  1. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:37 PM) Yes. But if the team claims a player and they actually aquire him they are soley responsible for his entire contract. One reason Griffey Jr. might make it through. Plus it makes it unlikely that the two teams trying to complete the trade will want to deal with the team that blocked it anytime soon. Ken Griffey will make it through for sure IMHO. The Reds could just say there you go, have him, they're stuck with him then (although I see him staying in Cincy). That is not all true too. Often times GM would see it as you help me this time, I'll help you next time. But, you have to remember this is a business. If you're trying to block a trade by someone, odds are you're not going to be dealing with them anyways as they're a direct competitor. If you won't deal with a team to make your team better because another GM was "very mean to you *tear*," you're just an idiot.
  2. QUOTE(spiderman @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 03:50 PM) SF might be relunctant to trade anybody since they want to be a contender with a healthy Bonds....We'll have to see on that one, but I wouldn't rule it out. Ibanez sounds like a decent fit. He's quietly having a nice season, and isn't overly expensive. Does he play the field at all anymore ? He has played the field in 20 games this year (15 in LF). He just didn't fit in the field with Sexson at 1B, Ichiro, Reed, and Winn in OF. Now Winn has been traded, maybe he would see more time in OF, but who knows with that team. I would like him to come here though, I think he'd be a nice fit. .299, 15, 63 is nice.
  3. Eh, I kinda disappointed to hear her say that.
  4. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) I hope Howard enjoys playing the OF. Haha, that'll be a sight to see.
  5. One of my crabs has a Sox hat on...mine is my Sox hat, the 1983 one with red brim and just SOX on it.
  6. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 11:01 PM) Howard and Kotchman won't clear waivers, that's just dumb. Overbay would be a huge coup, if he was able to slide through waivers to some team. I was bout to say, Ryan Howard...sometimes I think I could do a better job than ESPN.
  7. I was thinking about this yesterday during the game...I could see Gload hitting like he did last year eventually, and being the everyday 1B with Kong going elsewhere.
  8. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) I hated those sleavless ones.....I'll take the black anyday.....my personal fav is the grey road jerseys I second that.
  9. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Jason Schmidt is crap outside of a Giants uniform and always has been.... HE IS NO LONGER ON STEROIDS HE'S NOT AN ACE! THE FACT IS THAT HE WOULD HAVE AN ERA WELL OVER 6 IN THE CELL... But Felix Diaz will thank you when he's back on the team because either he or El Duque is injured... Man i'm sick of you bandwagon fans who don't follow baseball who bring up stupid trade ideas just because the guys name is famous... NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORSE HE IS THEN ANYTHING WE HAVE... I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO JUST IGNORE IT BUT YOU GUYS ARE PISSING ME OFF, SOMEONE HAD TO SAY IT! JASON SCHMIDT IS OVER, AND IF IT WASN'T FOR BEING INTRODUCED TO BERRY BONDS AND BALCO HE NEVER WOULD OF BEEN! PLEASE GET A FREAKIN' CLUE! ... ...that was a joke right?
  10. He could make Marte expendible. I would rather make other moves, but for the right price...
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:05 PM) Still, who is misplaced for Millar? They have leCroy and Morneau playign first, and Lew Ford as the 4th outfielder. Boston sure has been eager to get rid of Millar in the past 2 years though LeCroy on the bench would make it a better bench. It could mean another deal, possibly Millar being shipped to a third team. I imagine a deal involving these three would involve a few other players and cash. I don't see either Mueller or Millar moving to Minnesota.
  12. If I am drinking, yes. If I am with friends who are there to have fun, yes. If I am there with friends to watch the game, no. Overall, no preference.
  13. QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) dont forget johnny damon, looks like a girl, and throws like one too. I don't know what kind of girls you hang out with, but none of the girls I know have a beard...
  14. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) How do you know that? Of course, some days he has great stuff. And the next, he can't find the strike zone to save his life. Everyone was waiting for the strikeouts to come around this year. They came around, and yet he's somehow found a way to give up more runs than before. I dunno -- I like Cabrera, and I enjoy watching him pitch. But I don't see how it's 'obvious' that he'll pull it all together and become great anytime soon. He throws hard as hell. I never said obvious too, but IMO he will be good. I never said he is going to be great, or a Cy Young winner, but he has the stuff to be a good solid pitcher. I'd sure as hell take him.
  15. QUOTE(ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 03:52 PM) I don't understand why the Marlins would do that when they're like a game or two out of the wild card despite problems with Beckett, Mota and Lowell. Dumb trade IMO Cabrera is going to be a good one. Cheap too.
  16. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 08:55 PM) True but I'm sure they did'nt bring him up,so Randa could DH for three games! Um, teams do that...Prince Fielder did when the Brewers went to Tampa Bay not too long ago. QUOTE(Jimenez4MVP @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 05:41 PM) Dude your crazy, Lidge would easily become our best reliever and kick Hermanson out of the closers role.. He has a 2.73 ERA and K's batters at an alarming rate Haha, and you use logic, how crazy of you.
  17. I went to the game yesterday and it was a blast, but boy did parking really suck.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) "You could make a deal for Crede right now." Interesting. If he's so atrocious, I wonder why all these GM's would want him. Uh, as to why no GM has made the deal for him...
  19. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:20 AM) If Jose Reyes can play up to his potential anytime soon, he'll be right up there. Uh, SS.
  20. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 15, 2005 -> 05:14 PM) And why would we give Politte or Cotts up. No way with Cotts improving and Politte pitching his ass off.
