  1. One word, two syllabuls...VOODOO!!!
  2. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 30, 2005 -> 08:51 PM) Agreed. I wouldn't mind packaging Davis & Politte for prospects and letting Adkins replace Politte in the bullpen. I cringe when I see Politte come into a game. I like Cliff, and I think he will do fine if he is not overworked. He probably won't have to worry about late innings, as he will pitch earlier with better situations than he did last year. I think he is servicable with solid expierence.
  3. QUOTE(ptatc @ Mar 31, 2005 -> 09:18 AM) This really says what other teams think of him. Isn't the waiver rule that if someone else claimed him they would be responsible for only the MLB minimum of about 250,000 and the Sox would pay the rest? That means no one else likes him even that much. Just think if any team would have only had to pay $250K for Manny Ramirez last off season...
  4. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 11:42 PM) ok let me try to say this 1 more time. Just because you go to Michigan State doesnt mean you like the team more than someone else. You prob pay attention to all the teams as a whole yes, but we arent talking about them as a whole are we? we are talking about them as only the boys basketball team which you have no idea how much Aboz likes them. But considering he has been a fan for awhile and knows the coach personally it sounds like he really cares for the team just as much as you. and as far as the sox comment. Your fandom isnt judged on how many games you go 2. Its judged on how much you love the team. No, I disagree. He is not a Michigan State fan. He is a Michigan State basketball fan, but not a fan of MSU. Does he know any of the [EDIT: basketball history] history? What about the school? Because if this was a White Sox talk right now, he'd be getting it pretty good.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) well the only part of the team are the players and the coach....so whats your point? Are fans important yes, but i dont see how you count as any more of a fan than someone else does. So he has been to two games? Even though I go to the games which are here in EL....so I could say because I go to a few games a year for the Sox, I am a bigger Sox fan than Steff and all the season ticket holders? I also bleed for State...as I have played a DI sport here. I cheer heavily for all the MSU teams, not just pick and choose. If MSU loses, Aboz would be like "aw thats too bad." Me and all my friends would have been pretty crushed.
  6. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 11:22 PM) lol thats kind of funny... so because you went/go to the college you are the better fan and know more about the team than someone who likes the team just as much and actually knows the coach? but than again you must be right, if you dont go to Michigan State how can you know anything about them I didn't say that...I just didn't like him including himself as part of the team.
  7. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) How much do I hear about the team? Hmm considering my Dad has been tight with Izzo since around 1997 and also very tight with Tom Crean for a long time, I'd say I hear a lot. Guess you were unaware on my background with that, not to be a smart ass or anything. When I was at IU and Michigan State came to town, I sat right behind the bench with tickets Coach gave me several times. In 2000, I was there when they won the title. I've been a Michigan State fan for a long time, mainly due to Izzo. And my comments about the senior class, well Drew Sharp and Izzo have both ripped them publicly this year and this is probably the first time anyone can say that they haven't been a disappointment. Sorry to rub you the wrong way by my use of we, but I'm closer to the program than you think. I consider the college sports different than pro sports. It isn't the same unless you're on campus or at the games. The atmosphere here this week has been crazy...next weekend is going to be awesome. Is anyone else's classes (besides the Illini faihtful here) going to be interupted for classmates who excel on the court (boys and girls)? You didn't go to State, so it can never be the same. Just can't. You're a default fan Aboz, that is it. Your dad's third uncle knows this guys who works at the Denny's who brushed up against Tom Izzo once. I don't consider Anderson a disappointment. Torbert needed to lead the team to an NCAA Championship to not be a disappointment, easier said than done. Hill though has been a disaapointment, and almost killed us in the first OT. Well time to go get drunk for the Aggies victory!!! Both boys and girls still alive!!! Did ya know that Aboz? Or do you only follow Izzo?
  8. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) Not sure exactly what you mean, Steve, please clarify. We constantly get ripped...etc. Sorry, but you're really not part of the team...also how much do ya hear about the team? Cause I get to hear so much. I don't say we...and I go to the damn school. The team lost three games in the Big Ten. It was a productive season. Who says Anderson is a dissapointment right now? 90% FT... Torbert could never live up to expectations here, and Chris Hill is stuck because of his no true position.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 27, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) Now that my pulse is back to normal let me just say that I am so proud of Michigan State and the Big 10 this year. We constantly get ripped for having a down year, yet when it comes down to it, Illinois and the Spartans win the big game when it counts. Does it get any better than this if you are fan of either program? I think not. So excited for all of the Illini fans who get to see their first Final Four since 89 and also excited for the Spartan fans like myself who get to see a group of guys who were picked by many to lose to Old Dominion in the opening round make a run at this thing. Torbert, Anderson and Hill surely deserve this after the scrutiny they've been under since arriving in East Lansing. What a great time to be a college basketball fan. Good luck Illinois and Michigan State the rest of the way. We? I love hearing people root for State, but come on now...State has had such a down trodden year...next weekend is going to be great though.
  10. MSU!!! WE GOING f***ING CRAZY!!! CANT WAIT TO GET WASTED AND WATCH THE FINAL FOUR!!! TIME TO RIOT BABIES!!!
  11. We doing the minor leaguer draft still?
  12. Now can anyone see me not saying Sparty?
  13. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Mar 26, 2005 -> 04:16 AM) Okay, I'm going to say this one last time -- if Sheehan has really watched Buehrle pitch, would he be saying that Mark is nothing more than a middle-of-the-rotation pitcher? You have seen Buehrle pitch and you seem to know that Buehrle is an ace or at least an extremely strong #2 so why doesn't Sheehan see this? Just because his name is Joe Sheehan and he writes for "Baseball Prospectus" doesn't make his opinion any more valid than your's or mine. In fact, our opinions hold much more value than his because I guarantee you, Sheehan isn't watching 162 White Sox games every season. I agree, but keep in mind all of us here have some kind of bias (be it huge or tiny).
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 10:09 PM) I am actually curious to see Coppenraith again, just because he can't be as bad as he looked against MSU. I agree. I watched him in his conference final, and I was really worried about him. I couldn't believe Paul Davis and Co. took it to him. On a sidenote...that is State's first big win in two seasons. They didn't beat a single ranked team last season, and only beat a lower ranked Wisky team this season. Crazy to think this team hadn't done that...next year is going to be stellar too...Davis (should stay), Neitzel, Ager, Brown, and Delco all back. Nasty, nasty lineup.
  15. Crede? Haha, come on...we are already short in the infield...and sorry but Fields ain't ready. *Shakes head and laughs*
  16. QUOTE(ChiSoxFan @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 11:24 PM) He should stick with #74. Seriously, I just read the Buerhle article in the Phil Rogers thread, and he mentioned that Buerhle was assigned #56 in ST in 2000, yet decided to keep the number. At least we would know that BMac would stand out from the rest. Zito...
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) And so much for Paul Davis being soft. He single handedly took Williams out of that game. 20 and 12 in the biggest game of his career thus far. Got to Coppenraith too....he will still be considered soft. I have seen him disappear too many times in games...but he has had a very, very solid tourney so far and lets hope they can keep it up vs the winner of Utah/Kentucky.
  18. MICHIGAN f***ING STATE!!!!! WAY TO GO!!!!!
  19. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) And those guys are somehow better than Buehrle, Garcia, Duque, Contreras and Garland? What is this guys smoking? He didn't say that...their #1 has very similar numbers to our #5, so no way he says that. I think he did it based on the fact they have stars. He will assume Mags goes for .300, 30 hr, 100 rbi...plus there is IRod. I doubt he looked at Guillen as having a career year when he did for Rowand. Overall, it is not a very good comparison, but baseball is not played on paper.
  20. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Mar 25, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) 4th behind the Tigers? I can't even name their entire rotation? GMAFB. :headshake This guy is getting paid for this crap? That is cause it is not set in stone yet. Bonderman, Johnson, Maroth, Robertson, and it looks like Ledezma.
  21. Gotta love the attitude...too bad we had good ole Mike Jackson last year.
  22. Freel, Pena, and Felipe Lopez could be options. I'd love Freel and Pena, Lopez could be a decent backup MIF.
