  1. These last few minutes with lebron and durant have been entertaining as hell.
  2. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 26, 2014 -> 09:18 PM) It was pathetic. Bob Costas was going on and on about how Derrek Mckey was limited athletically/lateral movement wise but was still such a great defender because he knew how to utilize hand-checking. GMAFB. Paul George, Tony Allen, Andre Igudala without handechecking >>> Derrek Mckey with handchecking. Defense should be played with your feet and should be about challenging shots. Also, bigs had no responsibility back then other than to stay in the paint and challenge short shots. Now you have to be able to cover the pick and roll, cover the weakside and challenge long-range shooters (love, Anderson, etc). Joakim Noah > Alonzo Mourning defensively There are still rim protectors though like Hibbert or Howard. I think Mourning would be just fine, but who knows. Mourning also played as recently as 2007-2008 when he averaged 1.7 blocks per game on 15 minutes per game. He was 37. The two previous years he averaged over 2 blocks per game at around 20 minutes per game.
  3. Bertrand needs to stop driving. He's just not going to get a call today.
  4. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 10:57 PM) 180 days in jail and 10 years probation I think. ... It was a rhetorical question
  5. How long did Brent get for killing his teammate?! Imagine if he was black?! f***ing ruffian.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 08:43 AM) No one's saying Durant sucks. Why does being the second best player in the league have to be such a cutdown? This is so 2013 to anoint someone the most talented and best player in the league the moment the Sportscenter hype machine gets rolling. This isn't really a "hype machine". Durant has a higher PER, better o-rating, d-rating, scores more points on similar efficiency, grabs more RPG, gets more steals and blocks, and averages less turnovers. Lebron seems to be coasting, but it isn't hard to make an argument for Durant being the best player in the league this year. This isn't 2011 Derrick Rose. Again, I think Lebron is still better and it will show in the playoffs (maybe not the finals), but people are just saying it really isn't that far off. Maybe Durant goes in a slump and Lebron goes on a streak and all this changes back to Lebron being clear number 1. Right now, though, Durant is playing right with Lebron as best player in the league.
  7. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 24, 2014 -> 08:39 AM) Wow, some of the s*** spouted in this thread last night was awful. People love to hate on LeBron. Durant has a few weeks of taking 30 shots per game and now suddenly he's better than LeBron. Get out of here. LeBron could score 40ppg for a season if he really wanted to (and in turn have a team that's not nearly as cohesive and wear himself out). He has a 64% TS%. Lebron can average 40 PPG for a season and other people are the ones spouting s***?
  8. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 09:15 PM) Okay, you're the second guy in like 15 minutes to say this now and it's bugging me. Durant doesn't play for the Cavs. Westbrook is a top-10 player in the league when he's on the floor (and you can make the same criticism about Wade), Ibaka is a well above average big man, and Jackson and Lamb are decent scorers. Outside of the Big 3, the Heat are comprised of a bunch of guys that are past their prime or never had a prime. Eh, I'll take bosh, wade, and a bunch of guys that stretch the floor for a dominant drive and kick or post up and kick guy like lebron. We can agree to disagree. I do think that the thunder supporting cast is much better on defense though. I never thought durant played on the cavs either. It's not like I said lebrons supporting cast was leaps and bounds better. I just think its a better offense for lebron to play in. E: well, the thunder supporting cast looks better on defense in the regular season I mean. The heat tend to be a whole different animal in the playoffs.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 09:11 PM) Yeah, I'll never understand what happened to LeBron in the '11 finals. He torched a KG-led Celtics and Thibs -coached Bulls teams leading up to the finals. The Mavs played some pretty sophisticated zones but still, LeBron shouldn't have been that stifled. That's his one and only black mark, IMO. He played too passive last year in the finals too (again a problem with putting his teammates before him), but realized he needed to go HAM (with a clutch 3 from ray ray) to win that finals. Sometimes his passivity gets the best of him.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) Tonight is a good example. There's like 6 minutes left in this game and LeBron has taken 12 shots. Chris Bosh has taken 20 and is having a great game. That's LeBron and what separates him from past and current greats. He'll scale his game back and let others flourish. Agreed, sometimes it's good and sometimes its bad. Mostly good, although it cost them a finals.
  11. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 08:30 PM) I have a hard time calling anyone a "much better scorer" than a guy that's shooting 58% from the floor while scoring 26 PPG. Better, okay. But that's still insane production and efficiency. Lebron is taking ultra efficient shots for sure, but Durant is averaging 5 more PPG and isn't too far off TS% wise and he doesn't have the supporting cast that lebron has. Theres really nothing that would lead me to believe that lebron could come close to that efficiency while scoring 30 PPG. I just feel Durant is a much better scorer. I don't think Diaw will play 5 feet off of durant in the WCF. Lebron is still most likely better overall, but the gap isn't really large at all.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) Not really. Defense, passing/facilitating is still not close. LeBron could drop 30+ easy if he wasn't so efficiency obsessed. People would argue that defense is much closer than you think. Lebron could drop 30+, but his efficiency wouldn't even come close to durant's so that doesn't really mean much. Durant is a much better scorer.
  13. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:28 PM) Weber has done an incredible job so far at KSU. That roster this year looked absolutely horrendous but they will probably be dancing barring a big collapse. It sucks to see we likely won't be with a much better roster but neither here nor there. I don't really care how much success he has at KSU. He just couldn't cut it at illinois. Michael Orris and Jalen James would have been part of the backcourt next year instead of Starks, Cosby, or Nunn.
  14. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 09:21 PM) Durant is quite average. One could make a serious argument of him over lebron right now. I'll hold off until the playoffs because lebron seems to be coasting a bit. Durant is in line to win MVP this year though, and it's not due to voter fatigue.
  15. QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 01:10 PM) Is signing PK, Abreu, and Tanaka plus trading for Avi Garcia, Adam Eaton, and Matt Davidson enough to get an early season attendance boost? I bought a 27 game package this year, which I've never done. So maybe?
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 11:57 PM) What the hell? lol. Is this what I'm like when I'm blitzed? Haha. Calm down. Where is bird in your top 8?
  17. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 11:13 PM) Only things about Bird that hurts him, imo, is he came in super late (wasn't he like 24 his rookie year?) and that back cut his longevity down by like a lot. But from 80-87 or '88, s***, I won't even hate on what he did those years. Spectacular. I think he did fine after 88 e: is this what tee ball feels like?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 10:56 PM) Oh, um, not sure what you mean. He's pretty much right there with Magic, no? He's in most people's top 6-10. That could change slightly with Kobe, Duncan, KG, and Dirk all just about at the end. Still seems like a pretty safe bet for top 10 regardless. He's been getting separated from magic recently in the top 10. It's weird. I agree with your overall premise though. No worries.
  19. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 10:45 PM) You talkin' Bird the exec? He's done a great job in putting that team together. Nah, the player
  20. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:20 PM) Well, extenuating circumstances there, but fine. Maybe this team just really sucks. Sure looks like it now. Maniscalco got hurt and he was stuck starting a freshman at pg. The circumstances were on weber never recruiting a PG to help run his motion offense. Now Groce is reaping the benefits and is running a combo guard in Abrams at Pg.
  21. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:21 PM) This is crazy but if the season had ended today, Durant might just be the run away MVP. Don't let J4L see this. His lebron love is strong.
  22. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 08:11 PM) There have been bad, there have been annoying, there have been unathletic. This is just frusrating. They continue to make dumb mistakes. They dont execute on offense. They stand around. And its been like three weeks of this. They were not doing this in the non conference part of the schedule. Yes, the talent of the opposition went up, but still. Those awful Weber teams at least felt like they were maximizing their talent. Going 17-15 with a lottery pick and a bunch of juniors in Paul, Richardson, and Griffey is maximizing talent...
  23. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 18, 2014 -> 07:55 PM) This is one of the most frustrating Illinois teams in years. "Years" as in two?
  24. Illinois is +4 against MSU. Payne won't play and MSU is a bit banged up, but the way the Illini have been playing lately it looks too easy. Maybe this is the game that opens up the door for tournament talk again.
