  1. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 15, 2005 -> 06:38 PM) Wow, first of all there is no way we will risk another injury to Frank by having him play 1st base. It just isn't worth it. Konerko does not have the range to play 3rd base anymore. And Crede at shortstop, the outfield, and 2nd base? Are you trying to make us the worst defensive team in baseball? Wow, those are some of the worst and most ridiculous ideas that I have ever heard. It is what he has in his videogame, so it must be possible. :headshake
  2. QUOTE(orangekrush88 @ May 14, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) LOL! I had one Cub fan tell me last night that Hairston is better than Iguchi and the Zombrano is better than Garland, so wrong Zambrano was an AS last season...Iguchi is not known outside of Sox fans, Garland is not known outside diehard baseball fans. I could see, while I disagree, how someone could make those comments.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ May 15, 2005 -> 10:25 AM) Ever hear of John Smoltz? Smoltz, Isringhausen, Batista, Foulke, Gagne, Dempster (haha), Hermanson, Baez, Affeldt are starters turned relievers off my head. It is not a bad move. I remember when Smoltz did it, he couldn't make it four or five innings as a starter without getting shelled, then just dominated.
  4. I remember that game...it wasn't fun then, and still sucks to look back at.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 13, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) Not true.....See "2004 Cleveland Indians" but then again, that was a bad team with a bunch of All-Stars. But ur probably right, 2001 Mariners had like 3543 all-stars. Yeah, but with all of the press Garland and Buerhle are getting right now, Hermanson is as good as there is right now, and we can really hope for all the Iguchi voting Ichiro fans.
  6. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ May 14, 2005 -> 12:08 AM) Because, while he is a good player, if Jose Guillen is the face of your franchise, you have problems. Not saying I wouldn't take him - I was one of the biggest supporters of getting him, especially since it would have cost us like maybe Willie Harris and Jon Adkins - just saying he has been known to have been a problem in the clubhouse before, and I don't think KW would f*** with that with the way this team is gelling. So let me get this right...he is too much of a clubhouse problem for Washington, so your solution is to acquire him? He is cheap for them, and they are going to be able to keep him for awhile. They will be able to go after some quality FA's (Castilla and Guzman weren't top tier FA's last year) because they don't have to worry about the issues they did this previous offseason. I honestly see them trading him equal to us trading Buerhle, as I don't recall any clubhouse problems in Cincy, Oakland, or Washington so far...
  7. Last night at like 1am I had an hour long discussion with a huge and knowledgable Cubs fan. We both had had a few beers, I beat his ass when he kept flip flopping on everything. We had a huge discussion on the Cubs failures last year, I really don't remember what the hell we were talking about for the most part (I was intoxicated ), but it was fun as hell when I shut him up. EDIT: I did get him on bulls*** points, but it was still fun...I had better insight on the damn Cubs than he did too. My best friend is a huge Cubs fan too, and we have actually both gotten better about the other team. I don't mind cheering for the Cubs now, as I do like some of their players. I read alot of those posts, and we write the same thing about them over here, so I say just let them be. On Southsiders, I did my All-Chicago team, and I can see very easily how they think alot of people are flashes in the pan...sorry guys but most people arn't as knowledgable as some of the guys we have here.
  8. 1. Robin Ventura 2. Magglio Ordonez 3. Frank Thomas 4. Scott Schoeneweis 5. Bo Jackson 6. Damaso Marte 7. Tim Raines 8. Jim Parque 9. Jason Bere 10. Julio Ramirez
  9. Garland, El Duque, and Hermanson (assuming he continues to close our games). ESPN and alot of others have started to fall in love with MB, so he could be a "sexy" pick. If we still have such a dominating record, we will have to have more than one or two players.
  10. Jose would be nasty out of the pen...I'd go MB, OH, JG, FG come the playoffs...Jon needs to keep it up to start a series off, I like El Duque second because of expierence.
  11. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 13, 2005 -> 01:25 AM) Is he only making 4 mill this season? I thought it was more like 5, or 6, but now that I think of it, what's the 2nd year of his contract worth and isn't there a buyout? And it's probably more likely the Sox would try an in house solution before acquiring Wilson anyways. Now if it was CRAIG Wilson we were talking about, that's a different story. Craig is on the DL.
  12. QUOTE(rafacosta @ May 13, 2005 -> 07:52 AM) There is a lot of RFers that we can get. I rather take Jose Guillen and his contract than get Wilson...Jose Guillen's stats: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=5753 He is making 3.5 mil this year... Why would Washington trade him? I just don't see why.
  13. Eh, I would give them a second chance, everyone deserves another chance. Anybody who tests positive twice obviously hasn't learned, I'd release them after two positives.
  14. Who is going to want him? His salary?
  15. If we only have one AS and still have the best record in baseball and the best starting ERA at the break, I will never watch nor vote for the game again. It'd be a joke. If the Yankees get 5 guys and are under .500, they really need to look and change the way players get into the game.
  16. I like Greg Zaun. He is a good catcher and he was trying to help his team by breaking up a DP...just too bad he got hurt. I wish him the best.
  17. Awesome...I agree that someone should email Brooks the story.
  18. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ May 4, 2005 -> 03:28 PM) Here is BA's newest hot sheet, take a look at the bottom at Walter Young's position... http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minor...tsheet2005.html Haha, what the hell is a gigantor?
  19. Burn them?...China?...funny as hell though.
  20. That's too bad...let's hope for a speedy and full recovery.
  21. The final five seconds of a basketball game... (haha jk).
  22. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ May 3, 2005 -> 06:56 PM) Who gives their kids the same name? Echo, echo, echo, echo.....
  23. Haha, who names their kid the same thing?
  24. QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ May 2, 2005 -> 11:28 PM) it's a dick move because she's not a public figure. Say whatever you want about him but you should leave the daughter out of it. I agree wit Punch and Judy. It's just not right.
  25. QUOTE(UofIChiSox @ May 2, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) I've heard about the need to shorten the season if amphetamines are banned, my question is just how is the game so different from the past when pitchers pitched every day or every other day or whatever. It's amazing how much the game has changed from being more about endurance then to power now. Players don't have the stamina and durability. Players back then didn't go on the DL when the slightest discomfort hit...they played through it. They needed to get paid. With guarenteed contracts in a multimillion dollar industry, they take alot less chances.
