  1. Let me sum this thread up for everyone that hasn't read through it: Rabble Rabble this team isn't playing hard (but I can't prove it) rabble rabble. Question for the people that want Ozzie Fired: If he's the reason they're losing then why didn't they win the two games he was suspended? And further, what do you want him to do to make this team better?
  2. QUOTE (soxfan72 @ May 1, 2011 -> 11:56 AM) Will Greg Walker ever be fired or do I have to put up with this crap the rest of my life? Slumps on the White Sox include 90% of the line up. They go on longer and deeper than any other team. They happen over and over, year after year. This team is an embarassment. When will people start being held accountable for the crap that is the White Sox the last X number of years? Funny how they always seem to hit, year after year. And funny how they hit 200 homeruns, year after year. But yes, Fire Greg Walker...because....slumps and stuff.
  3. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ May 1, 2011 -> 10:25 AM) Thornton sure didn't have any luck whatsoever yesterday, but you can appreciate the boos, everyone on this teams deserves an earful, and I mean everyone. If they're not strong enough to take the boos and raise their level of intensity and competitive juices (which appears to be at about a 2 on a scale of 1-10 right now) then they all should move back in with their parents and cry to their mommies. Someone needs to pay for Gordo's slow start, his mechanics are awful. If they just let him swing like he did before Walker got in his head he'd probably be leading the league in doubles and hitting .320 right now. This post sucks. So you're saying Thornton should be booed because he made his pitches? Then you throw out the "competitive juices" nonsense where you offer no proof the White Sox are not playing their hardest. THEN you want to blame somebody else for Beckham not getting the job done? The finally you project Beckhams stats if someone else was the hitting coach, yet you cannot name a someone else that would do a better job. If hitting coaches mattered they'd go to the hall of fame. Hell if they mattered you could give me a list of the 5 best hitting coaches of all time. But neither is the case.
  4. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 10:07 AM) Simple forecasting strategy... Predict Doom & Gloom... When the team is losing, you can gloat and post "I told you so" threads... When the team is winning, point out negatives while claiming you're just trying to provide objectivity and balance out all the kool-aid drinking optimists. Brilliant. This. It's sad that people who post on here the most act like they have never been through a baseball season. Anyone care to point out where the Giants were at this point last year? And seriously, stop with the whole Ozzie sucks s***. Turn on a different baseball team and you'll quickly find out Ozzie is easily one of the best managers in the game.
  5. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Apr 30, 2011 -> 05:24 AM) He won't be fired this year or even 2012 no matter what our record is. I think JR still regrets the letting go of LaRussa Stopped reading there. Tony LaRussa is a giant assbag, and I'm glad he is not involved with my favorite team.
  6. different and not what I was expecting at all...in a good way. Will be my desktop image at work come May!
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Hard to say Sizemore can't stay healthy after he had the major surgery. If we rip on their players for being hurt, then how about Quentin and Peavy for us? I have never been a Quentin believer. Like I'll root for the guy but I have always been the first to say he shouldn't be signed long term because of his healthy history. He'll be injured again this year and I know it. Peavy doesn't really bother me, probably because he's made so few starts here. It's an out of sign, out of mind thing I guess. Plus I never got the Clayton Richard love. Ditto Poreda.
  8. well gentlemen, it might be time for me to start drinking Bourbon heavily
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:36 PM) So Sizemore isn't worth a damn? Hafner hasn't been bad at all the last two years either. Sizemore used to be my favorite player to watch, but he just can't stay healthy. He really hasn't been good since 2007. Hafer is alwaysssss injured. He's been a shell of his former self since 2005/2006.
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:33 PM) I really wish we could get Viciedo's bat into the lineup against LHP. Our current lineup vs LHP is terrible. I'm not a big Viciedo fan...so there's that. I'm not a believer in the bat for this team. He needs to DH. Period. His glove costs you way too many runs. Plus, if Adam Dunn drives people nuts with the strike outs (and lots of walks) then Viciedo should be a demon to those people.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:32 PM) No, but Sizemore/A. Cabrera have returned looking healthy. Sure their guys won't keep hitting .375, but Carlos Santana will improve his numbers also. Who do they have taking Carrasco's rotation spot? Soo Choo and Santana are the only players worth a damn on that team. Chizenhall might be good once they call him up to play third. Couldn't tell you much specifics about their rotation besides the fact that it's bad.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) I refuse to believe Morel flew out to right. It's scary how little Morel and Rios are bringing to the table these days. It's scary how people thought Morel would hit.
  13. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:30 PM) I hate watching the NFL draft, but this game is making me want to change the channel. Hearing the boo-yah network tell me every player is great makes me want to throw up on myself.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:25 PM) Thing is, the Sox have more talent than the Indians (on paper), but if this offense continues to slump and Indians offense continues to pound the ball, you start to worry that the 10-15 game lead they have will require a huge run by the Sox to get back into contention. The offense is showing absolutely no signs of breaking out of the 3 week slump. Question: Did you think the Indians were going to be any good before the season started? If not, what has changed your mind? Seriously, a correction is coming for both teams, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when.
  15. Plus, with the Indians, i just about guarantee Jack Hannahan isn't starting at 3rd in two months. Nor will Justin Masterson keep this up. His splits for righties and lefties for his career are troubling.
  16. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 28, 2011 -> 07:22 PM) and who in the AL Central is going to challenge them at this point. Brad Penny came down to earth. Do you really think Sizemore will stay healthy? Do you really think Haffner will stay healthy? Do you really think OCab is is any good? The White Sox are still going to win the central. I'd bet it if I wasn't paing rent/car loan/student loan/ etc.etc.
  17. The Indians suck and you're delusional if you think they'll keep it up and be healthy. Oh and they can't pitch for s***. Their pen is intriguing to me.
  18. Anyone surprised to not see Sale pitching to Cano?
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:43 PM) That was discussed on here quite often last year, and by other posters closer to the situation. There are a lot of things discussed on the internet with "people close to the situation." Like I heard Obama was a secret Muslim commie who was born in.... see what I mean? I have a hard time believing a guy is a mental midget when he joins a big league team less than a year after college and is able to stick in the big leagues.
  20. GODf***ING DAMNIT STOP WITH THE STOLEN BASES!!!! You're a goddamn home run hitting AL team. PLAY LIKE IT.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:40 PM) He's a mental midget who would call Greg Walker every day apparently after his rookie year to ask Walker if he thought he could make it in the big leagues. That's why once he started struggling last year, the s*** hit the fan. holy unsubstantiated rumors batman!
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:38 PM) Yeah, that's working wonders with Beckham. small sample sizes are fun. Really though, for once I want to see this team go over slot on ANY kind of f***ing talent. But I know it's a pipe dream, what with the Selig/Reinsdorf relationship. Bud Selig is bad for baseball.
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:36 PM) Is there anybody in the sox system that can be a different voice for our young hitters? Drafting better players usually does the trick
  24. QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Apr 26, 2011 -> 08:30 PM) Bring up Dayan and grab anyone off the street that can play the infield for a month in a pinch. Wonderful idea. Let's make the defense suck even more.
