  1. The day pitchers and catchers report isn't about the players playing catch and practicing covering first base. It means winter is almost over, and actual games are about 6 weeks away. It's a great day for these reasons.
  2. Sox first spring game in 4 weeks. Hopefully get to see Abreu, Eaton, and Davidson play their first unofficial game. Opening Day- 2 months from today.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2014 -> 10:36 AM) Hawkins has potential to be in the top half of that list. I am really curious to see what the White Sox do with him this year. http://www.csnchicago.com/white-sox/white-...ourtney-hawkins
  4. By the time they get to opening day, I hope it's something like this, unless they get another catcher: 1. Eaton - CF 2. Ramirez - SS 3. Abreu - 1B 4. Dunn - DH 5. Garcia - RF 6. Viciedo - LF 7. Davidson - 3B 8. Flowers - C 9. Beckham - 2B Bench- Konerko 1B/DH, Danks OF, Garcia IF/OF, Nieto C (rooting for Nieto to be good enough to keep) Move De Aza, Keppinger, and Gillaspie by opening day.
  5. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 25, 2014 -> 10:43 AM) Doug Padilla ‏@ESPNChiSox 8m Hahn admits No. 3 draft pick in June probably will be spent on pitching. Four of top five guys available, as of now, are pitchers. That's fine. Stick with what you know. Not sure what number pick the 2nd round pick is, but maybe that's where they take a high ceiling position player.
  6. I'd like to see how prospect lists from 5-10 years ago panned out. They're fun I guess, but they're also kind of irrelevant in the long run.
  7. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 12:50 PM) Available: 6*, 13*, 18, 25, 33, 34, 38, 40, 41, 43, 48, 56*, 57, 67, 68, 69, 70, 71, 73, 74, 76, 78, 80-98 *6, 13, and 56 are not officially retired but very unlikely to be issued Alex Liddi and Daniel Webb are both listed as #60. I would assume they forgot to change Webb's new number. Maybe 40.
  8. Ventura on the Score in about 5 minutes.
  9. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 12:04 PM) I mostly just think the manager isn't super-important so I guess I feel very 'meh' about it. It's getting to the point where managers are viewed almost as interchangeable as hitting coaches. Former decent players that can string a sentence together for the media will go far.
  10. I don't need to know how much money they're paying him, but can't they at least say how many years this goes?
  11. Projecting a high school pitcher being in the rotation with John Danks? Yeah, no.
  12. Maddux is going in without a logo, as is Tony La Russa. So basically the Cubs and Braves can both claim Maddux as their own Hall of Famer.
  13. http://www.myfoxchicago.com/video?clipId=9...;autostart=true Erik Johnson and Marcus Semien in town for Soxfest.
  14. Hahn was on the Score this morning, mostly talking Tanaka/international signing stuff. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/audio/986-670-...-interviews#986 Konerko will be on CSN tonight.
  15. Sox break camp 9 weeks from today. Hopefully winter will be over by then. Sox draft the 3rd pick 19 weeks from today.
  16. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 10:09 AM) Honestly, I think it will ultimately be less than that. Could be, but it's better just to assume it's going all the way. Best case scenario, he puts the 44 on his back, and he has a great season for a surprise playoff Sox team. Next best, maybe an NL team wants him for the stretch run and possible World Series DH.
  17. Dunn Last Day clock -- 8 months, 6 days.
  18. We're all going to be laughing when Felipe Paulino has a better season.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 09:30 AM) 7/155 with a player opt-out, plus another 20M to Japan? LOL, have fun with that NYY. You can have him. Yep. Just not in the Sox ballpark, and that's fine. If the comp is Dan Haren in his prime, then the Yankees are getting a good pitcher, but not worth that money.
  20. Something has to give with De Aza/Viciedo, and it would appear Viciedo is staying. Same thing with Gillaspie/Keppinger. I think Keppinger will get dealt in spring training. And as far as catcher, Hahn is sticking to the plan. Olivo or Buck just didn't fit his plan. It's either upgrade with a young catcher, or they may go Flowers and gamble with Nieto as a backup.
  21. Dunn is going to 44 Davidson 22 Eaton 1 http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_40man.jsp?c_id=cws http://mlb.mlb.com/team/roster_nri.jsp?c_id=cws

  23. If it's down to the Cubs and Yankees, I hope he signs with the Cubs. Stay out of the league. Go to a bad team.
