  1. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 06:37 PM) Lohse is no where near a 3rd starter, give me Silva over Lohse anyday. I always looked at it as Silva was their #3...I think most do.
  2. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Really? You'd consider Atlanta a dominant team right now? I guess that I'd put them in the "Very Good Teams" category with the White Sox, Red Sox, Astros, Angels, Athletics, etc. I don't like their pitching too much. Their pitching? Hudson, Smoltz, Hampton, Thompson...I'd take them in the playoffs. I think you mean to say their hitting is scarier, atleast that is for me IMHO. Their bullpen is bad too, but who knows what could happen in the playoffs.
  3. This has bad news on it, and I really don't see how something can't get worked out. Hey, we should get Leinart next year though.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) Yeah, read about this in the paper about a week ago. The best part was Felipe Lopez giving the kid his helmet from the All-Star game this year, that thing had to mean a lot to Felipe especially considering how unnoticed he's gone this year and how unexpected his selection was. Yeah, I thought the same thing about the helmet from Felipe. I would imagine it was special to him anyways as it was prob his "#1" helmet (for lack of better words).
  5. Six months = Season? Why not just say that?
  6. QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) I'm not a betting man, but if I was, I'm betting this is all hogwash. That is how I feel. I don't think this should be the way the MLB should go about this, and it would crush them if two names like this were released on the same day. Too much just doesn't make sense. IMHO, when you fail a test, you should be suspended 10 days, I don't care what BS story you have...makes you wonder if anyone failed then won the arbitration hearing?
  7. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:40 PM) What time is the expected announcement? 3:30 CST.
  8. That is too bad, I couldn't imagine being the little boy asking how he was going to get home. That is a really nice story.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) See, I disagree with you on that one... If it is a performance enhancing substance banned by baseball, I don't care how it is administered (orally, shots, cream), and I don't care how effective it is (THG for Bonds's explosion in size compared to Palmeiro's Winstrol that only helps some but doesn't create the explosion in body size). If it's illegal, the baseball players shouldn't be taking it. If they are taking it, even by accident, I don't want them playing in the league until it is out of their system. There are players still on stuff for sure, and as baseball doesn't test for everything that is banded (bloodtests and HGH etc). I just think you'd have to be a fool to get caught now.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:28 PM) It is a "Greenie"...it's a stimulant. It is one of those things that a player would take to try to get himself "Up" for the game so that he has energy to last through it and so forth. So yes, it enhances performance. I hate the term "performance enhancer." A proper diet is a "performance enhancer." Lifting weights, sleeping properly, etc...I just hate the term.
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 01:14 PM) Steve.. what if it's a banned substance in something innocent..? Like in a suppliment? Or power bar or drink? I agree they need to be extremely careful.. but there is the "what if"..no? That is why you have it tested by the medical staff. I guarentee that any MLB player can get stuff tested. We're told to have whatever we buy over the counter checked out. There is a pretty good list that they give ya. I don't buy a "what if" reason. What kind of power bar has juice like RP had in him? A player a la Clemens or Damon obviously are smarter than that (not saying they're guilty, just that's who everyone is implying and so them for example). Zero tolerance...get caught, no excuse, you failed. That is how I feel...because it is illegal in the game...but, I have no problems with steroids, but I really have a problem with lying.
  12. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 11:12 AM) I see your point Brian. It's precisely because players don't know what may taint test results that they should either not take anything, or do what Mark B. claims Sox players do and that is to have everything tested by the coaching staff before taking it. The fault still falls on the player, IMO. I agree it's the player's fault. There is no way somebody does not know what they're putting into their bodies, especially a pro athlete. MB has it right, if you have any questions, take it to the medical staff and make sure it is approved. The excuse you don't know what goes into your body is BS. I wrestled at MSU, and we would have a meeting where they discussed everything and we had to sign all kinds of stuff, and it was mandatory. You can't tell me that a pro baseball team paying players millions of dollars is clueless.
  13. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Aug 18, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) Let's go through all of the pitchers that were in the All Star game for the AL and the NL that teams are in playoffs... Colon- He is on Pizza
  14. I like it alot actually, not what I'd build, but nice.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) What the f*** is wrong with you? Using logic is not allowed here! Some of the "ideas" people have on here just make my head hurt.
  16. I am not even going to read this thread...seriously, bench Kong, then we have who playing 1B? Timo? Ozuna? Widger? Dye? Blum? I'll stick with the most dangerous bat in the lineup.
  17. Haha, thats too funny. Joe Carter sucked ass. The announcers suck now too, too many long ass pauses where Brenley is just thinking what the f*** are you saying and why am I here?
  18. This can't be the whole list...it looks like only the AL East, Astros, and some stars are on it. EDIT: Mets too.*
  19. I find it funny and I support him no matter what.
  20. I don't even know when my school starts...seems like alot of people are moving back to their schools before me though.
  21. Can anyone tell me updated attributes for guys like AJ, Pods, and Cotts? They suck in the game, they arn't that bad in real life.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:47 PM) That's the point Steve. We're last. We won't claim anyone. Once a player clears waivers, however, he is eligible to be traded to any team. We'd pass on Griffey and work something out with specs so that Cinci would eat some contract. There's no way we would risk putting a claim on him. I wasn't saying for us. I was saying in general refering the the people who are worried Griffey will get claimed.
  23. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 04:43 PM) I doubt either of those players had a Griffey-sized contract, not to mention Jr.'s health concerns. Which makes it even riskier to claim Griffey.
