QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) #10 has as much experience above Rookie ball as Adolfo. Ha, I was already editing.
-
I'm glad Adolfo isn't on the list. Players shouldn't be on lists unless they've played in college or full season minor league ball. Prove you're a baseball player first, and don't just look good in a uniform. Same for Zangari. I've seen high school kids do really well in Rookie ball, they go to low-A, and are never heard from again.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Jan 4, 2016 -> 09:00 AM) For everyone that bashes our system, I think that's a pretty nice top 10. I hope that's a true statement, but look at this list 5 years from now, and see if you would say the same thing. Jacob May almost 24, and has fewer than 100 games at AA, with a .663 OPS. He still has time, but I agree that #5 is a stretch.

Murray Chass with one vote - Griffey. Way to make it about yourself again, dickhead.

Before Wednesday would be nice. Gotta figure Wednesday and Thursday will be dominated by Hall of Fame talk, and if Raines gets in, the Sox will want to give him a lot of attention since the Expos aren't there anymore. But we've waited this long. What's another couple weeks, amirite?
-
Raines is hanging in there, and they did take away votes from a lot of writers who don't cover baseball anymore, so maybe Rock has a shot. 138 public of the approximately 450 votes: Griffey - 100.0 Piazza - 88.4 Bagwell - 82.6 Raines - 80.4

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 1, 2016 -> 02:19 PM) In other words they are not a serious contender for either ones services. I don't take it that way. It's all part of a "s*** or get off the pot" campaign- a message from the Sox to the agents and players.

Interesting Nightengale is tweeting about this today. Maybe they're trying to force the issue and get something done this weekend. We'll see.

At the very least, I hope they get new trials. Personally, I think if Steven did it, he would have eventually admitted it to his family and not let Brendan also take the fall. It's a sickening story, with sickening people in positions of power. What bothers me the most is the lack of investigating basically anyone else, either on the Avery compound or people in Teresa's life. And then there is the possibility that Lenk and Colborn planned the whole thing for months, and executed it. Seeing Colborn walk both of them chained up after convictions seemed like spiking the football. Sick.

https://twitter.com/MeridianoTV/status/682583109985038337 Some tweets saying Carlos Sanchez will not be with his winter league team's postseason. Can't quite tell if the White Sox pulled the plug, or what...looks like they want him to leave so he can work on SS more before spring training. https://twitter.com/Vboccone/status/682586292656467969

When it comes to PEDs, I draw the line at the Mitchell Report. Before that, MLB practically wanted players to take PEDs. I don't condone them, but it was going to happen without a real testing program and putting a stigma on taking them. After the Mitchell Report, there should be Zero Tolerance...just short of a lifetime ban. The party should be over as much as possible. So for Bonds and Clemens, yeah, I'd hold my nose and vote for them. Guys like Sosa and McGwire, I can use my common sense and say they wouldn't have Hall-like numbers without PEDs. Obviously there are tougher calls since we don't know one way or the other (Piazza and Bagwell), but the Steroid Era existed, and they might as well put the best-of-the-best from that era in, and move on.

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Isn't Merkin really just a PR guy? I don't think he's aloud to share a personal opinion/thought. Just speak on behalf of the team. Or allowed. I generally ignore Hayes and Merkin's "opinions" on things. They're fed what to say and not say. At this point, I'm perfectly fine waiting for the White Sox to tweet that they've signed X to a contract.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 30, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) What benefit do the players get from telling a bidder they are out? I think Gordon and Davis both want to go back to their 2015 teams. They want to hear an offer from those teams so they can stay there. But at some point, if they don't get a best and final offer compared to what their other offers are, then they'll have to exclude them. I don't think Cesepdes or Upton sign anywhere until the Royals and Orioles know what they're up against.
-
I keep going back to Gordon and Davis going back to their 2015 teams...until both of those guys tell the Royals and Orioles they aren't coming back, nothing else will happen. Hopefully they've set some artificial deadline (like January 1st) to get something done. At some point, they have to move on and sign elsewhere. Maybe it drags to about January 15th, but those are the guys that have to fall first...or at least be excluded from going back.

Raines has fallen under 80%, with about 27% of the ballots made public. https://onedrive.live.com/view.aspx?resid=F...AC7uZHAmcVGWgwE Looking like Griffey and Piazza will get in, with Bagwell on the cusp. Unfortunately, I think Raines will go backwards from here and fall short.

Nothing is happening until next week, and the Sox aren't getting Cesepdes. There.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:47 PM) Source: Adam LaRoche agrees to give back $8 million of his 2016 salary so that the team can sign Cespedes. Then shoots a Bison.
-
Gordon would excite me more, but not going to complain if it's Cespedes.
-
Sources: Sticking point may be a No Golf on game day clause. See, I can do it too.
-
Don't you think if something was on the goal line, Ken Rosenthal or Bob Nightengale would have it by now? Be patient. It's not like Cespedes is a once in a generation talent anyway.
-
Want to see Ed Farmer blow a save? Sure you do. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AP2c8kUQzPE Sox won the next inning. Baines with a double. Bernazard RBI. Hickey save.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) It's terrifying to me that Cespedes might end up on the Sox. Dude has regret written all over him. I can't get over him standing prone in LF while an inside-the-park homerun was going on. He's got power, and we'll take it. But he seems like the type that would be part of the problem if things go bad quick. Hope I'm wrong, but I get the concern.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 29, 2015 -> 09:06 AM) Holiday was calm, now here comes the storm. I think the storm is Jan 4 to 14.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 28, 2015 -> 11:39 AM) Assuming he or Gray are not injured. Thanks, Einstein. Point is, they have time to make another move or two. The impatience here is almost comical.
