They're in a constant "win now" mode, but I'll acknowledge 2014 they probably knew that was a losing season---every other year from 2009 on, they've failed to make the playoffs. Good for them having some team-friendly contracts, but without getting to the playoffs over the Sale/Abreu contracts in the next few years, it would be a complete failure by the Sox front office, and I hope they would acknowledge that themselves.
  22. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 01:28 PM) Perhaps. I'd be fine giving Avi another chance, just in a limited role unless he earns more or in case of an injury. Think about...under current roster construction, after Avi and Shuck...next man up is Jerry Hairston or Jason Coats. Avi needs to be retained, but I'd be fine with him starting in AAA. Scott
  23. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 18, 2015 -> 11:10 AM) He hurt his butt, remember? Got it. I was thinking back, but now I recall that.
  24. Gut feeling at some point between now and next Thursday, Upton signs with the Sox for five years, with an opt-out after two or three. BTW, these opt-outs are kinda bugging some people...and I get it.
