  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) Why is it "not looking good"? Because sometimes where there's smoke, there's fire. All it takes is for one person to talk. And if something is under appeal, it could take weeks to come to a conclusion. There's plenty of time for rumors to go around. But hopefully there is nothing legit here. Time will tell, or not. Ok, I'm done talking about this.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:20 PM) Its amazing how many people are assuming this rumor from a guy who heard from a guy who works at the Score, is true. Now that we know Mark Gonzales heard the same thing, there has to be at least something to it. Remember, the SF beat writer apologized to Melky Cabrera for asking him about it in July. Then a month later, Cabrera was suspended.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 01:08 PM) If he tested positive, he'd be very unlikely to get a multi year deal. Hell, he'd still have games to miss starting next year. Could legitimately cost him $10 million. Yes, and to that end, I'm glad he got caught...if this is true. My feeling all season has been he's juicing to get his last big contract. Now he won't. And I think the Sox would break ties with him if he did fail a test.
  4. Mark Liptak over at WSI posted Mark Gonzales is saying he heard rumors last week too. I'm not surprised by AJ, and quite frankly, I didn't want him back next year anyway because he was probably going to get a multi-year deal from somebody, and I didn't want a 37-38 year old AJP on this team.
  5. Unless the rain is supposed to pop up later, it looks like all of main rain stuff is already east of Chicago.
  6. Supposedly the 2013 schedule will be released next Wednesday. September 12.
  7. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 11:18 AM) If he asked, I guarantee AJP would say no. Why let that news out publicly until the last moment possible? Just to put him on the spot.
  8. I hope Mark Gonzales or somebody picks up on this, and flat-out asks him today if it's true he failed a test and it's being appealed.
  9. Let the record show, I didn't start this thread.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 5, 2012 -> 10:51 AM) Is there a reason it should be interesting? Somebody at a different board posted that a person at the Score told him that AJ failed a test and it's currently being appealed. I didn't want to post this myself, figuring it eventually make it over here. But AJ did comment on drug testing, so I guess we'll see what happens...or if it's true.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 23, 2012 -> 01:00 PM) AJ talks about drug testing... http://siriusxmsports.posterous.com/aj-pie...her-joine-85342 AJ talks about Chris Sale and the team... http://siriusxmsports.posterous.com/aj-pie...x-catcher-joine I'm bumping this. May be interesting to listen to his drug testing comments.
  12. I hope De Aza is ok. Maybe just giving him a couple days to recharge. Only one off day after tomorrow. 26 games in 27 days starting Friday.
  13. Why the Sox are leading a crappy division: Unearned runs-- Tigers: 64 Sox: 26
  14. 135 - Game records (what they did the last 27): Tex 80-55 (17-10) NY 76-59 (13-14) Bal 76-59 (19-8) Oak 76-59 (18-9) TB 74-61 (18-9) Sox 73-62 (13-14) Det 72-63 (14-13) LAA 72-63 (14-13) Orioles, Rays, and A's really did great the last month. 27 left.
  15. Just facts about the last 81 games: Sox starters ERA: 4.25 Det starters ERA: 3.75 Sox bullpen: 4.33 Det bullpen: 3.10 Sox staff ERA: 4.28 Det staff ERA: 3.55 Records last 81 games: Sox 42-39 Det 47-34
  16. Well, the AL Central shows its true colors once again. I guess neither team will be getting to 91 wins. Half way through these final 54 games: Det 14-13 Sox 13-14 If they do the same thing the final 27 games, they tie with 86 wins. Meanwhile the Orioles have caught the Yankees at 76-59, by going 19-8 the last 27 games. And the Rays have gone 18-9 the last 27 games.
  17. Darrin Jackson, "Called strike four." And he wasn't trying to make a joke.
  18. I'm sure it's been said, but Quintana needs to be given a big handshake, thank him for his season, and let him watch the rest of the games from the bench. Hector Santiago has more bullets left. And hopefully Floyd can get back soon and give a few good starts.
  19. QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Sep 4, 2012 -> 04:33 PM) He's really solid at home, on the road??? not so much. 6 of 9 quality starts on the road before the ejection game. I'd say he's been outstanding at home, and solid on the road. But hopefully the Sox get to him early and often, and give Q some breathing room.
  20. Scott Diamond has 14 quality starts out of 21, but was bad last time out vs Seattle, and was ejected and suspended the time before that.
  21. After Quintana's last start in Baltimore, I'm surprised Axelrod isn't starting today. We'll see how short of a leash he has. Axelrod is at 143 innings. Quintana is at 162 innings.
  22. It's all hands on deck from here on out. If Quintana stinks in the first inning tonight, we may see Axelrod for 6 innings tonight. And as far as pushing back Sale, I think he'll get this next start vs KC, and if he's dead armed, I don't think he'll face the Tigers. It may be a good idea to just skip him a full start and try to get a fresher arm for the last 4 starts, and line him up for the Game 163/WC/ALDS1.
  23. QUOTE (JoshPR @ Sep 3, 2012 -> 09:32 PM) You guys see him more than me, but watching the vids from the game did Gordon looked a lil more crouched today? Yes, I noticed that as well.
  24. Charlotte is at Indianapolis on Wednesday and Thursday. In Charlotte on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday if it goes the full 5 games.
