Ordonez calls Sox skipper his 'enemy'
SuperSteve replied to South Side Fireworks Man's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) If I'm not mistaken, Ordonez WAS part of the team last season, therefore, signing one of your key players, would be something the manager should worry about. I agree, that is stupid as hell. I can't believe he said that. -
Awful Experience at Sox Park (Cellular Field)
SuperSteve replied to southsideirish's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsideirish @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) SBC Park. You know, with those little plastic chain links and then an usher is standing by it. I went to a Chicago Wolves game, and they did it. I liked it. -
QUOTE(TheDybber @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:36 AM) What everyone is forgetting here is that we are talking about foster parents, not adoptive parents. And there is a shortage of foster parents everywhere. To all of a sudden cut down on an already small number by discriminating against gay foster parents is ridiculous. And it's not Texas, it's religious conservatives. They are all over the place now and there will be a huge backlash soon. Here's a state with a Republican governor and a Republican controlled legislature who did something completely different... Connecticut That is different then. I didn't read the articles, I just read previous posts. I don't get why people couldn't be foster parents though. Just aslong as they can take good care of the kids.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:28 AM) I see your point, but for them to move would mean they are being persecuted in a way. I don't know how to say what I mean. When I have children, I would like to raise them in an environment which is the best for them. Recently in the State News (Michigan State's student newspaper), they had an article about a retired couple who had been foster parents, and decided to adopt the child they had been fostering and his sister (5 and 4 years old respectively). The parents are white, and the children are black. The family moved to a nearby city where they felt it was more racially diverse. I mean like that, I don't know about making it illegal and all that, I was just saying even if it was legal, I could see many families moving to a more accepting area.

QUOTE(RegionSox @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 10:13 PM) Yes, I think that's what everyone is forgetting. These kids have no one. Any parents that want them would be fine with them I'm sure As babies I am sure it would never be an issue. The one thing would be if older children. What about children who are old enough to figure out about having two gay parents, would he/she be comfortable...I don't know, I'd have to think it wouldn't be an issue, but you never know.

QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 08:52 AM) If you knew that's not what I meant then why'd you do it? Go back and read my earlier post. I got what you were saying the first time I read the post, but I could see how it could be misread.

It's Texas guys...just wait until they start executing them ( I am still torn on gay parents. Seems like Rosie has been great for gay people, as she seems like a fit parent. I do not know enough to have an informed opinion. If the two love each other, and are fit parents, why shouldn't they be parents. I would think gay parents would want to live in a part of the country where homosexuality is more accepted. If I was gay, I wouldn't want to raise the children where it would be an issue either. JMHO.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) They lost their sparkplug in Vizquel. Peralta may be good one day, but Vizquel was the heart of that team. Offensively and defensively. They don't really have a veteran to lead them...and no Aaron Boone doesn't count. Milwood is such a leader... ...just look at how he lead the Phillies to the playoffs for the last couple years. He was like Derek Jeter, but in the NL. Juan Gonzalez is a great leader too...

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) You beat me to it Over/under on Yanks and Sawks starting the ASG: 6.5 I'll take under, as Ichiro, Vladdy, and IRod will get the start (unless Varitek gets all the New England votes). I have to imagine neither Bellhorn or Womack will start either, so Steven takes under.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 03:24 AM) Several people predicted the Tribe would struggle offensively. The thought process was that too many of them had career years last year. Personally, I think they'll pull out of it and put up some respectable numbers by the time it's all over. I still cannot see them competing for above third place.

The knee, or not the knee. That is the question.

QUOTE(trexer @ Apr 21, 2005 -> 07:33 AM) Interesting how Maggs went to Vienna a man and returned to America as a woman.... -
I like her, one of my favorites.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) In contrast to the rest of the top 30 Ichiro is a steal. Vladdy and Albert Pujols are right next to Ichiro. All I can say is damn do some teams overpay. On a side note, how much do we actually pay for Contreras?

Very cool. Just watched it on TV for the last hour or so. Very cool.

Thunderstruck is the song the football team comes onto the field here at MSU. The intro is unlike anything. Sparty (the statue not mascot) comes to life and cuts the other team's logo in half with a sword on the big screen as Sparty (the mascot) sprints onto the field with the football team following him. Nothing like it. Thunderstruck is an awesome song for sports like this.

I had seen that piece a few weeks ago it seemed. I watched it again today. Still gets me. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) My relationship with my ps2 is love hate. Sometimes I'll play it everyday for two weeks, then I won't play it for a month. I'm just back into the ps2 mode for now. I'll get sick of it by next week. I am the same way. Sometimes I lose interest for awhile.

QUOTE(winodj @ Apr 17, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) Actually the problem with the Catholic Church is how they relate to homosexuals in relation to their own cathecism. From what I've read, the official word is that a homosexual is an equal member in standing within the Church and should be welcomed and afforded the same standing as anyone else. The only difference is that gay people can't marry in the Church (since the point of marriage in the Catholic Church is essentially one of procreation and little else). But sex out of wedlock and homosexual sex are supposed to be treated equally. They are of the same sin supposedly. Sex in the Church is to bring two people into one and to create more generations IIRC from HS.

Too bad, but I hope she never gets her license. These are the kinds of people who should not be on the road from the beginning.

QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Apr 15, 2005 -> 03:49 PM) Why are pitchers all of the sudden extending their contracts for less than market-value, especially after this offseason? Money isn't everything to everyone. Maybe he wants to help build a winner in Milwaukee? Maybe he and his wife would like to raise their children in Milwaukee? Maybe he loves it in Milwaukee?

your personal worst sports moment

QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:30 PM) When I was about 7 years old, my Dad signed me up for soccer (before I realized I didn't like it). Well, at this age, there were a lot of girls who played as well. To make a long story short, I accidentally kicked a girl on another team while trying to get the ball. She subsequently turned around and hit me square in the eye... ...and I've been a giant pussy ever since. You okay big guy, want a glass of water, I'm here for you..... -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 14, 2005 -> 09:27 PM) Better than the "security" in Detroit. Two fights at Fenway in what eight months. Sheesh.
