QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 06:22 PM) Carlos Sanchez might be on the juice. Just hit another dinger. You sure that wasn't Phegley? Unless the boxscore is way behind. Semien out of the game. Hit in the ankle area.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 05:46 PM) So what time is this thing, is it going to be evening again? Please let it be later there's already going to be a lot of stuff that won't get done as it is, it's like a giant trade rumor day, f***, I'll try to stay away from the interenet it's like Xmas morning over here thinking about all this stuff. Can't wait. Draft starts at 6 central. I would assume they do some intros and the Astros will be on the clock by 6:10, and the Sox will pick around 6:20-6:25.

Hawkins has now played 162 regular season games for Winston-Salem. .204/.280/.421/.701 65 XBH Struck out 33% of the time. He's trending in the right direction though.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 01:12 PM) Agreed. It's like Sale can only get credit for things he has DONE, as if each pitch is his last. For all the dumb predictions analysts make I can't believe they are all so hiveminded that they add on these qualifications on Sale's greatness only being relative to his injury risk. I see it both ways with Sale. The way for him to get full credit as baseball's best pitcher, he's going to need to string 4-5 seasons of 32 or 33 starts. If he misses a month here and a month there with that body and delivery, it's only natural for people to think he's going to break down--which could happen.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 08:15 AM) I don't see how you can make that judgment with this. The 30+ wins through 54 were 7 last year, and 4 this year. And since game 54, the Yankees and Angels are both 0-3. http://espn.go.com/mlb/standings/_/type/wild-card/group/5 The #1 wildcard is on pace for 85 wins. The #2 wildcard is on pace for 84 wins. Every team is flawed. Pitching injuries are all over the place. The Astros aren't as bad as they were last year, so that may not help the Angels as much if the A's run away with it. I'll be shocked if the #2 Wildcard has more than 87 wins.

6/18-- Wednesday day game vs Tim Hudson. Looks like Cain/Rienzo the night before.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 10:30 AM) I think the trade deadline should be August 31st. I picked 6.5 weeks left, because that's generally going to leave 25% of the season left. If it's 25-30 games left, it seems a little too rent-a-player, although the waiver deadline is August 31 now.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 12:29 AM) But we are only 1 game back from a wildcard Rick Hahn has said in the past that he likes to evaluate after 60 games, which is fine. But in 2014, extend that now to 100 games. There are so many teams in "the blob". Every team is a 6-7 game winning streak from opening up a WC lead, or a 6-7 game losing streak from falling too far back. But we've seen the Red Sox lose 10 in a row, and then bounce right back too. There's a good chance that the trade deadline will be a huge snoozefest, which it usually is anyway. If it were up to me, the trade deadline would be the Wednesday with 6.5 weeks left in the season. Give teams a little more time to figure out what to do.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 4, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) No. He. Isn't. He has his moments. The range is good, and the arm is strong. What do the metrics say, because I'm just going off what I've watched?

I've changed my tune on Kolek. Take the upside and hope. If he needs TJS in a year, well, join the club. Take the kid, and draft a college pitcher at 44.

Beckham got called up 5 years ago today. He's averaged 135 games every 365 days. .251/.314/.383/.698 OPS+: 86 If you would have known these numbers five years ago this morning, it would have been disappointing and surprising that he was still here for five years. But he is above average defensively and the Sox infield depth has been bad up until recently.

Noesi 3.92 ERA in a Sox uniform.

This is a must-win game at this point. Downs better not f*** this game up.

Get that man a win!

Gary Thorne is the best. Sox had him in the late-80's.

A 3-spot would be nice here.

QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 10:07 PM) 1-2-3 inning would be great Mm hmm

How the AL looks different after 54 compared to last year: Bold teams played more than 162 games. 2013 Wins-- 2014 Wins Tex 34 - Oak 32 Bos 32 - Tor 32 NY 31 - Det 31 Oak 31 - LAA 30 Bal 30 - NY 29 TB 30 - Tex 28 Det 30 - Bal 27 Cle 29 - Chi 27 LAA 25 - KC 26 Min 25 - Sea 26 Chi 24 - Min 26 KC 23 - Bos 25 Sea 23 - Cle 24 Tor 23 - TB 23 Hou 17 - Hou 22 Rays and Rangers tied for the 2nd wildcard at 91-71 last year. Look for that number to be 4 or 5 games lower this year.

Anderson and Danish- nice! Don't like to see Thompson came out after an HBP. Hope it's not a hand or something.

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 3, 2014 -> 03:32 PM) The yankees are the most successful winners in the league. The white sox are in the bottom tier of baseball. Until they sox are a winner, they should focus on winning. Then they can start worrying about their hair.
